Re: Werewolf: Classic XIII
Ignotus Peratio carefully placed the finishing touches on his latest case file. He was placed in a unique position, given a rare opportunity. As the Sanctuary psychoanalyst, it was his job to record and monitor the psychological health of the people. Rarely, in history did a scientist have the opportunity to study people under this kind of stress. The disorders included everything from a classic case of paranoia to delusions of grandeur to violent physical attacks. The actual range of reactions in the Sanctuary was so varied that it was also impossible to identify a common thread.
As Ignotus finished polishing the brass handles on his case file drawers for the hundredth time today, he reflected that most of the abnormal reactions were merely defense mechanisms in reaction to severe trauma. Ignotus adjusted the location of one of his plants again. A certain degree of abnormal behavior actually seemed healthy under these sorts of circumstances. It was drawing the line between healthy and unhealthy behavior that had been so difficult of late. Hmmm…. his office was perfect. Except for the third brass handle down. Had he polished them all an equal amount? Ignotus couldn't remember, so he took a cloth over. I better polish them all again, just to make sure.
Ignotus was just finishing up when the door to his office opened. "Doctor, I have a problem."
Ignotus adjusted the position of a plant, "I'm not actually here to treat patients. I thought that was clear. I merely document and analyze the mental health of Sanctuary members. The Therapist is responsible for treating people."
"The Therapist is dead."
"I understand that and the reactions of members of the Sanctuary populace to the absence of a therapist are fascinating. I've dedicated an entire file to exploring precisely that phenomenon. Let me see… Yes, this drawer." *frown* *polishes handle*
"You don't understand. The problem isn't me… it's you."
Ignotus blinked. He had, of course, subjected himself to intense psychological scrutiny and was happy to confirm that he had the best mental health of anyone in the Sanctuary. "You must be mistaken. I am in excellent health."
"That's the problem."
Ignotus took a closer look at the person in the room with him.
"My what big eyes you have. Have you considered shaving? Maintaining a tidy home and a tidy appearance can go a long way towards maintaining a positive outlook on life." Ignotus moved one of his plants.
"Spoken like a true Imperial Psychoanalyst!" The visitor grinned. "But I find it's better to just let my inner animal out once in a while. It's cathartic and helps me to sleep better." And with that, he transformed and lunged at Ignotus.
Summary: Imperial Psycho was Killed. He was a Mason.[/QUOTE]

Re: Werewolf: Classic XIII
Okay, The Grimmace is making a big glowing red spot on my radar at the moment. Enough to put Julian84 in the shade ven, and I've been suspicious of him for aaages.
The Grimmace was a loud voice against Rules Lawyer yesterday, along with Billtodamax I guess. Yes, a lot of us thought RL looked fishy, but no-one was more vocal than these two. He also put in a throw-away point at Matthias back on Day 2, when the vote didn't matter. The big two on the vote at that point wree Ramsus and Rakkoon. We now know Ramsus to be a wolf. Eventually someone managed to manipulate the vote onto Razorvor, but at that point Ramsus was still in danger. It would have looked bad if Grimmace had voted for Rakkoon only for Ramsus to be lynched and turn out to be a wolf anyway. Instead he voted off-wagon to play safe, and the Razorvor wagon turned up to rescue Ramsus. Seem's very iffy to me.
Of course, this could be said about a few people that day, and yesterday too, but The Grimmace is the one that's raising alarm bells for me. I think we should go for him barring any better target today. My gut feelings been right once already, I'd like to follow it again now there's some logic to back my suspicion up.

Re: Werewolf: Classic XIII
It's true of course, and I'm not going to fight it too much, because so far, using a bunch of logic hasn't worked out well for me, but I'd just like to explain myself on a couple of things.
First of all, you have to understand that this is my very first game of Werewolf ever, so on day 2 I didn't know a bunch of different strategies and things wolves do and that sort of stuff. I took my vote off of Ramsus on day two because he asked not to be lynched for no reason. Then I just put it on someone I had a gut suspicion of and left it at that.
Secondly, I do enjoy the occasional debate, and RL just handed me one on a silver platter. In fact, he singled me out in one of his points, and from there I felt I had to defend my reasoning to the end. It actually made for a pretty enjoyable, albeit short, logical debate.
Anyways, that's all I have to say on the matter. And for now I'll point atRakkoon.Last edited by Zjoot; 2011-07-06 at 07:52 PM.

