Re: Doctor Who (again)
This came as a nasty shock to me too when my mum told me, I didn't really believe it for some reason, the whole thing seems very sudden.
My thoughts go out to her family and friends, to her co-workers and to her fans.... She'll be missed.

Re: Doctor Who (again)
That is very sad news indeed
And I was really liking the character development the kinds got over the years.
So I hope they'll make a proper appearance in the main show, and not just a cameo. I especially like to see what Clyde will be up to in a few years.
But it's mainly sad because she died

Re: Doctor Who (again)
Sad news...I think Sarah Jane Smith was one of the first Dr. Who companions I remember, back when I first watched it at the grand old age of 5. The idea she's just died, well, it's like a piece of my childhood just went away.

Re: Doctor Who (again)
Sarah Jane Smith was the first companion I can remember, too. And every time I seehwe on today's news with Tom Baker, I can't quite believe she's gone. At least a new generation got a chance to get to know Elisabeth Sladen and come to appreciate her like us old timers do.

Re: Doctor Who (again)
Spoiler
So, the monsters are creatures that we forget as soon as we look away. Explains the "They're behind you" from the teaser.
Also, isn't that the TARDIS-like thing from the Lodger? Certainly looks very similar.
How does a small boy fit in such a large space suit?

SpoilerAnd yet another sci-fi series gives in to the need to cast Mark Sheppard (badger in Firefly, Romo Lampkin in BSG remake) as part of their series...Part of YugiohITPAvatar by Smuchmuch

Re: Doctor Who (again)
Dunno why you spoiler tagged that when it's hardly a plot spoiler to say Mark Sheppard is in it. And the reason he pops up in so many shows is because he's made of Awesome and Win...

Re: Doctor Who (again)
It may have taken it a journey far across Time and Space, but the Nasaghast finally managed to kill the Doctor.
Though for a serious theory:
SpoilerRiver Song, whom we have seen wearing a space suit before, is arrested at one point in time for killing someone who we are told is a very good man.

Re: Doctor Who (again)
Well that was a brilliant start to the series - I am hungry for more
My brother had a theory:
SpoilerThe Doctor gets cloned in one of the later episodes, specifically in The Rebel Flesh and The Almost People. It is this clone that dies...
Oh, and another thought - if the silent and a weeping angel ever bred, the outcome would be the ultimate scary, evil and unstopable monster!Grlump the Elder, a Lvl. 5 Gnome Barbarian with a penchant for food.

Re: Doctor Who (again)
Interesting episode. Spoilers:
SpoilerSo, have the aliens been there for all of history, just now noticed, or are they new? Or maybe both (with some time travel). And I wonder if they have anything to do with what happened to The Doctor. Or if they are bad guys or not.

Re: Doctor Who (again)
Just watched. Liked it a lot. Smith continues to be on of me fave Doctors ever.
I have to admit, I've got no interesting theories. Every time I think of something, I think of something else that contradicts it. Can't wait for next week. How to Play Rogues Properly:

Re: Doctor Who (again)
Saw it, too, a bit delayed.
Spoiler
I'm hyped even though the lake scene pissed me a bit off. I think one point they just wrote badly, the other will be fixed later somehow....
Also, nice new aliens. A bit like Angels, though different. Great defense. But I wonder what would happen if anyone just screamed while seeing them -.-'
I guees they are around for at least a bit already because in the preview the doctor says *not stopping an invasion but starting a revolution'

Re: Doctor Who (again)
SpoilerAmy is pregnant. The nausea gave it away in the Oval Office scene.
Also loved how the Doctor asked the Secret Service agents if they would actually shoot him and River yelling out that they're American, implying that Americans are trigger-happy folk.Last edited by Aron Times; 2011-04-23 at 09:19 PM. Reason: TYPO HAS BEEN EXTERMINATED!!!

Re: Doctor Who (again)
SpoilerThat was a solid episode, especially compared to a more lackluster last season. I like these aliens, and am very interested after the scenes from next week to see how this all goes down. Thanks to Elrond for the Vash avatar.

Re: Doctor Who (again)
SpoilerSame here. It made me laugh.
Anyway, I really liked this episode. The only thing that mildly bothered me was that nobody screamed or yelled when seeing the monsters, mostly so they could keep up the whole 'nobody remembers them' thing, because everyone else would remember someone yelling for no apparent reason. It's not a big deal though.
My first thought was that it was River in the space suit shooting the Doctor, but it seems too early for that. Also, if the Doctor lives with the same face (as I'm sure he will), why wouldn't he prove River's innocence and get her out of jail? Anyway, I'm still hoping that the "good man" she kills isn't the Doctor, it's too predictable.
Is Amy actually pregnant? Can't think of a reason for that line otherwise, but it'll make the rest of the season rather difficult, if for no other reason than "Why would you let a pregnant woman go into such danger?" It could have been her assuming she was pregnant, when later it will turn out she wasn't, or maybe she suddenly changed her mind about telling him. And of course, River got sick too after seeing the monsters, but it could've been a red herring.
Overall, I can't wait for next week's episode.
Also, these monsters are really creeping me out. Maybe because they are tiny Slendermen. Except you can see their faces, and they have eyes.

Re: Doctor Who (again)
The monsters remind me of the thing on SCP, the anti-meme, where you forget everything you know about it after you leave. They had to compile a list of things it wasn't to pin it down. Maybe they'll use this to defeat the monsters?

Re: Doctor Who (again)
Spoiler
Who says it isn't river in the space suit?
Young girl who potentially kills the doctor?
First meets him under strange circumstances?
It is possible that this is a very young river.

Re: Doctor Who (again)
Possible but rather unlikely... it's a bit early on the one hand and on the other, River never struck me as a 60s person but someone from a very distant future. Unless the Doctor's going to pick her up right away but.... No, I highly doubt it.
edit: Least I forget: Oblong office, Discworld reference or just coincidental? I'm not sure.Last edited by Kato; 2011-04-24 at 08:25 AM.
