Thanks, Dogmantra, I hope you had fun. But now it's time to move on to the next interview. Please help yourself to a copy of the home game.

Ghost escorts him off the stage.

And now it's time for an interview I'm sure many of us have been waiting for: Trog!

    ghost_warlock:
    1. Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character? If so, who?
Well I find real women (and especially the geeky ones it would seem >>) far more crushable. The only fictional characters I've had crushes on have been roles played by attractive movie stars and I have to admit that a good portion of that was due to their looks and not as much the character performance. The only one that is coming to mind is the character of Charlotte in Lost in Translation played by Scarlett Johansson.

She's gorgeous of course but it is the shy vulnerability and very down-to-earth-ness of her character that endears me to her. The fact that she's one of these souls wandering through some clearly amazing experiences and has no one to share them with and clearly yearns for that. That's a sentiment I have felt many times in my life.

    2. What is one thing about yourself you're the most proud of?
I'm proud of my kids and what awesome individuals they have turned out to be. When we hang out now it's like we're three of a kind and we have a lot of fn and some interesting discussions. But I guess my kids are not me, per se, so I'll go with being a father even if I'm not the greatest at it but not a lot that I've done in my life is worth a damn compared to that, really.

    3. Roses or orchids?
The only time in my life I ever had gotten flowers it was three orange-colored roses. So I suppose roses win.

    4. What sustains you, keeps you going every day?
Caffeine. Hope for something better around the bend.

    5. How did you get to be so awesome?
I sent away for the kit.

    6. Where were you ten years ago, and what do you know now that you wish you knew back then?
Ten years ago I was married with a two year old and a five year old and worked for a local newspaper. I didn't have internet access and gamed regularly with my friends, same as always. At the time I was happy I think. Not sure what knowledge I would have inflicted on the me from ten years ago, though winning lottery numbers would be nice.

    7. If the human race vanished tomorrow, leaving only you and one other person to keep you company, who would you want that person to be?
Some ridiculously hot smart girl I suppose. Good conversation and good sex would pass the time quite nicely.

    8. Who is one person who died before you were born that you'd most like to speak with?
    I have no idea.

    9. When your life comes to an end, how do you want to be remembered/what do you want to be remembered for?
I want to be remembered as a good man. You know… whatever that means.

    10. Ga! These questions have taken a turn for the depressing! Quick, what is your favorite lolcat!? (Bonus cookies for posting a pic.)

    12. Beards or babies?
    Babies.

    13. Have you ever made up a word? If so, what is that word and what is its definition?
I've had a word made up by someone else about me (er... seriously, actually): kadorka. Does that count? Definition here.

    14. Define the following word: whiloplenulent?
The act of giving up chasing after multiple slim attractive women for lent.

    15. What's an old-fashioned song or short schmaltzy bit of poetry that's stuck in your head?
There's too many kids in this tub.
There's too many elbows to scrub.
    I just washed a behind
    that I'm sure isn't mine,
There's too many kids in this tub.

    16. Favorite mythological monster?
    The damsel in distress.

    17. Enough of this! I am your arch-nemesis! Where will we fight our final, climactic battle?
At an all you-can-eat Mongolian barbecue. P=

    18. In #17, above, did you defeat me? If so, how?
Yes. I tipped the cook to under-cook your plates. Otherwise I clearly would have lost.

    19. Do you prefer the silly questions or the serious ones?
Both are fun. I have no preference.

    20. Why did you decide to submit yourself to these torturous, probing questions?
    For fun. And great justice.

    wxdruid:
What color(s) do you prefer to wear?
Blue jeans and a shirt. Black, white, brown and orange being most popular.

What do you like to collect?
    I don't really collect anything.

How many avatars do you have?
*counts* 37 different Trogs it looks like.

    Are you coming to GenCon11?
    No I am not.

What type of chocolate do you prefer?
Dark chocolate, 70% cocoa. Preferable with some coffee.

What type and how many pets do you have?
    I own no pets.

Do you enjoy watching the Weather Channel?
I haven't had cable of any sort for over three years now and I haven't watched much TV at all for about four years... maybe five. And I have not had extended cable which would include the weather channel for perhaps 14 years now. I get all my weather from here. So no.

    SMEE:
How do you manage to not blow up from sheer awesomeness?
    Trog thinks about baseball.

    Fredaintdead:
Is it true that you can shoot lasers from your nostrils?
This is untrue. The lasers fire from the reflective shiny-ness of my bald head, according to FroJoe.

