Re: Metal Thread VII: The Mosh Pit Don't Start 'Til We Walk In
So I got "Grief" by Germ yesterday for Christmas.
Everyone needs this album on their CD shelf. I **** you not. Don't get me wrong, it sounds more or less exactly like what you'd expect from another Tim Yatras Black Metal project and doesn't differ too much from the likes of Austere and Woods of Desolation (Although it's a great deal better then WoD imo), but because of that, it remains largely unique amongst other Depressive Black Metal, and Black Metal as a whole. That "epicness" that always manages to (unconsciously) make me hold my breath for large chunks of his songs are as prominent here as they were in Austere's "To Lay Like Old Ashes" alongside dem shrieks and screams, which is, you know, awesome.
What does set this album apart from some of his other projects is a vague Deathrock quality in many of the songs on the album, usually expressed either in the drumming, or the guitars. The Deathrock/Post-Punk vibe is especially prominent in "Butterfly", which has Audrey Sylvain as a guest vocalist. Being a Deathrock fan, I can't complain.
So yeah, awesome album.Last edited by Nameless; 2013-12-26 at 05:56 AM.

Re: Metal Thread VII: The Mosh Pit Don't Start 'Til We Walk In
Indeed, it was.
(edit: just for the record, they also played Keep It in the Family, I'm the law, Madhouse, Caught in a Mosh, N.F.L., Indians, Got the time, and at least a couple of other songs I don't remember.)
Indeed, Butterfly's rhythm is too catchy, to be really depressing...Last edited by Killer Angel; 2013-12-26 at 06:25 AM.
Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself. I am large, I contain multitudes. (W.Whitman)
