Jormund the Sleeper (New Draconic Deity)
Jormun: The Sleeper
The first dragons were the children of Bahamut and Tiamat, the two Great Draconic Forbearers working together in unison. They were powerful beasts who were one with the elements and the powers that would eventually compose the Prime. Each of these First Born qualified as a minor godhood in their own right, powerful beyond measure. When Io foretold the coming of lesser races, of mortal races, Bahamut saw it as their duty to guide, shepherd and defend these mortals, letting them flourish while only directly intervening in the direst of circumstances. Tiamat saw it as their purpose to rule these lesser races with an iron fist, to bend them to their will, and use them as nothing more than tools and toys. In secret Tiamat called the greatest of these First Born to her, the dragons between whom all others were ruled. She presented her ideals and five dragons immediately swore fealty to her, these would be the first red, blue, green, black, and white dragons and it is because of this act that these five are closest to the mother of evil dragonkind. While the other dragons hesitated, only one spoke up against these ideas of domination. A dragon connected with primordial metal, Jormun spoke loudly against Tiamat.
Tiamat ordered the Five to destroy him, but Jormun fought bravely against them. As all seemed lost, Bahamut, having heard the sounds of battle through the primordial ethers that were all that existed before the ordering of worlds, arrived. His presence terrified the Five and they flocked back to hide behind the sheltering wings of Tiamat. Tiamat glared at Bahamut, and ordered the Five to attack their father. With a single sweep of his tail, Bahamut showed how far above the Five he stood, and taking the fading spirit form of Jormun he imbued it with a portion of his essence. This essence of a true god kept Jormun’s spirit alive, and kept him from fading completely, but it was not enough to fully heal the wounds that the Five had inflicted. Tears in his eyes, Bahamut cast Jormun into the Primal Void from which the world would later be formed, and then he rallied his forces to him.
When the Dragon War had ended, and Io began the Ordering of the World, Jormun’s still sleeping spirit, like the other First Born who had survived the War, was given a body of flesh and as he slept in the Primal Void that would become the Prime mountains grew up and over him. In honor of the Sleeper who had fought for him when all others remained silent, Bahamut gave his five most loyal general bodies of precious metals, gold, brass, bronze, copper, and silver.
Thus goes the legend of the Sleeper.
Deep within the mountains, an ancient race at war with Tiamat’s draconic spawn found the Sleeper and siphoning a portion of his deific power, bestowed onto him by Bahamut to maintain his lifeforce, created the Brightsteel Dragons as their guardians and warriors. As time would pass in the mountains surrounding the Sleeper his divine energies would empower and warp metal iron ore giving it sentience and life all its own, creating the Lodestone Dragons, and a portion of the Sleeper awakened by their tampering would stretch out from himself through the deep places in the world and infused the metal he still held a primal link to with life creating the Ironrune Dragons.
Note: In my games Bahamut and Tiamat are Greater Deities and Io is an Overdeity.
The Sleeper
Demigod (Lawful Good)
Portfolio: Metal, Dragons, Courage, Determination
Domains: Law, Good, DragonSC, Metal[sup]SC[/spell], CourageSC, EnduranceBoED.
Cleric Training: The Sleeper has few clerics, his priesthood primarily constructed of favored souls who gained their scattered knowledge of their god through vivid dreams showing representations of the battles from before the Ordering of the Worlds. Those clerics he does have tend to be meta-dragons, most often of the Ironrune variety, or taught by a meta-dragon.
Quests: The Sleeper rarely sends his followers on quests, as he is rarely conscious enough to do so. His followers often take it upon themselves to oppose evil dragons wherever they are found, and to a lesser extent any evil that would seek to enslave others.
It is rumored that his most powerful follower is continuously assigned the quest of finding a means to fully revive the Jormund and that such a means exists somewhere in this world, but it is unverified if this is so; partially due to the disparate nature of his clergy lacking any central bureaucracy.
Prayers: Lacking a centralized organization, each of the Sleeper’s priests is left to create their own prayers. They don’t pray often, knowing their god slumbers.
Temples: Like prayers temples to the Sleeper lack a single theme. Ironrune dragons, from which the largest number of his followers spring, often build shrines to him in forges or other places of creative work.
Rites: Worshippers of the Sleeper often celebrate creative ventures, as well as the beginning of efforts to fight evil.
Herald and Allies: The Sleeper has no herald. His planar allies are archons who serve law and good and choose to answer the calls of his priests for this reason.
Holy Symbol: A dragon’s eye surrounded by a three pointed rune, two points rising diagonally up and one pointing straight down.
Favored Weapon: Bite (Longsword).Peanut Half-Dragon Necromancer by Kurien.

Re: Jormund the Sleeper (New Draconic Deity)
Jormund the Comatose God (Vestige)
SpoilerLevel: 5th
Binding DC: 24 (20 for dragons and dragonblood creatures)
Legend: Binders argue whether Jormund should even be classified as a vestige. He was first bound by mistake, intercepting the call for another vestige. Unlike most vestiges Jormund is not dead, merely trapped in a state between life and death, and he does not inhabit the Void but some realm between it and reality waiting till his deific form can be fully revived. Once he was a great draconic spirit who was slain in battle against champions of Tiamat, but Bahamut granted a portion of his own divine essence to his loyal servant preserving his life. Even so it was not enough to restore life to the dragon fully and now he sleeps a dreaming god.
Special requirement: Jormund will not make pacts with binders of a non-good alignment, and he will allow himself to be bound alongside Nykthog or Ashardalon immediately ending the bind if either of them are bound as well (unless the binder has the Ignore Special Requirements feat).
Manifestation: Jormund manifests as a hollow draconic skull made entirely out of steel. Blue smoke begins to billow out of the skull and makes a series of letters and pictographs to communicate the pact making process.
Sign: The binder’s skin takes on a metallic texture like that of polished steel. Their voice also changes having a bell-like ring to it.
Influence: Jormund’s influence incites rage against the spawn of Tiamat and requires you to attempt to slay any chromatic dragons or dragonblooded creatures you encounter.
Granted ability:
Cold and Force Resistance: While you have Jormund bound you gain Cold and Force resistance equal to your EBL.
Force Missile: As a standard action you may fire a missile of force that deals 1d8+1 damage per three binder levels. This missile has a range of 200-ft and strikes its target unerringly as long as you have Line of Sight and Line of Effect to the target.
Immunity to Fear: While Jormund is bound the binder gains immunity to fear, and whenever they would normally have to make a Will save against Fear they instead gain a +1 morale bonus to attack rolls and saving throws for 5 rounds.
Relentless Will: When an attack would reduce you to 0 or lower hit points you may heal 2d4+1/2 binder level hp as an immediate action. Once you have used this ability you must wait 5 rounds before you use it again.Last edited by Zaydos; 2011-04-15 at 03:47 PM.
