music for the slithery bastard
if you're reading my campaign, there is a slight near-to-the-end spoiler here. you've been warned! (but i'd like your input, as you know Ipiks more than most)
some time ago i posted a thread for music for the final session in my campaign. it is coming fast.
i am still lacking music for one piece- meeting with an ex party member who betrayed them. a poisondusk lizardfolk swordsage mercenary, who since then also became a half fiend.
the encounter may go many ways, but basically the guy want's to deal and trade information with the party, in exchange for getting out of this. (though it can become a battle)
personality wise, he is a slithery bastard, or in one word- Belkar.
Mello's theme was suggested to me, and i like it A LOT but i fear it will automatically put the party in a combative mood.
when you're evil also came up, but it's a bit TOO sophisticated for the guy, and besides- my players will try deciphering the words instead of being in the encounter.

Re: music for the sly bastard
Something classical.
The soundtrack from the game Thief makes scoundrels happy.
Something contemporary (Either let it repeat itself, or maybe the full-length version is available in your area).
Or how about this one? Its slyness and bastardity can hardly be beaten!Do you use the mechanics to play the game,
or do you use the game to play the mechanics?
My opinion on paladins

Re: music for the sly bastard
Well, there's something oddly sneaky about the Danse macabre. There's also always...well, this. And, of course, the theme music to Cowboy Bebop.
Modest Mouse might also be a good place to go. I suggest This Devil's Workday for the zanier, more off-the wall character, and maybe something like Satin in a Coffin if you want to tone it down a bit. I also really like Missed the Boat. If you want something kind of spookier and more atmospheric, you could go with The Cold Part.
You could also go for some Decemberists (something like Culling of the Fold) though I'm not sure how strongly I'd recommend them considering some of the best "sly bastard" stuff is in the lyrics, which you don't want to distract from the game. On that note...
I also really like Little Drop of Poison by Tom Waits. It's especially good for a character with that perfect mix of style and sleaze. Though your players should have a hard time making out the lyrics, given that it's Tom Waits, he speaks pretty clearly in this one, and the lyrics are just perfect for this kind of character. My favorite lines are in bold:
Spoiler
I like my town with a little drop of poison
Nobody knows they're lining up to go insane
I'm all alone, I smoke my friends down to the filter
But I feel much cleaner after it rains
She left in the fall, that's her picture on the wall
She always had that little drop of poison
She left in the fall, that's her picture on the wall
She always had that little drop of poison
Did the devil make the world while god was sleeping?
Someone said you'll never get a wish from a bone
Another wrong good-bye and a hundred sailors
That deep blue sky is my home
She left in the fall, that's her picture on the wall
She always had that little drop of poison
She left in the fall, that's her picture on the wall
She always had that little drop of poison
A rat always knows when he's in with weasels
Here you lose a little every day
I remember when a million was a million
They all have ways to make you pay
They all have ways to make you pay...Dawning: The Age of Psionics
A work in progress that is slowly being transfered from my head to the internet.

Re: music for the sly bastard
I'm shooting in the dark here, but maybe something from Hellsing?
Someone actually sly might appreciate Funeral March of a marionette. It's rather uplifting, but "aren't those my good old friends. Long time no see."
If he is somewhat unhinged, then the latest of Tom Waits might fit, but the text might get in the way again. In a war it doesn't matter who's right, only who's left.

Re: music for the sly bastard
actually you're partly right i was confusing "sly" with "slithery" (being a lizardman he played it to the max.). usually i don't make mistakes in English, seems like a did in this one.
never the less, i liked "Little drop of poison" , and Cowboy Bebop. keep suggesting though!Check my extended signature

Re: music for the slithery bastard
Forgot about a nice little classic: Man With A Harmonica. It's a typical stnad-off music, so your players won't start a fight, if they are at least a bit genre savvy.
