Forum Traffic

Does anyone know why the forums here get a massive spike in traffic about an hour or so before the daily maintainence?

It just seems odd to me, since I assume a majority of the forum is comprised of people in the americas and the daily maintainence takes place in the wee hours of the morning.

1 AM is the wee hours of the morning? Because that is when it happens around my parts. America is a rather large place.

For me it's about 3 or 4 AM. I can't remember which, as I haven't been on recently.

The problem here is that the you, Kelb, the OP, assume the Americans on the forum, aren't night owls. A fair portion of us are. It's not exactly uncommon amongst us ... Whatever sort of people we are.

Yeah, for a lot of us, 1am in the morning is nothing. Then there are all the people that are getting on midday because of where they live.

I've been on the forums at 1am most days in the summer (live in USA, so I usually bump into the maintenance time). Having nothing to wake up for makes staying up easier. Definitely not going to be up that late when fall semester starts, though.

For me the backup occurs at either 4pm or 5pm, depending on daylight savings...

and I do tend to be active right before then, because I know it's going to go down for half an hour and I want to try and get everything I want to do done before then. And yes, I know I could just wait half an hour, but if I did that I'd forget everything I wanted to do...

Yea, during summer I'm usually up when it happens here. (bout 4 AM, I think) It usually tells me it's time for bed. Come fall and the start of school I'll be getting off at like 11 though.

Ah, but you forget that most of us Americans automatically assume everyone else in the world that speaks English is also American.
