Looking for a magic item
I've had a funny idea for a 3.5 game and I was wondering if you all could help me out.
I’m looking for a magic item that would prevent a lawful evil, or just an evil, character from doing anything remotely evil. Preferably one that comes in two parts, I.E. a collar and amulet set. The idea is that the evil player is forced to wear the collar which makes him obey the good cleric/paladin or who ever wears the amulet.
If one can't be found how would you make one?
I keep picturing the evil character constantly being affected by the side-effect of the magic item due to trying to swear revenge against the paladin as a group of children dog pile him for X reason.Last edited by DragonsAion; 2011-02-22 at 01:38 PM.

Re: Looking for a magic item
Cost isn't an issue as the temple or king would already own them. their just slapping them on the evil character in order to control him/ make sure he behaves.
the two back grounds that i have for this are that the evil character is being taken from one jail to another or that the evil character is needed to defeat the BBEG.

Re: Looking for a magic item
Alright. Well, The Enslavement rings are from Forgotten realms - Underdark.
It's essentially five slave rings and a master ring.
The master ring has Detect thoughts at will on the ones wearing the slave rings
The slave rings works like an amulet of inescapapble location, they have No save against the detect thoughts. When they put the ring on and every ten days after, they fall under a dominate person effect (Not sure if there's a willsave in there). The rings can only be removed with a remove curse spell.
the ring has CL10 for the dominate.Last edited by Asheram; 2011-02-22 at 02:05 PM.
Boats are like nuts, the outside is hard but the inside is usually good to eat.
And remember, things can always get worse.

Re: Looking for a magic item
go check out the Goblins webcomic, the leash that the yuan-ti is wearing - anyone who holds the leash she can take no violent action against.
Just change the "leash" to an amulet. The LE guy wears the amulet, whoever else (the LG person escorting him) wears the other.. as long as they both wear the amulet, neither can remove it, and the LE guy cannot commit any non-good act.

Re: Looking for a magic item
If your evil character is Lawful Evil, a binding pact might be better and more interesting. Perhaps something mediated by a devil, for an extra-faustian angle?
Lagren: I took Livers Need Not Apply, only reflavoured.
DocRoc: to?
Lagren: So whenever Harry wisecracks, he regains HP.

Re: Looking for a magic item
A scroll of disintegrate should do the trick.
π = 4
Consider a 5' radius blast: this affects 4 squares which have a circumference of 40' — Actually it's worse than that.

Re: Looking for a magic item
Why bother with that?
Keep putting an Helm of Opposite Alignment on his head 'till he fails the save. Cheap, and not as evil as the mind control collar that makes the wearer permanently unhappy.Quotes:Praise for avatar may be directed to Derjuin.Spoiler
