    Default Pudurdle (3.PF monster)

Evan Dahm, a comic artist, drew a monster and released the image and the design into the public domain to see if anyone wanted to do anything with it.

I made it into a Pathfinder monster.

From a distance, it appears to be an unusually large coconut, but closer inspection reveals it to be rolling slowly under its own power.

    SPECIAL ABILITIES

    Roll Away (Ex)

When injured, a pudurdle will often try to flee from combat. When it does this, its legs retreat inside its shell and it clamps shut, leaving only a small slit for its eyes. When in this state, it loses its burrow speed and its slam attack, its move speed increases to 30 ft, and it gains an additional +2 bonus to natural armor. It will immediately roll away from its attacker as fast as possible, often running into nearby obstacles since it cannot consistently see what's in front of itself.

    Ecology

Environment grasslands and forests, anywhere with ground vegetation
Organization solitary, pair, family (3-6), or herd (7-20)
    Treasure incidental

Pudurdles are grazing animals. They spend most of their time inside their shells, with only their mouths exposed. They roll slowly across the ground, eating whatever plant matter they find underneath them. If they run into an obstacle or rough terrain, they will extend one or more of their fleshy limbs to aid their movement. A pudurdle is seldom more than three feet in diameter.

When threatened, all of the pudurdles in a group will let out a loud rumbling cry and begin to roll toward an attacker. In combat, they will extend their limbs and attempt to grab their opponent. Once a pudurdles opponent is grappled, they will repeatedly extend and retract their limbs, bludgeoning their opponent with their shell. If all of the attackers are grappled, other nearby pudurdles will roll away from the altercation.
