    Default [4E DnD] Swordmage Powers (PEACH)

    Though effective, Swordmages are definitely in need of power support, especially with respect to their at-wills (6 versus the Wizard's 22!). I've come up with the following:

    Level 1 At-Wills:

    Surprising Transposition - Swordmage Attack 1
    You exchange positions with an ally, teleporting him to safety as you strike out at your foe, commanding his attention.
    At-Will - Arcane, Teleportation, Weapon
    Standard Action - Melee
    weapon
    Effect: You and an ally adjacent to you or adjacent to an enemy you are also adjacent to teleport, swapping places. If you teleport in this way, you have combat advantage for this attack against an adjacent enemy.
    Target: One creature
    Attack: Intelligence vs. AC
    Hit: 1[W] + Intelligence modifier damage, and you teleport the target to a square adjacent to you.
    Level 21: 2[W] + Intelligence modifier damage.


    Shield of Swords - Swordmage Attack 1
    As you cast your sword in an arc, translucent blades of force follow in its wake, warding you and your allies against danger.
    At-Will - Arcane, Force, Weapon
    Standard Action - Close

    Target: Each enemy in the burst
    Attack: Intelligence vs. AC
    Hit: 1[W] force damage.
    Effect: You gain an aura 1 until the end of your next turn. You and allies within the aura gain resist all equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum 1).
    Level 21: 2[W] damage. The resist all is equal to 3 + your Constitution modifier.
    Aegis of Shielding: Whenever a non-minion creature hits you or an ally within the aura with a melee attack, it takes Constitution modifier force damage (minimum 1). A creature can only take damage from the aura once per turn.


    Aegis Strike - Swordmage Attack 1
    The fall of your blade subjects an enemy to the scorn of your aegis.
    At-Will - Arcane, Weapon
    Standard Action - Melee

    Attack: Intelligence vs. AC
    Hit: 1[W] + Intelligence modifier damage, and the target is marked by your Swordmage Aegis power until the end of your next turn. Marking the target in this way does not end the mark on another creature already affected by your Swordmage Aegis. If the target is already subject to your Swordmage Aegis, it can't shift until the end of your next turn.
    Level 21: 2[W] + Intelligence modifier damage.
    Special: You can use this power as a melee basic attack.


    Grasping Strike - Swordmage Attack 1
    Tendrils of force surge forth from your weapon, holding your foe firmly in place.
    At-Will - Arcane, Force, Weapon
    Standard Action - Melee

    Target: One creature
    Attack: Intelligence vs. Reflex
    Hit: 1[W] force damage. You pull the target to a square adjacent to you and grab the target. This grab occupies no hands, and attempts to escape the grab are against your highest defense.
    Sustain Standard: The grab is sustained. You can slide the target 1 square to a square adjacent to you, and the target takes 1[W] force damage.
    Level 21: 2[W] force damage. When you sustain this power it deals 2[W] force damage instead.
    Aegis of Ensnarement: The target cannot teleport while grabbed in this way, and takes a penalty to escape attempts made against this power's grabs equal to your Wisdom modifier.


    Enmity Strike - Swordmage Attack 1
    A broad stroke of your weapon foreshadows the threat of your presence; your enemies ignore it at their own peril.
    At-Will - Arcane, Weapon
    Standard Action - Close burst

    Target: Up to three creatures in the burst. Each target must be adjacent to at least one other target.
    Attack: Intelligence vs. AC
    Hit: 1[W] + Intelligence modifier damage. Until the end of your next turn, if the target makes an attack that doesn't include you as a target, you gain a power bonus to attack rolls against the target equal to half your Strength modifier.
    Level 21: 2[W] + Intelligence modifier damage.
    Aegis of Assault: Until the end of your next turn, if the target makes an attack that doesn't include you as a target, you gain bonus to damage rolls against the target equal to your Strength modifier.



    Winter Whorl - Swordmage Attack 1
    Whirling your blade above your head, you encase yourself in a cyclone of ice and cold.
    At-Will - Arcane, Cold, Implement
    Standard Action - Close
    burst 1
    Target: Each enemy in the burst
    Attack: Intelligence vs. Fortitude
    Hit: Intelligence modifier cold damage.
    Effect: Until the end of your next turn you gain an aura 1. Squares within the aura count as difficult terrain to enemies. Enemies within the aura are slowed and cannot shift.
    Level 21: 5 + Intelligence modifier cold damage.


