Pokemon Tabletop Adventures: Team Rocket

It is ten o’clock in the bustling Celadon City. The day is nice, the sun is shining and people are heading to work on this glorious Monday morning. Well, as glorious as a Monday can be anyways. Crowds of tourists push their way towards the department store and trainers are already lining up to challenge the gym. You have one hour until you have to meet with the Rocket recruiter at the game corner. Who will arrive on time, who will be late to the most important meeting of their life?

Damian just arrives in town at ten, Sigma having a chat with him through his PokéGear about nothing in particular. He looks around at the city. It was odd being in the big city again after such a long time spent walking between tiny town after tiny town. He sees the department store in the distance, but then feels his pocket and decides that he has enough stuff. He can get a TM for Sigma if this pays off. He checks a small egg that clung to the upper inside of his bag. Still good. There isn't anything to crush it in there, and his body heat is keeping the little thing fairly warm. It should hatch just fine. He cinches the bag back up and wanders around town for a bit before deciding that some practice for Sigma would do some good. He heads just to the East of Celadon and onto a small path between it and Saffron. "Sigma, time to train. I know these people are a bit rough, and I want you to be ready. Let's see if we can find anything to train against." He gets near unintelligible text-speak. "Cute, now get out of there." The PokéGear buzzes for a second as the Porygon leaves it. "You know you do have a ball, right?" Sigma just buzzes before floating around, looking for something to fight.

[Eshkigal]

Eddie looked around from a bench in front, still slightly disappointed. The first time he read the letter, he had thought it said Cerulean, and got excited thinking about what water types he could find in the gym, and what tips he could get afterwards...as is, he was waiting for 10:30 before going in. He still didn't feel comfortable with gambling, but that was probably from the time he was used to cover his parents' fees...
Smoke rises next to him, and he recalls the other reason to wait, as he looks down at the krabby with a cigar next to him, happily puffing on the cigar. Between them, a backpack mostly filled with a yellow egg sat.
"Hey, you finish that in the next half an hour, then no more until after the meeting, got it, Clamps?"
The krabby gurgles a response out, as Eddie readjusts the suit Slab Frank helped him get-Slab being because like his fighting types, he can shatter a solid slab of concrete with his fists. His fingers brushed over the hidden pocket holding a pair of brass knuckles as he readjusts-another gift from Slab. Best father figure he ever had.

Ennis was stationed across the street from the Game Corner. She was staking it out, wanting to see who would be heading in, trying to figure out who might also be joining and who already worked there. See what the talent was like, if they really were all that. She took out her pokedex and tried to clean it. She wiped a bit of blood off. The trainer she had stolen it from had put up a fight, but she had needed it. These Rockets were professionals. She wouldn't show up empty handed, she would show up prepared. The idiot even had an egg on him. That was also hers now. And the casino she was staring at? That would be hers too one day. She wanted it all, everything in the world.

The world was hers, or it would burn. That was the choice she would give others. Everything those idiotic dreamers had, she would take.

As you walk around the city searching for a fight you don't find much. When you're about to give up you see a trainer sitting on a bench, a peculiar Krabby smoking a cigar next to him.

As you stand watching the casino, thinking dark thoughts, you hear footsteps behind you. You spin around, expecting a fight..

And it's a little kid who probably can't be older than ten, holding a small coin pouch. Your coin pouch. Apparently pickpockets aren't uncommon in Celadon. Caught in the act, the kid runs for it.

You lose ^4,000. Kid is about ten yards away. He's probably weighing in at around eighty pounds.

Miles checks his pokegear. 10:01 I have so much time. He walks stiffly down a busy thouroughfare in a Suit and tie, which is a hair too small on him. He is clearly uncomfortable in the suit he shows plainly on his face. Miles bumps into a middle-aged gentleman who is clearly a tourist. Miles reflexivly reaches for the mans wallet in his back pocket but pauses. He quickly jams his hands in his pockets, mumbles "Sorry." and increases his pace before the man could reply. Now was not the time to do something foolish. There would be too many witnesses. Besides, Team Rocket is all about subtley, at least thats what he heard. He checks pokegear again. 10:04. Visibly concerned he heads toward the Game Corner. Dad always said its better to early than late, overdressed than under. He takes solice in blending into the crowd for a brief moment before realizing he is heading the wrong direction then turns around.

