Re: Questionable Content 3: Ironically Quite Popular
Hmph, I still say, "Would You Like A Little Coffee With That Drama?" Would have been awesome. :p Also, its pretty impressive how recognizable the comic characters are, even I dont know how many years after episode 666. I mean, the early comics are HUGELY different. Alot of times, these long terms comics drift pretty significantly over their multi year life spans.

Re: Questionable Content 3: Ironically Quite Popular
Yeah, Mr. Researcher is getting a little . . . handsy. Too bad, AnthroPC/Human interaction does sound like an interesting topic; it's one of the quirks about this universe. Strong, Turing Positive, AI and a much more extensive space program, especially in the private sector.

Re: Questionable Content 3: Ironically Quite Popular
It was pretty simuler to the last one though, it's important to change it up. It would be kinda silly if we ended up limiting ourselves to just coffee shot jokes when that isn't necessarily what the comic is even about.
On the topic of the comic: I never understood how people leap to such exasperated responses when fanboying/fangiling out meeting someone they idolize or is otherwise famous. Expesially for someone presumably as educated as Clinton, somewhere in that thought process there must be the realization that even without the germ-phobia, no one would likely respond positively to that...
Is "Oh my gosh! I'm a huge fan of his work!" So difficult?Last edited by BiblioRook; 2011-04-08 at 03:59 PM.

Re: Questionable Content 3: Ironically Quite Popular
Yeah its even worse when you realize he isnt even flipping out over his idol, but his idols DAUGHTER. Its like, "OMG! Your Jonathon Kent! Your son is superman! CAN I TOUCH YOU?!" Its just plain odd.
But then again, ive never actually idolized anyone before, so its not really my place to judge. Ive met governors without getting all squealy, professional athletes, and even bill effin cosby without going beyond, "Wow, its nice to meet you, im a big fan.""Interdum feror cupidine partium magnarum Europae vincendarum"

If i met Terry Pratchett or Rowan Atkinson I'd be babbling like a brook. Especially in Pterry's case.

Re: Questionable Content 3: Ironically Quite Popular
Funny you should mention that because that stuck out to me because I literally was on my way to meet one of my favorite authors
(Like, two hours ago. I just got back from it).
The point isn't that I or someone wouldn't feel nervous or maybe gush a bit (I'm more of the shy selective mute myself) in that I don't understand how people might go from 'big fan' to 'well-meant creepo'.
Big difference between "Your work has been a major influence on my life!" to "I WANT TO LICK YOUR FACE*!"

Re: Questionable Content 3: Ironically Quite Popular
In situations like that, you don't really pick your words as much as they just leap out of your mouth before you've even thought of them. "Why the **** did I just say that?" is pretty common to cross your mind right after. I'm sure Clinton had no intention of asking if he could touch her. It just happens. *shrug*
Witty sig here nosey, aren't ya?

Constitutional amendment to... wait, so Marten doesn't actually own Pintsize? (Since that would be slavery if he has any sort of power over him.)

Re: Questionable Content 3: Ironically Quite Popular
Wait, why is Hannelore's dad's last name Ellicott-Chatham when Chatham is Hanner's mom's last name? I guess he might have kept the two names after they divorced, but that seems strange to me.

Re: Questionable Content 3: Ironically Quite Popular
He might not still have the duel last name post-divorce and that most of his big publications happened during the marriage.
It actually doesn't surprise me that Hanners' dad would take his wife's name as Hanners' mom is a very dominating person.

Re: Questionable Content 3: Ironically Quite Popular
Well, yeah. He's a strange man, after all. Not only did he make Hannelore, he also made her a robot boyfriend. Seriously, he supplied 50% of the genetic material that made Hanners. That alone should be enough to say that normal he couldn't be.
Man is twisted, is what I'm getting at. Strange things are to be expected.
Then there's the bit about scientific publications, name recognition in the field, and time of life that the marriage was extant in and all that jazz.
And while we're on the note of Terry Pratchett and meeting one's idols, yes, I must admit, what pics I've found of his daughter online have indicated she's easy on the eyes in addition to being behind Mirror's Edge and Overlord.
Edit: And now I really detest this Clinton fellow and the outfit he's with for sending someone as tactless and unobservant on a task that requires a nuanced understanding of both human and AI psychology just to be able to pick up on warning signs to make a note of following up on.

Re: Questionable Content 3: Ironically Quite Popular
Eh, it looks like he was just performing a rote survey and writing down responses. This looks more like a research survey (Grabbing numbers to crunch) rather than an inspection or in-depth a case study. For all we know he's just a volunteer helping out with the study who happens to be an John Elliot-Chatham Fanboy.
I don't get Martin's line here , what does he mean by "it's movie sign"

"what's movie sign?!?" Heathen! Go watch 10 episodes of mystery science theater 3000 as penance!
Seriously if you've never heard of mst3k it's well worth checking out. They stream some episodes of it on Netflix if you're a subscriberProof-reading is totally unnecessary in the digital age now that we have spell cheque.

Re: Questionable Content 3: Ironically Quite Popular
I wouldn't bother, it hasn't been any good ever since it got popular. pardon my insufferable hipster facade, ahaha
As to John Ellicot-Chatham: do you really think Hannelore's mother would let her name be occluded by that of a lesser being? I've got three bucks that says Ellicot-Chatham wasn't his surname until they were married.

Re: Questionable Content 3: Ironically Quite Popular
Huh? I'm not sure when you'd say the show got popular. And I wouldn't use the present tense to describe it since it ended a dozen years ago.
The last season or two were a lot more inconsistent and not as good, but I'd hardly dismiss the whole 10 season run without at least watching a few episodesProof-reading is totally unnecessary in the digital age now that we have spell cheque.
