I could have sworn that a similar quote was used by Bard in The Hobbit when he shot Smaug with the black arrow. I just wish I could find the quote somewhere. I dont want to have to dig up my book wherever its hiding and look for it.

Actually, it's from an 80s animated film called The Flight of Dragons. You probably saw it as a kid if the line's familiar to you.

Bard said something more along the lines of "Black arrow, you're awesome. Later."

Actually, I think it was a freaking soliloquy where he makes this speech about how this arrow has always been in his family, always struck true, always been recovered, etc etc etc, then aims and lets fly! Thank god that single missing scale was apparently directly over the top of all Smaugs vital organs. Seriously, one single scale missing, so small of a target that noone could notice it till a bird points it out to Bard. And yet it just happens to be in an important spot?

No, just "Arrow! Black arrow! I have saved you to the last. You have never failed me and always I have recovered you. I had you from my father and he from old. If ever you came from the forges of the true king under the Mountain, go now and speed well!"

Now I'm remembering this from when I was ten reading my dad's books, but it seems like a level eight ranger could cast burning hands, doing 8 damage to all desired targets. Alternatively, he could cast 8 magic missiles, doing 1d4 each.