I guess I'll be really early then.

'MY MONEY!'

Ennis takes off after the little brat. She reaches into her pocket and throws a pokeball, using her telekinesis to float it past him so Que-Bee would appear the other side of him, trapping him between them.

'Listen brat! Your gonna give me back my money and anything else you stole today or I'll show you monsters aren't just in story books.'

This is said directly into his mind. Job interview or not, she wouldn't let a brat like this pull a fast one on her. She could always clean up the mess and head back before Team Rocket got wind of this.

The kid stops running as he sees the Pokemon cut off his escape and says a few words that a kid his age really shouldn't. His eyes go wide as you speak in his mind, but he keeps looking around. Seeing a garbage can he grabs the lid and tosses it at you, dashing towards you as he does so.

Ennis holds up her hand and the lid stops in mid-air. With a flick of her wrist, the lid flies back at him, heading straight for his face. Little brats like this didn't need all their teeth left in their mout, did they?

"A Krabby smoking? I can honestly say I have never seen that before in my life." Sigma buzzes in what appears to be an attempt to imitate laughter. "Sigma here has been itching for a fight and was wondering if your Krabby was interested."

Ennis holds up her hand and the lid stops in mid-air. With a flick of her wrist, the lid flies back at him, heading straight for his face. Little brats like this didn't need all their teeth left in their mout, did they?

Behind him, Que-Bee releases a sweet smelling scent, hoping to cover the kid in her pollen.

The garbage can slams into the kid's face, knocking him to the ground. When the pollen hits him he starts sniffing, probably enjoying the smell.

The kid is rolling on the ground clutching his nose now. Judging from the blood on the front of his shirt you hit him pretty hard.

Providing the kid stays down, Ennis goes over and loots him. She takes back her own money and anything of value he has on him. She makes sure to check his belt for pokeballs.

Que-Bee sits there, buzzing angrily at the child. While not as out-right nasty as Ennis, she was by no means a nice pokemon.

[Arcran]

'Try getting up and I'll really hurt you.'

Providing the kid stays down, Ennis goes over and loots him. She takes back her own money and anything of value he has on him. She makes sure to check his belt for pokeballs.

Que-Bee sits there, buzzing angrily at the child. While not as out-right nasty as Ennis, she was by no means a nice pokemon.

The kid is too busy moaning to stop you. In addition to your money you find an empty Pokeball and another ^500.

As you turn to leave, the kid starts crying. "Please," he moans. "Please, I need the money. I'm so hungry..."

[Eshkigal]

"I think it depends on if the Game Corner has an open mini arena and Clamps not minding cutting his break short. We have business inside in an hour, and would hate to risk being late after all. Up for a fight, Clamps?"
He stands from his seat as the krabby's eyes dart to Sigma and back to his cigar. After a couple minutes, there is a determined last puff before he carefully snips the smoldering top off and slides it gently into a case in the bag.
"Looks like we accept. My name's Eddie, and this is, as I've mentioned, Clamps."
With one hand, he scoops his bag up as he offers the other for a handshake.
"You are?"

Ennis takes the money, and the pokeball. Counting it, she takes out $100 and puts it on the ground. She then places her foot over it.

'Now, say sorry.'

Que-Bee is buzzing around the kid, making sure he wasn't holding out on them.

The kid looks at you completely bewildered.
"Please...."

Queen isn't able to find anything.

'NO! I SAID SAY SORRY!'

Ennis looks like she's about to start kicking him to death when Que-Bee shakes her head. The stupid kid wasn't holding out on them, so instead she kicks the $100 bill over to him then walks away. This kid wasn't worth getting her shoes dirty before her big meeting.

'Don't let me see your face again.'

Ennis heads to the Game Corner, mystery note in hand. She returns Que-Bee and tries to head inside, looking for a place to get a stiff drink before the meeting. At least inside a casino you could see the crooks coming. You just had to look in any direction. Her little stake-out was over.

As you walk towards the game corner you hear sobbing from an alleyway. You see a girl about your age closely returning a bee-like Pokemon as they enter the Game Corner from that alley.

