Re: OOTS #784 - The Discussion Thread
That was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brilliant idea by Belkar, and that exchange at the end--priceless.
Also, one of the most fitting names in a while; 17 pages of speculation on the forums didn't mention the Allosaur once.
"Oh, come on, the soldiers? They don't grow on trees, you know!" The problem of every evil overlord.
"Hooray! The people whose names I know are saved!" Thank you for that wonderful lampshading, Elan--we know their names, therefore killing them is a much worse crime than immolating lots of slaves.Last edited by fibonacciseries; 2011-03-28 at 04:33 AM.

Re: OOTS #784 - The Discussion Thread
Now that WAS totally unexpected!!
Not that Gannji and Enor got off the hook (for this strip's duration, at least), but that it was through the action of the dino.
BTW I'd like to know more about that trap that made Ian sterile. Traps in 3.5 is a bl... nuisance, IMO. I'd like more to work with...
BTW it comes as no surprise at all that the Allosaurus is in fact a member of the theropoda, from which modern-day birds stem. Heh, I learn more biology from reading OOTS than I did in my biology classes at school...Last edited by Edhelras; 2011-03-28 at 04:42 AM.

Re: OOTS #784 - The Discussion Thread
The trap was probably Con damage with some side effects.
Those poor soldiers though... What did they do to deserve being devoured?Brewing a new setting (3.5 ed D&D). The setting is complete and ready to play.
Indeed, here is the recruitment thread for the first run.
The above post was probably snide, snippy, tongue in cheek and/or opinionated. Consult your sense of humour before vexation. If still vexed, attempt to cease giving a damn. Thank you for reading this public service bulletin.

Re: OOTS #784 - The Discussion Thread
Wow that's some deus ex machina. This strip remembers me why I will miss Belkar.
Ian is starting to like Belkar, who will probably talk him into being even more defiant toward Elan just for the fun. Ian really is a terrible juge of character

Re: OOTS #784 - The Discussion Thread
Another awesome comic as usual.
But then again, any comic with Belkar in it is awesome.
On another note, is that really an allosaurus? because I don't think it is.

Re: OOTS #784 - The Discussion Thread
I like the expressions of the audience in the first panel. Tarquin is horrified (this isn't what he planned!), Elan is thrilled, Haley is shocked, and Vaarsuvius is puzzled. One guard is so terrified he dropped his crossbow into the arena!

I absolutely love the range of facial expressions in the first panel.
New barely justifiable theory on Belkar's replacement - the Allosaurus!

Re: OOTS #784 - The Discussion Thread
Hmm... Why didn't Tarquin poison those arrows such that even if it doesn't kill the target, it gives them excruciating pain and paralyzes them? Yet another one of Tarquin's not-so-evil-overlord mistakes...
I mean, even Gannji did the paralyzing part and a national gladiator game should have more than enough budget for as much screams and blood as possible.Last edited by martinkou; 2011-03-28 at 05:08 AM.
