Okay the image of the pure white fur; blue face and paws with the halo was just a perfect and dumbfounding configuration.

Was that just a one off? Or was it in reference to some other work?

It's using the same color scheme and halo as the celestial lion here, but I think it was just a joke. (One I was quite fond of, too).

Pretty sure it's a joke about Elan not realizing, without Vaarsuvius there to whisper in his ear, that "tree sloth" is not a good choice of celestial animal to "summon."

Alternatively, he's simply applying the same "lesson" Vaarsuvius gave him the last time she schooled Elan in illusion. What celestial animal would give its opponent more time to retreat in the face of the "threat" it poses than a tree sloth?

I would not want to get into a fight with a sloth. They have huge, scary claws.

That said, I find it hard to imagine a situation where an animal that lives in the tops of trees thousands of miles away and sleeps 20 hours a day would be interested in picking a fight with me.

Although now I'm imagining one of them taking an overnight flight up here with the undying flame of vengeance burning in his sleepy eyes…
