Simple games no dice

So my friend and i are in school and bored out of our mind....we have no supplies but lots of pencils and paper and standard school supllies. We need help for games that are intresting have at least some sort of conflict and dont require massive amounts of math or supplies. Any ideas

Are you going to be playing on the sly during class, or playing during lunch, study hall, rec, whatever? Just curious.

Maybe you could play Diplomacy? You'd need to have a board set up somewhere, but it could be at one of your houses, and you could negotiate all day long with each other, write down your moves at the end of the school day, and then resolve them after school. If you can't remember where everyone's pieces are, you can take photos of the board with you phone / tablet and refer to them throughout the day.

I used to play poker during study hall. We'd write all out bets down in symbols on paper and tell the teacher we were just playing for fun. I wouldn't advise that nowadays... I grew up in a less punitive era.

Also, if you have access to an Excel spreadsheet you can simulate dice rolls with the Randbetween function if you had to... Maybe you could play a narrative heavy RPG like the new Marvel Heroic RPG, and use a spreadsheet to keep track of the Doom Pool and to build player dice pools?

There is always the old standby of creating your own MadLibs. Trivia games are good too, especially if you find a card based one, where you can just quiz each other reading off the cards.

You can also play the Name Game, where you name a famous person and the next person has to name another famous person whose first name starts win the first letter of the last name of the famous person you named, continuing until someone gets stumped or repeats a name. (You can narrow it to fictional characters within a genre or whatever to make it more challenging).

If you are movie buffs you can name an actor or director and take turns naming their films until someone gets stumped. Or naming all the members of the Avengers, or whatever...

Warriors Adventure Game might be somewhat what you are looking for. No dice, few stats/skills, simple resolution. Just look at the character sheet; there isn't much to keep track of.

You're kind of limited to playing cats, though, unless you want to tweak the system (which shouldn't be difficult). You'd need to go to Games & Extras, then Games, then the Adventure game to find the materials... or just look at the links below.

Old school pencils can be easily converted into d6s by marking their sides appropriately. That would allow you to play something like GURPS or Don't Rest Your Head while appearing totally innocuous. DRYH is also super narrative and has like five rules total, so that would be a good system for what you're trying to do.

I think Don't Rest Your Head would involve too many dice to appear innocent if you were playing it with d6 pencils. You're rolling a minimum of 3 for every roll, plus what the DM rolls, and can easily hit 10 per roll. Granted, you may not need to roll them super often, but when you're rolling that many dice pencils, somebody's going to start suspecting something.

It has all of two attributes, one resolution mechanic, and only requires that you be able to draw stick figures and roll a d4, which the pencils could be used for.

Amber was an early diceless system. It's entirely fluffed for the world of Amber from Roger Zelazny's books, but would re-fluff very easily (especially considering the books).
There are a few rules (notably a lot of the secrecy rules) I would do differently, but the basic rules look pretty sound (though I have never used my copy).

I know my teachers would get fed up after the first or second roll called for, personally. It depends on who Stabber's teachers are, and what they're like, then.

Do you have smartphones? It's an option for passing notes and storing data. I regularly store RPG characters on Google Docs and plan out level ups and spell selections when I'm bored.

Although if you're using Google Docs to share info rapidly, like chatting, it's not very good because it requires manual updates. IRC would be better for that. I haven't looked, but there might also be an app that allows for multi-user dice rolling too.

Way back in 2004 I played D&D 3.5 using AIM chat rooms, which have a built-in dice rolling feature. Just type //roll--XXdice--XXsides or something similar (double check before you use it) and I'm sure there's an AIM chat room program out there for your phone.
