Gnomish makes lovely art. I've yet to decide whether I think the many uncurved lines add to the effect or not, though. I mean, it's distinctive, and that tends to be a good thing...



Don't you generally hold the neck of a violin from below so that it rests in your palm, rather than from above? I mean, pose as if you held a violin the way she does. I tried, and it's not comfortable...

I can't get this freakin violin right can I?!?! Okay. I have never actually seen someone playing Violin IRL. I was in band, not orchestra. I'll fix that soon as I get home.

The...right side, I believe, of her chest looks a little awkward; I'm thinking it's because of the line thickness. Where it's thinner, it looks like it's out of place, almost. Also the fox's back leg looks off to me, in that it doesn't seem to actually connect to its body. Otherwise, they're lookin' good.

Now as the for the Fox, it's starting to drive me a little mad. I keep staring at it and I'm just not seeing the leg problem everyone is mentioning. I have tried making adjustments to the image in hopes that it would make the base problem more clear but so far, I've gathered nothing. Help?

Will do. I use those shoes quite a bit, so I want them to look good.

Pretty much this Makes me want to get an avatar of the kitsune I use on the FFRP. I should get on that later.

But more importantly, I really like the face paint/tattoos (not sure which they are) and really just the colors in general. It's also further proof that staves are cool.

Thank you! I like to think I've gotten good at making colors that don't clash. Apparently green is a harder medium to work with, or so I've heard?? But I appreciate it!

As for the violin I imagine the swirly part as an OotS simplification of the actual tune-y bits and other tiny bits. Just a random way I chose to attempt to interpret it, I suppose?

I didn't see any thing wrong with the leg on your fox.

Well, the way its hip (the upper-leftmost part of its hind leg) is detached from the body makes it look like it's really, really scrawny to the point of being starved to death...

I don't know, I mostly relfected on these pieces, although I suppose I didn't make that especially clear.

Her fingers should preferably lie on the strings, like on a guitar, and I think the violin is a bit too large in overall, because she needs to stretch her arm a lot more than what should normally be required to reach her grip. Try to shrink the violin by 25% and aim for at most a 90° angle of her elbow, preferably sharper...

Pretty bird is pretty, but the claws may need a bit more work (they're pretty obviously constructed from the same element copied and pasted six times over, and the leftmost claw (rightmost for us) has its top end sticking out beneath a feather on the wing).

And, well, there's quite a notable difference in quality between the bird and him, but I don't think I mind it, as the bird takes all my attention anyway. The shadings on his cloak, however, are quite neat, but possibly a bit too subtle, as I can't help but subconsciously categorise them as JPEG artefacts...

That line thickness, it's killing me.

Ah-k, first things first: Rounded ends, pleeeeease.
Keep your line thickness consistent, don't change it every shape you make, itm akes the work look damn sloppy. This goes for line color as well, don't make colored outlines if you already use black outlines, or vice versa.

It's a nice design, but really, those small flaws make me dislike it. If the lines were consistent, these would have been great.

Edit: Also, arms come from almost (not exactly) the place where the head meets the body.

The eyes also need to stand out with an outline, to make them look even more colorful.

Also, remember that women and men have different facial proportions. Women (in OotS) tend to have their faces closer to the center, while the males tend to have them a bit more spread over the front of the head.