    Flame Burst - Swordmage Attack 1
    Driving your blade into the ground, a geyser of flame erupts from the impact to envelop your foes.
    At-Will - Arcane, Fire, Implement, Zone
    Standard Action - Close
    burst 1
    Target: Each enemy in the burst
    Attack: Intelligence vs. Reflex
    Hit: 1d8 fire damage.
    Level 21: 2d8 fire damage.
    Effect: The burst creates a zone of flames that lasts until the end of your next turn. Any enemy that enters the zone or ends its turn there takes Intelligence modifier fire damage. A creature can only take this damage once per turn.


    Arc of Storm - Swordmage Attack 1
    At the thrust of your blade, a surge of lightning darts forth, bolts bounding from foe to foe.
    At-Will - Arcane, Implement, Lightning
    Standard Action - Close

    Target: Each enemy in the blast
    Attack: Intelligence vs. Reflex
    Hit: 1d6 lightning damage. One enemy other than a target of this power within a close burst 3 of the target takes Intelligence modifier lightning damage.
    Level 21: 2d6 lightning damage. One enemy other than a target of this power within a close burst 3 of the target takes 5 + Intelligence modifier lightning damage.


    Grounding Thrust - Swordmage Attack 1
    Your blade momentarily steeps in arcane energy before unleashing a blast of concussive force.
    At-Will - Arcane, Force, Thunder Weapon
    Standard Action - Melee

    Target: One creature
    Attack: Intelligence vs. Fortitude
    Hit: 1[W] force and thunder damage and you push the target 1 + Strength modifier or Constitution modifier squares (minimum 1). If you used this power as part of a charge, you knock the target prone.
    Level 21: 2[W] force and thunder damage.
    Special: You can use this power in place of a melee basic attack during a charge.


    Blink Charge - Swordmage Attack 1
    You phase between worlds as you run down the target of your enmity.
    At-Will - Arcane, Teleportation, Weapon
    Standard Action - Melee
    weapon
    Target: One creature
    Effect: If not using this power as part of a charge, you teleport to a square adjacent to the target. Otherwise if you're using this power as part of a charge and the target is marked, you teleport to a square adjacent to the target.
    Attack: Intelligence vs. AC
    Hit: 1[W] + Intelligence modifier damage.
    Special: When teleporting with this power, you do not need line of sight or effect to the destination space. If you try to teleport into a space that you cannot occupy, the teleportation is negated.
    Level 21: 2[W] + Intelligence modifier damage.
    Special: You can use this power in place of a melee basic attack during a charge.


    Temporal Ripple - Swordmage Attack 1
    With a quick incantation your weapon crates a ripple in space/time that reorients the battlefield.
    At-Will - Arcane, Force, Implement, Teleportation
    Standard Action - Close

    Target: Each enemy in the burst
    Attack: Intelligence vs. Will
    Hit: 1d6 force damage. You teleport the target to a square in or adjacent to the zone, and can teleport yourself or an ally in the burst to a square in or adjacent to the zone.
    Level 21: 2d6 force damage.
    Effect: The burst creates a zone until the end of your next turn. Whenever a creature marked by you ends its turn in the zone, you can use an opportunity action to teleport that creature to a square in or adjacent to the zone

    Arcane Strike - Swordmage Attack 1
    Nothing may stay your blade as it seeks out your foe unfailingly, guided by the magic of your mark.
    At-Will - Arcane, Force, Weapon
    Standard Action - Melee

    Target: One creature you have marked
    Effect: 1[W] force damage. If this attack is made as an opportunity attack, this attack deals Intelligence modifier extra damage and ignores all resistances and immunities.
    Level 21: 2[W] force damage.
    Aegis of Assault: If this attack is made as an opportunity attack, increase the extra damage by your Strength modifier, and its damage gains all the types the target is vulnerable to.
    Special: You can use this power in place of a melee basic attack when you make an opportunity attack.


    Cage of Lightning - Swordmage Attack 1
    Lightning arcs from your blade, comprising a binding circle of sparking electricity.
    At-Will - Arcane, Implement, Lightning
    Standard Action - Close

    Target: Each enemy in the burst
    Attack: Intelligence vs. Reflex
    Hit: 1d8 lightning damage.
    Level 21: 2d8 lightning damage.
    Effect: You gain an aura 1 until the end of your next turn. Enemies within the aura that fully leave the aura, or make a melee attack against a creature outside of the aura take 1d8 + Intelligence modifier lightning damage. A creature can only take this damage once per turn.