Are you or are you not the real OT?
If that stands for "Original Trog" in parody of like "Original Gangster" or something then yes and no. The concept of troglodytes predates my username usage, of course. But as to the concept of trogs deriving their awful smell from smoking Coffin Nail™ brand cigarettes and generally being drunken, clueless, and constantly in need of birthday cake well then yes I suppose I'm the original. Not that there's anyone queueing up behind that concept but... yeah.

Did you learn your Troggyness or were you taught?
It has happened spontaneously. There was no teaching or learning.

    If so, who taught you?
    N/A

    Can you fly?
Only when I pay for the airfare.

Do you have any other notable superpowers other than awesomeness?
I'm not even sure I have that one, really. So no.

    Favourite food?
I like a good curry but I'm gonna go with filet mignon. P=

    Mauve Shirt:
How do you feel about being as playground-famous and respected as you are?
It's bizarre and clearly some sort of case of mistaken identity or something. The weirdest bit is that I seem to have no say in it. People keep insisting that I am those things despite me just being... well... just me I suppose.

Do you have a trog voice that you use when speaking, or does trog only come out in text?
I don't have a special voice for Trog in my head. Then again I usually don't have a voice for characters I read unless I have seen someone act that part in a play or movie. So no.

If you were a bird, what kind of bird would you be?
A grackle I suppose. One of those rather ordinary birds that just seem to get on with their day.

    Serpentine:
    Have you ever travelled overseas?
    No. I hope to someday.

If so, what event really drove it home that you weren't in your own country anymore?
I've never set foot outside of the U.S., sadly.

What place/s do you most and least want to visit?
Most is Paris. Least is anywhere where there is a war going on.

What have you recently discovered or worked out about yourself?
I really need to stretch out more.

In what ways have you changed since you were half your current age?
Well I've been married and divorced since then and I have kids now. I have lost hair on top and gained facial hair. Nearly all of my possessions have changed. I live in a different place than I did. I'm no longer in college. I used to draw every day for years and now I do not at all save for very very rare occurrences.

In what ways have you stayed the same?
I'm still as clueless as ever about... nearly everything. I still have some of the very same close friends. I still play D&D. I still have the same deep wants and needs and passionate desires inside. And I'm still not content.

Does your tail wag on it's own, or do you have to make it move consciously? (notice I did not say conscientiously )
Trog's tail serves as a counter balance while drunkenly weaving about. Trog has no control over it in most situations. Mostly it's there to make buying pants difficult.

Are you a "drawer" or an "inker"? Just kidding... But could you show us a sample of some of your digital artwork?
My digital stuff? Hmm... How's this?

What quirky Trog habits would you say your boys have picked up from you?
My sense of humor and love for things comic-y and some of my artistic ability (such as it is) has been passed on.

You've had a few hippie-brews, any special requests?
The nut brown is, in my opinion, the best. Though I'm always game to try anything new. P=

Original trilogy, or all six films?
All six. I like the setting too much to cut bits out... unless we are talking the expanded universe which I could care less about. I find reading about the Star Wars universe boring as hell. It's a visual thing for me.

What was your first choice for characters while playing Clue, and which weapon did you prefer?
    Professor Plum. The lead pipe.

    mangosta71
Do you, in fact, have any cheese here at all?
I live in Wisconsin, what do you think? *points to several kinds of cheese in the fridge.*

Will you go quietly when they come for you?
    Hell no.

What is your anti-zombie weapon of choice?
My portable reality gun in the sights of which such silly things cannot exist.

Are you running to something, or from something?
I'm mostly meandering around looking for the bar… or a good woman.

    What's the magic word?
    Kazam!

You walk into a room willed with rats. What do you do?
    Back away slowly?

What about one filled with bugs? Snakes? Indiana Joneses?
Back away slowly? Back away slowly? And say "Excuse me, Doctor Jones?" to hear the chorus of simultaneous "Yes?"es. THEN back away slowly.

You're in a desert, walking along in the sand, when all of a sudden you look down and see a tortoise. It's crawling toward you. You reach down and you flip the tortoise over on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over, but it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping. Why is that, Trog?
Because Trog is being tested to see if Trog is a replicant? *looks around* What happened to Trog's vaguely Tolkienesque setting? o.O

    LOTRfan:
What are your favorite troglodytes? Wren, Cavemen, or the smelly lizards?
    These.

    Why?
    Because they're kind of cool?

Is there a particular reason you choose one of the most reviled reptilian races in D&D as your namesake/avatar?
I read that Rich originally used his stick figure drawings as counters for playing D&D so I decided to make some of my own for an adventure I was working on. Later I decided to join the forums and I wanted a custom avatar so I used the Troglodyte I had made and chose a forum name to match. As to the reviled part I figured choosing the it would result in me always exceeding expectations. Or it was the self-hatred. Or my ability to laugh at myself. One of those.

