Chess Men (question, possible project)

So, I was reading a good D&D comic and they just fought a chess set. I was wondering in anyone has made a chess set or some other sort of chess-themed monster. Because, if not, I think that's a pretty gaping hole in material, and I'm going to have to make it...

Wizards already did it. I believe it was in Dragon 358 or 359, but I could be wrong about the precise issue of it.

One of the Dragon magazines has chesspieces as creatures. I dunno which one off the top of my head, but I could look it up.

Ah. Well, seeing as I don't own any dragon magazines, I suspect that I'm probably going to have to make them, now.
