Re: OOTS #802 - The Discussion Thread
Oooh, crap...
...and, if I am not mistaken, getting out of that demi-plane requires spells that belong to one of the forbidden schools for V, right?
One thing I like is that V has learned not to allow Z's quips to get at him. It takes him an effort of will, but he manages to resist his impulse.
That's good, I think.Last edited by JoseB; 2011-08-22 at 04:21 PM.

Important lessons learned here: never listen to what the evil guy says when you're about to kill him.

Is that plain Ranch Dressing, or Spicy Jalapeno Ranch Dressing? It has red and green dots, so I'm thinking spicy.

now that was unexpected. interesting that Z survives, so perhaps Linear Guild will be around to participate in the big ending (not just the Girard gate cycle).

No...no, looks like the OOTS Wild Mass Guessing page doesn't mention ranch dressing anywhere. Tapioca perhaps.

Re: OOTS #802 - The Discussion Thread
Durkon could always prepare Plane Shift the next day and bring V back.
I can't see any sort of extended plot point taking place in a salad condiment.
Edit: Assuming he somehow knows what plane V went to. Dismissal is probably more likely.Last edited by sparkyinbozo; 2011-08-22 at 04:34 PM.

Re: OOTS #802 - The Discussion Thread
Pretty desperate move to cast Plane Shift on a wizard, even one that has a forbidden school problem. Also, it may have been wiser for Z to cast it on himself.
Generally a good comic in concept and execution. Nice to see V start to understand.
But the one detail of Ranchdressingland does not do anything for me. Titanium and Chlorine elementals were funny. But surely there must have been something funny yet less kooky than salad dressing.
At least it will be a good place for V to relax and vegetate...I owe Peelee 5 Quatloos. But I am going double or nothing that Durkon will be casting 8th level spells at the big finale.
I bet Goblin_Priest 5 quatloos that Xykon does not know RC has the phylactery at this point in the tale (#1139).
Using my Bardic skills I see the fate of Belkar...so close!

Re: OOTS #802 - The Discussion Thread
Prediction spoiler'd to not spoil it.
Spoiler
Actually to return all she needs is a self-targetted dismissal, which is abjuration. I believe he's used it before in the Azure City battle... and now I've jinxed V's main chance at getting back. Whelp this could be a while, enjoy the ranchy goodness.

Re: OOTS #802 - The Discussion Thread
That's true. V's very lucky in tht regard; I don't think Z was thinking too clearly about where he was sending V, other than just "away," or else V would have ended up somewhere impossibly dangerous.
Just imagining the V that might return from spending even one night in Pandemonium..."It is important to draw wisdom from many different places. If you take it from only one place, it becomes rigid and stale." --Iroh