[MesiDoomstalker]

Miles stops and looks quizically down the alleyway. I wonder... A small smirk forms on his face while his right hand reaches into his lapel pocket and his right to his belt. In one swift moment he retrieves a pair of matte black brass knuckles and puts one on his right hand, one handed. Simultaneously, he releases the pokemon in the pokeball, a Houndour. While he puts on the other brass knuckles on his left hand he whispers to the Houndour On the count of 3, use Howl. And try to look menacingly ok Rawf? "Dour!" Rawf yelps.

Miles kneels down and plants his finger in front of him like a runner waiting for the starting gun.

He arches his heels upwards, digging his dockers into the ground.

2...

Pushing gently agianst the ground, Miles buttox raises, and his face goes down almost touching the ground.

3 he whispers the last number. While Houndour lets out a long deep Howl, Miles pushes off the ground hard in a dead sprint down the alley, with Rawf at his heels.

He stops when he spots the person sobbing, or before he hits a wall if he doesn't see the sobbing person.

Rawf goes up 1 combat stage for Attack, bringing him to 13 Attack. Miles has a small speech prepared for when he finds the sobbing person but I want to wait till after he actually sees him before saying anything.

[Esprit15]

Damian grips the other young man's hand a bit too tightly. "I'm Damian and this would be Sigma. I have to be somewhere in an hour as well, so that's perfect. Five minutes to battle, half an hour at the Center at max and we can go our seperate ways." Sigma hums happily. Damian leads the way to the Game Corner. Near the Center. Perfect.

[Eshkigal]

"Where's your business?"
He exerts a similar pressure in turn, no stranger to this game. He also looks at how the man's dressed, and his stance.
"Maybe we're more similar than we think."
He scoops Clamps up next and heads in, and looks for someone in charge. He holds up his pokedex.
"Oh, mind if I scan Sigma? Haven't met one like him yet."

[Esprit15]

"Nowhere in particular. Nearby." Damian just looks over Eddie. He looked healthy, somewhat tall. Bad to take in a fight, good to make an ally of. Best keep quiet. "Nothing important." Sigma looks at Eddie oddly, humming a bit more threateningly. "Calm down. I think one of your commands had a glitch again. Rerun it." Sigma just buzzes and rolls his eyes.

[Eshkigal]

Clamps eyes the porygon making threatening noises, before shrugging. Plenty of things did that, only to get the clamps.
"Is nearby this building? Because this is where mine is."
Again, he eyes the man. Either he's wrong or Damian has trouble with subtlety.

[Esprit15]

Damian looks around. Hm, doesn't appear to be police. Should be safe. "Yeah, right around here." Sigma calms down a bit, though still remains on edge.

[Arcran]

As you race down the alley you almost run over a small child. The poor kid is probably only about 8. His nose is bent at a weird angle, and the amount of blood on his shirt would suggest it's broken. He is gripping a ^100 bill as if his life depends on it, which it very well may.

"Hope they're looking for several candidates. I think you'd be a nice partner to have, and a hell of a person to compete against."
He grins as he nods. Intuition-it helps save lives.

[MesiDoomstalker]

Miles skids to a halt half a metre away from the child, with Rawf jumping in front, growling at the child his posture low. He is taken aback for a second at the sight of the boy. What the heck happened to this kid?

Miles quickly snaps out of confusion and smirks meanencingly at the child. He stands up straight, as tall as he can, and cracks his knuckles. Give me the cash kid, and I won't beat your face in more. Rawf barks loudly at the child to drive the threat home.

[Arcran]

Miles crunches the already crumbled bill in his right hand and chuckles softly. Rawf tries to run after the boy. Theres no need Rawf. If that kid had anymore cash, we'd have it. C'mon, lets head inside.

That shouldn't have been that easy. The kid was pretty beaten up already, but still. Miles heads toward the door the Bee-Girl went into but stops outside. It was good to have Rawf by his side, he didn't like keeping him in his pokeball. He bends over and gives Rawf a loving scratch behind the ear. You ready for this Rawf? This is the first step of the rest of our lives. I can tell. Rawf yelps happily, wagging his tail in excitment. Miles takes in a deep breath and reaches for the door handle. He suddenly remembered how uncomfortable he feels in the moneky suit and immidiatly stiffens. With difficutly, he swallows his anxiety he turns the knob and walks inside with Rawf on his heels.
