MoonCat just read all of xkcd front to back, with alt-texts, for the first time. Woohoo!

I wish you wouldn't use that word. And fighting is always stupid. EDIT: They aren't going to fight each other now, though.
Congratulations. The only thing I ever did that for was 8-Bit Theatre. xkcd probably has more strips.
Also, does anybody here watch Columbo? Man, I love that show.

Re: Heliomance's Bemusing, Confusingly Inconsistent Random Banter #167
no? Unless that's the names of the texts you get when you mouse over the comic, but they're called alt-texts on TvTropes...
Yeah, I've read QC all the way through a few times. Once backwards. THAT was fun!
It'll probably have 946 by the time we refresh it, it's Thursday night.
Never got into Eight-Bit. Even if I could stand sprite comics, there's nothing worse than eight-bit sprites. They give me a headache, and the story was entirely uninteresting, no matter how many times I forced myself though around a hundred and fifty crappy comics, it never caught me.Spoiler: This signature is a historical relic from a long-ago time of regular forum activity.Aww man! Re: Heliomance's Bemusing, Confusingly Inconsistent Random Banter #167
I can stand the stick figures (xkcd makes me laugh all the time) but i never was able to read it from start to finish because the first group of 'comics' were largely what looked like concept art for boats, trees on a planet, and other things. And then when it got to those comics they just weren't funny. (Snapple? Really? -_-)
Turns out i'm not very patient.
EDIT: Make that 'sketches'.Last edited by HalfTangible; 2011-09-01 at 11:09 PM.

Re: Heliomance's Bemusing, Confusingly Inconsistent Random Banter #167
Oh! I didn't mean to offend you. I'm sorry!
I totally get it though. That's what kept me from reading the archive before, a problem which I cleverly fixed by reading it backwards. It gets ****tier very slowly, and by the time it's boring we can just click through in anticipation of the end being ten strips away.Spoiler: This signature is a historical relic from a long-ago time of regular forum activity.Aww man! Re: Heliomance's Bemusing, Confusingly Inconsistent Random Banter #167
I for once disagree with both, I find the sketches as good as, if not better than the comic, their value lies in different places, while the sketches are great, and hold certain humour in either composition or thematics, they tend more toward the completely random and surreal giggling of them, while the comics are more streamlined into a punchline and an actual joke.

Re: Heliomance's Bemusing, Confusingly Inconsistent Random Banter #167
No, I like the sketches. But the earlier jokes I disliked, as they weren't actually all that funny, and not all that great artwise either. I mean, there's stick figures that wouldn't look out of place as some sort of Mac logo, and there's the stick figures that look like he scanned a ballpoint pen doodle while scrawling, which is pretty much what he did. The sketches are actually quite nice, but it was boring to read stuff like the Scrapple Jack joke, which didn't make sense, and the Irony strip, which was just plain BLEH.

I'm exuberant, and euphoric, and energised, and just plain ALIVE!
I have no idea why an early morning cycle across the common to watch the sunrise has had such a strong effect on me, but I like it. I need to do that more often. Like, ever.Quotebox

Jesus. Good god. What the hell.
Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution, has a bug that makes a mission impossible to complete. I...in this day and age, with a game this high profile, it should not be this EASY to BREAK A GAME LIKE THIS.
Strike 2. Strike, freaking, two.

Considering that they refuse to have a polished X-COM, of all things, and instead made a cover-based shooter which punishes you for using the alien's weaponry against them.... I don't think much could really surprise me at this point.

Re: Heliomance's Bemusing, Confusingly Inconsistent Random Banter #167
xkcd is awesome. Not so much the jokes, which are usually good, and the meta referentialness, which is always awesome, but the ideas that the guy comes up with. You know, stuff to actually do. Geo-location, kite photography, the recent webcam-cloud idea, rollercoaster chess, hell, that whole see the sunset twice idea. And the fact that he makes it actually viable. He's obviously a guy who manages to enjoy life to the fullest. Which is awesome.
Also, Deus Ex 3? I never even knew they were making one. Excuse me while I go have a nerdgasm.Awesome fremetar by wxdruid.
From the discomfort of truth there is only one refuge and that is ignorance. I do not need to be comfortable, and I will not take refuge. I demand to *know*.
So I guess I have an internets? | And a trophy. | And a music cookie (whatever that is).