    Warding Strike - Swordmage Attack 1
    When you strike a foe, the air shifts and wavers about a nearby ally, shielding it with a barrier of force.
    At-Will - Arcane, Force, Weapon
    Standard Action - Melee

    Target: One creature
    Attack: Intelligence vs. AC
    Hit: 1[W] + Intelligence modifier force damage.
    Effect: A creature within a close burst 5 gains temporary hit points equal to your Intelligence modifier. Temporary hit points gained in this way stack with existing temporary hit points on that creature.
    Level 21: 2[W] + Constitution modifier force damage. The temporary hit points gained equal 5 + your Intelligence modifier.
    Aegis of Shielding: Increase the number of temporary hit points by your Constitution modifier. At 21st level increase it by 3 + your Constitution modifier.


    Abjuring Assault - Swordmage Attack 1
    You shield an ally with a bubble of repulsing energies while your sword cuts into the enemy.
    At-Will - Arcane, Force, Weapon
    Standard Action - Melee

    Attack: Intelligence vs. AC
    Hit: 1[W] + Intelligence modifier force damage.
    Level 21: 2[W] + Intelligence modifier force damage.
    Effect: A creature within a close burst 5 gains an aura 1 until the end of your next turn. The aura is difficult terrain to enemies. Whenever an enemy starts or ends its turn in the aura, that creature is pushed to a square outside of the aura.


    Compelling Blade - Swordmage Attack 1
    The fall of your blade bestows a minor compulsion upon your enemy.
    At-Will - Arcane, Charm, Psychic, Weapon
    Standard Action - Melee

    Target: One creature marked by you
    Attack: Intelligence vs. AC
    Hit: 1[W] + Intelligence modifier psychic damage.
    Level 21: 2[W] + Intelligence modifier psychic damage.
    Effect: Whenever the target would make an attack that could target you and does not, it must make a saving throw. If the target is marked by you, it takes a -5 penalty to this saving throw. On a failure you can have that attack target you instead. If the target is an wall, burst or blast, you must be one of the targets.


    Hexing Blade - Swordmage Attack 1
    Black-violet light flares about your weapon, punishing those who would disobey your mark.
    At-Will - Arcane, Necrotic, Psychic, Shadow, Weapon
    Standard Action - Melee

    Target: One creature marked by you
    Attack: Intelligence vs. AC
    Hit: 1[W] + Intelligence modifier necrotic and psychic damage.
    Level 21: 2[W] + Intelligence modifier necrotic and psychic damage.
    Effect: The first time the target hits an ally until the end of your next turn, it takes necrotic and psychic damage equal to the damage dealt to that ally, or necrotic and psychic damage equal to 5 + your level, whichever is greater.
    Aegis of Assault: Increase the damage dealt to the target from the effect by your Strength modifier.
    Aegis of Assault: The target is slowed and cannot shift until the end of your next turn.
    Aegis of Shielding: The damaged ally gains Constitution modifier temporary hit points.

    Banishing Stroke - Swordmage Attack 1
    Space roils and bends before the fall of your weapon, whisking your target away to a nearby space.
    At-Will - Arcane, Force, Teleportation, Weapon
    Standard Action - Melee

    Target: One creature
    Attack: Intelligence vs. AC
    Hit: 1[W] + Wisdom modifier force damage. You teleport the target 2 squares, or to a square adjacent to you.
    Level 21: 2[W] + Wisdom modifier force damage.
    Special: When making an opportunity attack, you can use this power in place of a melee basic attack.


    Arcane Shackles - Swordmage Attack 1
    Sizzling white-blue chains of force and arcing lightning bind your foes to your blade, preventing any escape.
    At-Will - Arcane, Force, Lightning, Implement
    Standard Action - Close
    burst 1
    Target: Each enemy in the burst
    Attack: Intelligence vs. Fortitude
    Hit: 1d6 force and lightning damage. Until the end of your next turn, whenever the target willingly moves to a square further away from you, it takes 1d6 + Intelligence modifier force and lightning damage. A creature can only take damage in this way once per turn.
    Level 21: 2d6 force and lightning damage.
    Aegis of Ensnarement: Whenever the target willingly moves to a square not adjacent to you, it takes Wisdom modifier extra damage.


    Thunderous Reverb - Swordmage Attack 1
    From the tip of your blade, you unleash a disorienting tide of concussive thunder that crashes amidst your foes, the force of your attack magnified as it rebounds off those within the blast.
    At-Will - Arcane, Thunder, Implement
    Standard Action - Close blast

    Target: Each enemy in the blast
    Attack: Intelligence vs. Fortitude
    Hit: 1d6 thunder damage, +1 extra damage for each creature in the blast. The target takes a -1 penalty to attack rolls until the end of your next turn. Increase this penalty by -1 for every two creatures in the blast.
    Level 21: 2d6 thunder damage, +2 extra damage for each creature in the blast.

    Update: Lots of balance changes, some wording clarification. Added Thunderous Reverb.