    Pirates vs. Ninjas? Why?
Pirates. More advanced weaponry as was pointed out in that Deadliest Warrior show or whatever it's called. Plus I am on a pirate kick because I picked up the Pirates of the Caribbean blu-ray. Though it should be noted that the other movie I bought at the same time was Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. So clearly I have a soft spot for the ninjas as well.

Same as question above, but Samurai vs. Viking.
Gonna go with Viking I think. No real reason other than I like them better.

Do you have a specific question you hope someone will ask you?
    Not really?

I cannot seem to decipher the writing in your sig. What does it say?
"Trog came, Trog drank, Trog smoked and stank."

O: We have the same brain!

And since you got straight A's recently you can pretty much do the math on what bits of the brain I was left with.

    AtlanteanTroll:
If you were a Pokemon, which one would it be? (EVERYTHING IS POKEMON!!)
One of those wild ones you run across randomly in the tall grass.

    Reinholdt:
What question would you like to be asked?
    No clue.

What traits do you look for in an ideal pet?
    Snuggly and affectionate.

What is the square root of Pi?
    It's math. Sounds hard.

    What's your favorite OOTS strip?
Any one where Elan is happy and clueless. Reminds me of my life.

    What's your favorite Erfworld strip?
I didn't much care for it? *shrug* So I don't have one.

How does your ITP persona relate to you in real life?
Well I'm not a reptile in real life. I don't actually smoke and I drink only rarely (though more often recently, actually) and I don't own a tavern. Though I do stand to inherit a portion of a bowling alley which contains a tavern... so there's that. Other than that I'm sure you could draw parallels. I like cake, I'm fairly clueless, I live in my own little world, I randomly blurt out observations that people think are funny.

Sadistic choice time! You must choose to save either the life of your most loved one or the lives of a large group of strangers. Which do you choose?
I choose the loved one. Hundreds of people I don't know die every day. A loved one dies only rarely. I look out for those I'm close to.

    What is your favorite word?
    Happy.

What is your least favorite word?
Any one I have great difficulty spelling.

    What makes you enthusiastic?
Geeky stuff. And being in love.

    What disappoints you?
The false promise of a happily ever after.

    What sound do you love?
    It's not forum appropriate.

    What sound do you hate?
The caw of crows outside my window in the early morning.

What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
Something in the Role-playing development field would be fun.

What profession would you not like to participate in?
Anything involving the killing of animals.

Why "Trog"? (I get the troglodyte connection, but why pick that?)

How come your avatar's a pirate right now?

Is there anything about you that you think people should know that they won't get from just reading your posts?

    Blue Ghost:
    How’s life at the moment?
    Bearable enough I suppose.

    Favorite color?
I don't now, nor have I ever, had one. Not even as a child. I always thought is was silly to pick only one. In third grade I arbitrarily choose green to get people to stop asking. So… green.

    Favorite fruit?
    A good Honeycrisp Apple

    Favorite ice cream?
Mint Chocolate Chip. Or possibly Ben & Jerry's Chubby Hubby.

    What is your theme song?
    I don't know.

    What is your alignment?
Neutral or, if you play 4e, I'm unaligned.

What is your Magic: The Gathering color?
Never played. No urge to play. No clue.

What is the meaning of life?
Life is but the latest complexity in the ever-growing complexity of the universe. If you mean to ask "what is the meaning of mankind's existence" then I'd say we exist to create the next form of more complex, diverse, intelligent, and capable life which will spread life into the void of space. Likely by changing ourselves in some way into something more complex. Or we shall grow extinct when some other more capable form of such life comes to where we are. Survival of the fittest. Always. Even now our technology advances to make this more and more possible with each passing year. We exist to advance… and to win.

    What are your thoughts on:
    Love?
A glorious thing. Only thing that has made me feel like my life was worth a damn.

    Friendship?
I'd go to hell and back for mine. But I'd rather that not be necessary and we instead game on, share a few drinks, and do a back-yard barbecue.

    Freedom?
It's only precious if you value your need not to conform to life's suppressive forces. Routine, the foremost of them.

What is the color of your aura?
    Mine doesn't exist.

What does your essence taste like?
    Only ex-girlfriends know. =P

    What’s your elemental affinity?
Hell if I know. I'm a scorpio… does that help?

Who would you ask to the next Playground Prom, if we had one?
No clue. Whoever would have me I suppose. I can't dance worth a damn.

Are you part of any other online communities?
    Not really, no.

What fictional character do you most identify with?
    Ignatius J Reilly

    Socks: Yes or no?
    Sure, why not.

