What's your favorite die?
I didn't see a thread like this on the front page, but there's probably one further down.
Anyhow, what is your favorite die type? These can be standard D&D dice, d30s, weird dice, anything. Pics would be appreciated.
Personally, I'm partial to the d12. It's the outcast of the group, but it's got a nice shape and size, looks cool, and could be used to cut huge d6 pools in half.Countdown To Zombie Apocalypse 99

Re: What's your favorite die?
Interesting. I suppose my favourite die is the d12 as well. As said, it's an often neglected little die if certain classes aren't in play at the time, but it has a nice feel to it. The d20 is a close second due to the fact that it just feels like 'The Decider'.
My girlfriend's is the d6. I only mention because she once based a play session over using it as often as possible, due to it being the only 'familiar' die.
She... She's loosened up.It stands for 'At the Convenience of the Experimenter'.

Re: What's your favorite die?
Fudge dice, also known as the dF. The d6 is second, due to its utility in dice pool systems, the d8 in third, due to personal preference regarding odds of success in dice pool systems.
I'm also fond of proper d(odd number)s, particularly d3s as they tend to have interesting forms if they aren't spindle dice. Case in point:

Re: What's your favorite die?
I made a d48, d60, and d120 out of rubber balls, with pins for the vertices and thread to mark the edges. Those are probably my favorites.
(And, since I am a purist, the opposite sides added up to 49, 61, and 121, respectively.)

Re: What's your favorite die?
d12. It has enough sides to roll and not just flop, while the individual sides are still large enough for it to feel solid and stable. I also seem to have good luck with them, partly because I don't use them often.

Re: What's your favorite die?
I'm a fan of the d8. The poor, often ignored d8. I like the shape, and it doesn't have oddly shaped sides or look like a ball like its larger cousins. I guess the d10 would rank up there as well, primarily due to enjoying the WoD system.

Re: What's your favorite die?
I'm another fan of the d12. I've always wanted to see more done with it. Especially since it can pretty much duplicate a d6 or d4 through simple division.

Re: What's your favorite die?
D6. The most common. The most varied (in color and such).
PS you can't use a D12 to cut a D6 pool in half. Take 2 D6s, the minimum is 2. VS 1d12. The minimum is 1. See my point? So when you get huge pools it can really make a difference.Murder is wrong... Unless it levels you up.

Re: What's your favorite die?
My favorite is the d8. It rolls a bit awkwardly, but I like the shape. After that, probably the d20, and then the d12.

Re: What's your favorite die?
the good old d6 since I roll almost all my damage with that.
As for specific die, my purple and gold plastic D20 and my hematite d20 since they almost always roll high. :)

Re: What's your favorite die?
I actually prefer d8s and was surprised to hear someone call them "often ignored" in this thread. (Not trying to be rude, I was genuinely surprised by that statement)
I use d8s for almost all my dice rolling (Well, all my non-d20 rolling anyway). Weapon damage rolls? I like longswords for my warriors and morningstars for my clerics. Special attack rolls? Dragonborn of Bahamut have d8 breath weapons. Weapon-like spells? Lesser Orbs do 1d8/2 levels of damage. Hit dice? Sometimes, if I'm playing a cleric, though usually it's a d10.

The d8 is a nice, elegant shape. The d4 can die in a fire for continually trying to kill my wizard.

Re: What's your favorite die?
For a few dice, the d8. For many, give me the d6 (comes with being a warhammer player, I guess. Nothing is as satisfying as rolling 40-50d6 and counting it all up)

Re: What's your favorite die?
With a (fair) d12, all results have an equal chance coming up. With 2d6, there is more combinations that make certain numbers. With 2d6, 7 can up from 1+6, 2+5, 3+4, 4+3, 5+2, and 6+1, six different ways, while 12, will only come up with one combination, 6+6. Very different odds those. The difference is what is called the probability distribution.
***
As for my favourite, I like the lonely d12. It rolls well and there is something nice of been able to come up with a double digit number on three different results.
