Pokemon: The End Times (IC)

[Hefty Lefty]

The pokeball quickly encapsulates the dying horsea into a red beam of light. The red and white ball rocks slowly. Ryan focuses her attention on the ball. "C'mon..." the rest of the madness around her dims to black. One rock...two rocks... *boop*. The pokeball makes a light computerized sound, then flies back into Ryan's hand. Her eyes light up. "All right!!" She gives an enthusiastic fist pump and nearly knocks herself over. In her fury of excitement, she forgets about the giant beastie in the corner. No time for celebrating. Not yet. "C'mon poliwag, keep sleepin' em!"

ANOTHER HORSEA IS ASLEEP! Neither one awakes, leaving only two to continue their futile assault on poliwag.

The two attacking vulpix continue their sudsy assault-

Horseas use Bubble! One hits! It's Super Effective! dealing 4 points of damage- bringing vulpix down to 15 HP.

Four Horseas now turn to face the slugger eevee, (3 to the left, and one to the right) catching it in a crossfire!

meanwhile, the jellyfish continues to froth an insurmountable amount of foam.

Echo's wok drops down hard onto a wee sea pony's head.

The wok smashes down on one of the sleeping horseas skull.

The tentacruel begins a high pitched whine, roaring as it unleashes a spay of bubbles amidst a blue energy beam.

Ryan's pokedex emits one haunting word:

BuBbLeBEaM

You watch in horror as what only can be described as a bubble-cannon fires at you.

Wheres it going? what's its target?

you wince, bracing for the impact.

BOOM

all the wind is knocked out of your chest. the hallway and room fills with water, you are tossed beneath the waves like a rag doll. you can't right yourself, and then you feel sucked down deeper and deeper...you try to grab on to the bulkheads, the railing, anything, but the bubbles make the surfaces slick. it's dark but you feel like you are being pulled by a current.

Suddenly you tumble forward a bit, and then your direction changes, you are rocketed up and up and up until you are violently shot out of a hatch in the middle of the floor. You spit water and blood, and (coming from a sea faring town) you recognize this as some kind of bilge area. so much water must have built up that it burst a compartment, or activated an emergency pump.

All four of you, along with your pokemon, and a few dead horseas are all that are in this small rectangular room. As the water continues to fountain up and out of the center hatch, you hear yourselves shouting to each other- GET IT SHUT BACK ME UP F*CK THIS **** WORK TOGETHER But just as you are starting to overcome the pressure, a tentacle reaches up from the foam and swats you away. Allen's neck snaps back so fast, you think he may be dead, but the little guy shakes his head, and rolls back to his feet.

My god

It pulls itself up and out of that pipe, with such anger, such hatred, it nearly pulls itself apart. if it had bones, every one of them would be shattered.

Its out in seconds, and trying to envelope you, but your pokemon jump between it. You all put your weight into one last shove, and get the hatch sealed just in time. The room is so large, there are only a few puddles of water- and only one leviathan.

BOSS BATTLE

New Turn order, new battle: Poliwag Vulpix Eevee Geodude Tentacruel

[Hefty Lefty]

Ryan picks herself up from the corner of the room she landed in. Ow. F*ck. She rubs her right hip and can already feel the tender bruise sinking in. She looks around for poliwag, but the resourceful water creature easily rode out the bubbles. It stands in the middle of the room staring down the tentacled demon. "Sleep it!" Ryan yells through the pain.

[Red Mage]

The Kraken's eyes burn like cold fire. It is ready to do murder...but suddenly the flame in its heart is blown out, and the little polliwog lulls it asleep!

Kraken falls asleep!

Allen's neck throbs in near agony, but he fights on, despite Chimaera's looks of concern, and vulpix's squeaks of worry. He points to the beast-

"Make a hole in its defense!"

Vulpix charges forward and whips her tail at the sensitive root of a tentacle, leaving it hanging numb and useless.

[Renegade Mook]

Milo lets out a mouthful of water. The inside of his head is blaring, as if it had been scrubbed out with bleach. He snaps back to an alert posture. "That ugly octopus won't stay sleeping too long, eevee! Get it square between the eyes before it can get another blast!" Eevee scampers up the ribs of a broken pump tube and rockets downward towards the tentacruel.

Eevee rams into the jelly body with such speed it feels as if its going to break through to the other side; but oh it doesnt, it is launched furiously back toward chimaera, doing little overall damage to the monster...but it "bleeds" a little bit more.

Eevee tackles the tentacruel for 5 points of damage.

[Sitzkrieg]

Geodude is distinctly uncomfortable in the wet tank. A splash of water drains down his furrowed brow. "C'mon Geodude! No choice now! We gotta fight!" The pokemon growls and drifts far above the heaving leviathan before dive-bombing the mass of rubbery tentacles, impervious to the poison. Meanwhile Echo flings his wok at the beast as well, to no effect.

Geodude rushes forward hungry for the struggle, its been cooped up for too long, and is ready for the pain.
He gears up for the big hit, putting all his girth into a strike to the jelly's forehead-

That was a big hit...that didnt do much...

But it bleeds a bit more...

As it awakes!