Re: Werewolf: Classic XIII
Hmm. Grimmace felt suspicious to me back on the day I pointed at him, whenever that was. It was a bit of a gut feeling, and also partially because he's been trying to lay low with throw-off points like Banjo said. I figure unless we get something from our proxy, it's as good a target as any.

To make things REALLY interesting, Julian84 for a 3-way tie.
Also, because I need to point to avoid auto-lynch and I don't want to leave it 'til later in case I forget. Point may be subject to change.Last edited by Tasroth; 2011-07-06 at 10:37 AM.

Re: Werewolf: Classic XIII
Greetings, citizens! No announcements today, as our camera network was unable to spot any activity last night.
The overseer looks at three monitors which are still functioning. In each, a small mob surrounds three victims:
-The repair crew had finally trapped the Rakkoon, and were trying to herd it to the Aperture Science Emergency Intelligence Incinerator with treats. Probably a job best left to the professionals, as based on last year's G.O.A.T.
-Julian silently ((so far)) faces his accusers. The overseer records the video for further viewing.
-The Grimmace seems the most active, pacing back and forth and gesticulating wildly. Although there is no audio, the overseer can guess that he is arguing against his opponents.
((Just a gut feeling I've had for a while now))
Shots rang out, as shots are wont to do.

Re: Werewolf: Classic XIII
Well, the top two on my suspicion list are our two vote leaders.
Either way I'm happy! I still think there's a bigger pool of logic to support a case against Grimmace though, whereas my hunch on Julian was an early-game gut feeling that has faded as the games progressed.

I've had the same gut feeling as Comrade Overseer, so Grimmace it is.

Re: Werewolf: Classic XIII
Excerpt from “The Rise and Fall of Sanctuary 13” by Timothy Tiberius
Chapter 15 – A Religious Pattern
…that was the way. No one knew why or how it came about but a pattern emerged. Every day one person was lynched by popular vote. Every night a life was taken, presumably by those having undergone the mutation although proof is usually circumstantial at best.
This pattern evidently seemed so natural to those within Sanctuary 13 that when on the sixth night nobody was attacked, conspiracy theories sprang up everywhere. Maybe there was a “Wolfy Hibernation”? Maybe a “Mysterious Protection” as there had been on the second night. One theory that gained enough popularity to have been recorded in a young girl’s journal (unfortunately we do not know her name) was that their entire night had been consumed in worshipping the Devil!
Whatever the reason the pattern is plain and what’s more important was that it was plain to the occupants of Sanctuary 13 at the time. Maybe not consciously but they all held to a “one-a-day, one-a-night” mentality on some level.
I title the chapter thusly to mention a second strange outbreak of religious leanings (You will remember the Ra worship mentioned earlier); this time in the divine providence of “Fate”. Fate. Chance. Luck. Usually these things are too fickle to garner much faith, however, around the tenth day after the wolves were discovered the consensus of the Sanctuary was that one of two men should die. We know no more about them than their names: Julian and Grimmace. Anyway for every person who voted for Grimmace there was another who voted for Julian. Every now and then one would stick their neck into the lead but only for the other to come and close the gap.
Eventually it was suggested (unfortunately we do not know who by) that they should both be lynched which caused uproar. I attribute this to the Sanctuaries one-a-day, one-a-night pattern but it is only a theory. To quiet the masses the suggestion was modified. They would both be lynched but as soon as one died the other would be cut down. Apparently this was a good enough compromise as this is what they did.
Julian and Grimmace were strung up together. Both looking daggers at the other. Each determined to cling to life longer than the other. Swordsmen with blades bared stood alongside each ready to cut their rope the instant the other went limp. A count of three was given and the trapdoors under them both fell away.
I will not describe the details of the hanging (although it was recorded on holo-sphere). Suffice is to say that Grimmace went limp, Julian was cut down and the crowd waited expectantly. At first nothing happened but then something knocked the crowd off their feet. The ring of people were all blown backwards away from the gallows. As they got up and looked again they saw Grimmace was still swinging but in front of him a fearsome creature floated in mid-air, laughing. Cloven feet, furry legs and burning eyes. This was no wolf but a devil of their nightmares.
You cannot kill me. Only…inconvenience me. This is our thirteenth battle and it won’t be the last!
Those were his words before he vanished in a plume of black acrid smoke leaving the swinging body of Grimmace behind.
Fate had delivered them from the devil himself it seemed. How could it not garner some worship from that? Personally I wouldn’t advise…
Summary: The Grimmace was Lynched. He was the Devil.
Night 10 begins now and ends in about 24 hours.
