Why an arcane caster? And don't worry, Mrs. Darksbane has her own alcohol. She prefers wine over ale.

Also, added Dardiana to my signature. Wow. I'm at the limit of 500 characters (with the coding too) and am trying my best to get more space. I don't think I'll be able to add any other...

Korgoth claims Navy in the name of Thor! As for the arcane caster taking craft:booze or something to that effect, well they have higher intelligence for the most part and would be better at making it.... though my character could start brewing and just have my mule pull a brewery on wheels wherever we go... Korgoth does no drink ale, he drinks mead

Double post, but to add Mar's first post.

A land where nature and geography has tended to inhibit governmental and cultural progress. Trees grow tall, rivers run free, winters are cold and life is a little dull. Well, when it's not exciting and dangerous.

To the south, the forests get darker, the hills get hillier, and the bears are hungry. If you go far enough south, there's lots of ice. To the west is a vast and hungry ocean. To the east is a shockingly boring steppe populated by shockingly boring and unpleasant people. To the north is a settled and somewhat chaotic...civilization you call The Empire. It's not very Imperial. It's basically a Canada-sized mess of late-medieval early-renaissance Duchies, Baronies, Counties and City-States. You know, standard D&D fare. Your people (who we will call Your People) trade pelts, gems, metals, amber and witty local banter with the local Empire towns in exchange for decent manufactured goods and fancy toys. It is extremely common for the more adventurous of Your People to travel north to try to make their fortune here. Hint hint. Sometimes they even come back.

According to those that have, to the north and east of The Empire, beyond a gigantic mountain range, is another civilization called The Republic. It's not well-liked. Chattel slavery is the basis of the economy and nobody wears enough clothing.

North of The Empire and west of The Republic is a tangled mess of minor kingdoms who are always at war. Sometimes with each other. They are sometimes called the Free States, although they are generally quite expensive. North of them, beyond a fair amount of sea, is a desert continent loaded with the ruins of a thousand fallen civilizations. It is called The Union. Its remaining dusty cities keep their economies afloat fleecing visiting adventurers who come to "explore".

On a set of large islands out in the western ocean is another civilization. One with a reputation for secrecy, opportunism, and sorcery (and wizardry, and clerickry, and warlockery, and stuff). It is called The Administrate. If The Republic is not well-liked, the Administrate is feared. They noun your verbs.

Your People worship the Greyhawk and Asgardian pantheons, The Empire the Greyhawk pantheon, The Republic the Olympian Pantheon and The Union the Pharoahic. The Administrate has its own set of gods of whom little is known other than that it seems to consist largely of young women with martial weapons and reassuring titles like The Bringer of Silence.

But, all that is far in your futures, as you band together just outside your village, and debate where to go, what to do, and even who you are.
So we no longer need to go back to the other thread for it. With the last piece, I take it we decided to group together and leave the town.

You don't have to come from the SAME village. You're in Whitewater Rip, it's close to the coast (though not actually coastal) and also on one of the better trade routes to the Empire. It's a logical place for people on the move...elsewhere to end up.

It's in the north-western corner of Your People's territory. We'll get some more expospeak before long. I'm working on a map, but I'm reduced to using a Chinese version of MS paint, so it's a bit demoralising.

Alright. I'll wait for the expospeak.

If it is really bad (or demoralising enough), you could use google documents instead. Might not be much better, but I don't know. Here's an example of a map I made, and am making, for a solo campaign with a friend.

I haven't read the IC thread yet, but I always find it best to have a Link to the other thread in each(look to OOC in IC and link to IC in OOC) Also having a list in the OOC thread of all the character sheets so we can refer to them easily, I migth edit this after reading the Ic thread

Incidentally, and totally unrelated to whether or not I will be become a rage mage, are there multiclassing penalties? And now that the game has begun, are we still restricted as to sources?

I was peeking at everyone's sheets (well, better late than never) and see a few things worth clarifying, namely:

    1. Delphi Fallios seems to have much less than 300gp worth of equipment+gold
    2. Marn Ortul is listed as a Conjurer (spec. wiz., right?) but seems to have only 2 first-level slots (he should get one extra spec slot). Also, not sure if his prohibited schools and spellbook's contents are listed anywhere.
    3. Really, Marn Ortul could buy quite a lot of 1-st level spells for his 244gp. Not sure why he does not spend at least part of that.
    4. Korgoth probably should list remaining money (there should be some).

as per the variants I took I lose that bonus spell slot for I think its the variant that lets me spontaneous cast any summon spells, as I dont have the book anymore I can't look to be sure, but its one of the 3 variants in UA. As for not spending my money, I'm actually new to playing a wizard, usually I play other casters that dont use spell books, and I don't need any other spells rigth this minute, I can always buy them later when the need arises

In that case you are the spontaneous summoner:

A conjurer using this variant does not gain additional spells per day for being a specialist wizard.

Note: Since conjurers using this variant obviously summon monsters frequently, the game master should require the conjurer's player to prepare simple record sheets ahead of time for each monster that the character commonly summons. It is also important to emphasize speedy play on the part of the conjurer and his summoned monsters.
