I liked this thread when it was a spontaneous bohemian outpouring. Now that you are trying to make the song work, it's like you sold out, and went all mainstream.

Mama, the game had just begun. <- I feel like this matches the tempo of the previous verse. Doesn't really fit here. The original line is "Goodbye everybody, I've got to go". I think we need an additional line or something.

Aright, few minor changes to incorporate other suggestions and attempt to keep it close to the original music without getting wordy. Got a coupla points I'd like suggestions on, though.

    Sounds good to me.

Also, "Goodbye everybody, I've got to go" could be substituted with "goodbye my party, I've got to fly".

"When the Gust of Wind blows" fits the tempo of the song better.

    For the opening line...

    "Is this the game night?

I dunno, I kind of liked the existentialism of the in-game fantasy character asking questions that were leading to the conclusion that his life was, in fact, fantasy.

I assumed we were talking from the player's perspective. I'm not sure our characters know that we leave their fate up to a die roll.

How does that even strike you as odd? Ancestor worship is, or was, a pretty common thing to do. Worshiping the dead has plenty of real world examples.

Not quite, Clerics can also worship ideas or ideals and it gives them power as well. So worshipping a dead god is really no different than worshipping a live one with the notable exception of not having them talk back when you get a high enough level.