It shudders off the pain and launches a tentacle hook at the swirly little amphibian.

Ryan grunts as the stinger nearly comes out the other side of her poliwag's thin-skinned belly. "Put it back to sleep!" She commands, pacing around about ten feet behind her pokemon. She remains alert; if that stinger ever came for her, she'd be dead in an instant. The lines on Mr. Swirly's belly spin slower. The poor creature was devastated by that last attack.

Yeesh, we can't even get a dent in that thing. For a moment, Milo considers the baseball bat in his right hand. No. That's a punk move; it doesn't do squat. Only people desperate enough to try it are the ones that know they're sunk anyway. Out of the corner of his eye, he catches Echo shouting geodude on. Ok, so Echo had a good reason to do it back there, but tentacruel is light-years beyond trumpet-schnozes in power. Eevee continues charging tentacruel, all the more ferociously after seeing what a single sting did to poliwag.

"You got it Geodude! Hit it in the eyes!" Geodude muscles under the monster's bell and throws itself like a speck of dust into the monster's face.

With it asleep, and its defenses even weaker, the bash brothers Eevee and geodude come up with even more tackle damage!

The one-two combo hits home, and the creature creaks like a dead oak, ready to tumble.

It continues to sleep...

You are certain now, the more consecutive hits you cause, the more the creature bleeds out...the mesoglea which had briefly "clotted" is really flowing out again after another two hit combo...

With the beastie sleeping, at least for the moment, Ryan and her poliwag have a second to react to the poisonous sting that devastated the amphibian. Attacking it with bubbles would do nothing, Ryan thinks, recalling the horseas' attacks on Mr. Swirly. Ryan pats down her pants to find the needle hanging in a plastic case on her belt. She rushes over to the poliwag and slides to her knees to administer the potion quickly. The liquid emitted from the syringe quickly absorbs into the poliwag's membrane and evidence of its healing powers can be seen immediately. Ryan backs away before the tentacruel can wake up. Mr. Swirly wags his tail ready for more battle.

There's nothing left to do now but wait and watch the the two desperate strikers , eevee and geodude chip away at the tentacruel's defenses. Milo, Echo, Ryan and Allen can only pray that tentacruel not stir from its slumber...

he hits the exact same spot, with only slightly less intensity.

Eevee and Geodude use tackle! It does a combined damage of 13 points, leading to some more bleeding...

[Red Mage]

It falls over into a puddle of its own jelly. it shudders in pain, and then goes limp and lifeless.

It's dead...

You begin the approach, cautiously, staying at the ready. Eevee and geodude at the vanguard.

That actually wasn't too bad...

Out of its innards spews a sheer geyser of purple ooze. It smothers the pebble and cat duo...smoking and corroding everything underneath. Smoke billows up and you can smell burnt skin and scorched earth.

But the boulder emerges, holding its limp, enervated partner in the crook of his arms, shielding it from the acidic compound.

Eevee's fur is matted and patchy, its skin beneath is as burned as sin, black and bloody.

"Back off!" Ryan waves her hand, ushering her partners away from the tentacruel. The sharp hiss of eevee's burning skin sends shivers down everyone's spines. "Are y'all stupid!? Get away from it when it's awake! C'mon poliwag, fix that problem."

Dammit. Eevee!. Milo dashes halfway to the thrashing monster, to the spot where geodude lay eevee down. Eevee is already revving up for another charge at the tentacruel. "Eevee! Hold up!" Swiftly, he runs his hands along the loose skin above eevee's left shoulder blade searching for the best vein. "Ok, here it comes." Eevee gives something between a grunt and a suppressed whimper. ... "All done.". Milo chucks the empty syringe aside and only then realizes he had averted his gaze from his wounded pokemon. He turns back. "Sorry to do that eevee, but you're not in danger any more." Eevee's wounds begin to heal over at miraculous speeds; Milo's body feels thirty pounds lighter. Good. Now get out there and kick its ass into next Friday. Eevee gives a proud yip and scampers back to the battlefield.

"Geodude! That was too close! You have to protect the others!" Geodude grits his teeth with a grating, uncomfortable noise and spits out rust. It divebombs and harasses the monster, trying to draw its next attack.

Geodude rockets into the mass of tentacles once more, scrapping for dear life, trying to end the fight at all costs. With vulpix's help, it does do some significant damage, but not quite enough...

Tentacruel shudders like it did before in the kitchen...it looks as if it is going to fall, its eyes rolling back and its limbs going slack...but in mid tumble it catches itself and lets out another high pitched cry

And completely ignoring the boulder bludgeoning from below, it sets its sights on the two most indirect enemies, the ones which have opened it up to attacks.

Tentacruel uses acid! If poliwag is hit, it does 36 points of damage. If Vulpix gets hit, it does 28 points of damage. Poliwag is currently at 26 hp (full), and vulpix is at 15 hp (not full).

You must choose who dies, and who you save. One of the pokemon can be saved. You will "take the shot, take the hit" for one of them and only receive 4 points of damage. Make up your mind quickly or I fry them both.

Tentacruel's mouth drips a few drops more of acid, and then its eyes begin to glow, and it begins its bubbly frothing once again...