    What’s your pony name?
If this is about that My Little Pony business I'll have no part of it. Reminds me of my sisters when they were very little. Not my thing.

Do you know any Playgrounders in real life?
Well I've met many of them at meetups in TN, MN, IN, and OH and dated a couple of them so... yes.

What is the highest compliment you have ever received?
I was told that practically anyone's life would be made better by knowing me.

What is the highest compliment you can imagine receiving?
    Probably that.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
Growing up sounds like a frightfully boring business. I'll pass.

    Gwyn chan 'r Gwyll:
    1977?
I had the single longest summer of my life, being in between kindergarten and first grade It seemed to never end. My father made me a wooden fort in the back yard and I played with lego in the driveway.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you be?
Somewhere with more job openings in my field I suppose. And with better restaurants.

Ok, now REALISTICALLY, where would you be?
Realistically I live where I live now. Can't get much more real than that.

Does the room you're sitting in have a window? If so, describe the window in detail.
It's three feet high and six feet wide, has white blinds, and looks out onto a open field with a road and nice houses with white picket fences to the left, a filling station and car wash in the far distance, and a cemetery to the right.

If you were born of the opposite gender, what would your parents have called you?
    I have no idea.

    Ranger Mattos:
    Who is your favorite author?
    Chuck Palanhiuk maybe.

    What is your favorite book?
Not sure. Hard to pick just one.

IS your Mental Cave furnished nicely?
    Not really.

*gasp* I live in the same state as Trog! Do you happen to live anywhere near the Milwaukee area? (In the interest of a possible meet-up with another playgrounder)
I live on the complete other side of the state I'm afraid.

    wxdruid:
I approve of your source! Do you know how to interpret the radar?
Reasonably well enough for a layperson I suppose?

    SMEE:
    And... favorite Zelda game?
An excellent question. I'm going to have to go with what is normally considered an odd choice amongst Zelda fans and NOT say Ocarina of Time and instead say The Windwaker.

I've played and own every Zelda game they've made for a Nintendo device (save for Majora's Mask) and I'd have to give that one the nod for best one. I love the cartoon-y art style and I liked the sailing aspect more than I thought I would.

While the beginning part of the game is very linear I liked the set up for it. Once you were given more freedom it really became much more like the original Zelda game with the ability to roam about the overworld at will looking for things. Only this was kicked up several notches because of the much more advanced game play and such. I played it for just a little bit only last week in fact.

How does the playground mainly knowing you for ''Trog'' and not you(even though there are a good deal who do) make you feel?

How much of that persona is a part of you and how much is it a a ''character''?

You know you have my eternal strictly heterosexual manlove, not that there's anything wrong with the alternative, right?

    Whiskey, Beer, or Vodka?

Excluding the three above mentioned liquors, what is your favorite drink?

Feels okay I guess. At one point nearly all of my posts were done in character but now the regular ones far outweigh the ''Trog'' ones.

How much of that persona is a part of you and how much is it a a ''character''?
What I have Trog do is all done for laughs but I'm still the person making him say what he says so it's much more me than character. Only the veneer changes to add to the joke.

    Indeed.

    Beer

Gin and Tonic is my drink of choice. A decent gin if you please. Hendricks preferred over others followed by the now extinct Beefeater Wet. I'll miss that gin. *sniffle*

    Dear Mr. Trog sir,

    What colour is your underwear?

Are you wearing any jewelry? Do you own any? Have you a favourite jewel?

Have you ever had uh, an experience with another troglodyte? If you catch my drift? That time at summer camp doesn't count.

    Kneenibble:
    What colour is your underwear?
    Black.

Are you wearing any jewelry? Do you own any?
No I'm only wearing the above at the moment. I have a necklace I once liked but I don't wear it any more, really. A simple black leathery cord with some tightly wound wire and nuts and little washers and black beads in a 3 inch length building to one larger metal bead in the middle. No clue where I got it from.

    Have you a favourite jewel?
My favorite jewel by far is a black opal.

Have you ever had uh, an experience with another troglodyte? If you catch my drift? That time at summer camp doesn't count.
I don't recall the incident at summer camp you speak of but… I shall keep the answer to your question and other experience matters to myself I think. Feel free to fill in those blanks with answers that entice you, dear reader.

    Sexiest golden-era film star?
Ingrid Bergman for her role in Casablanca. A woman of such beauty and with such a force of personality who, when confronted with real love crumples helplessly and clings to her man in a way that hearkens back to the days of primitive cave men stokes a fire in my loins somehow and turns me into this protector type who would willingly play such a woman like a fine instrument. It's an amazing experience to have, I can say, and the movie captures the sweet helplessness of being in love in that way.
