Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase V
Only problems I can see are the teeth and the wonky boobs.
SpoilerThis is the thief who likes to hoard,
That loves the bard with the puppet Lord
That admires the fighter with the green-hilted sword,
That employs the Wizard, whose bird is ignored,
That has the gender unexplored
That intrigues the Halfling, usually bored,
That slew a mountain of the goblin horde,
That follows the cleric,
That serves the lich,
That seeks the gate,
That guards the snarl,
That lives in the prison the gods built.
guess what I was gone but now I'm back

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase V
@ Gnomish Wanderer:
I would disagree that the head size is a significant error. Perhaps a bit smaller, but it doesn't look bad at all.
The main thing I want to bring up is her right breast. It looks sort of flattened. I would take that line indicating the bottom curve of the breast and slide it to out left. One way to look at it is, do the bottom curve and visible cleavage together look like they're the shape of a breast? Right now they don't.
My only other nitpick is the hair looks too ridged. Otherwise, great avi. I like the smile and what you did with the teeth, and the clothing looks great.
EDIT: Oh, and I also recommend making the corners of each object curved. This is done by pressing a button in the same area as the button to put round caps on the ends of lines.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase V
Sorry about the size, I just grab it from where I upload on deviant art. Maybe I should make use of my cluttered Photobucket account.
... No... It's not... I even changed the original hair color to try and stop confusion. I was bored, and tried to design a child for Haley and Elan. I randomly decided she's be a bard like her dad, and be a Daddy's girl and try to copy him... I know it's silly. I was bored.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase V
You know, I keep telling myself I'm going to post here more often. *whaps self* I should do that.
@Sgt. Pepper: Those are pretty cool. I couldn't offer much more than small nitpicks here and there.
@asdflove: Hey there, asdflove, looks like you've got a good start on making oots style avis. I have two recommendations at this point. One would be to make the eyes smaller and for the difference in size to not be quite so large. And two is to have more consistant line width. Some variance is good, but it's not a good idea to have light weight that's so different. And as a rule of thumb, lines on the heavier side tend to look better in oots style.
And I have some new stuff of my own to show off. I actually haven't been avataring a whole lot lately, but I've got a few things.
A Pirate and Her Booty:
Spoiler
First of all, I made a short comic strip of mine and a friend's characters for pirate week. I reminded myself that these things take so much more effort than single avatars. It was fun, though, and I'm very happy with the result.
And yes, the title is a terrible joke.
Pirate Brinika:
And here's a request for pirate week. She's a little goblin girl all dressed up as a pirate.
Pirates Misha and Mimi:
These were fun to make. Two part avi with the nereid Misha and the pixie Mimi.
Julie:
This is actually a redo of an earlier avi. I quickly learned that breasts are hard to draw if you want to put any effort into them.
Aconia and Scora:
A couple of interesting, nonstandard dryad sisters.
Hana:
And last but not least, an adorable little dryad girl.
And that's all I have to show up. Comments and critiques are always appreciated.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase V
I like that last one, though some of the eyes are a little funky.
Anyhow, I just made an avatar, since my pirate week ones didn't turn out. I like it quite a bit. Tell me what you think.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase V
Some of the eyes are funky? I'm not sure I know exactly what you mean. Mind elaborating?
As for your avi. It's not bad, but could use a bit of polishing. The leg positioning is a bit awkward looking, and the arm length could use adjusting. His left arm looks like it's attached at the wrong place. I would recommend putting a fairly thin outline on the staff. Oh, and since the hair appears to be being blow back by wind, the cape hanging straight down looks odd.
Heh, thanks. I quite enjoyed drawing her. She's such a cute character overall.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase V
You posted one minute before me. I had been talking to Sergeant Pepper. You're eyes are fine. Improvements have been made. Hes awkward pose and hair is due to his having just jumped to his current position. And here is the new version:

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase V
This is just me eyeballing it so I'm not even sure if this would look better, but if you're going for a leaping effect, how about having his right leg (the one on our left) pointing further back and into the air as if he's just landing on his left foot?
Also, it's been forever since I did any serious avataring, so I gave it a try for old time's sake tonight. I know my shading's really haphazard and sloppy, but all things considered I think I managed to come out pretty well against my archenemy, anime hair:
Nyarlathotep from Nyarko-san.

What about less color and coherence?

Crossposting from my usual haunt, because I think this partly counts as OotS-style art and OotS fanart; feel free to admonish me if otherwise!Last edited by flyingchicken; 2012-09-23 at 10:18 AM.

Wow. I love your takes on Elan and Haley, they look pretty sweet.
Also, I recently took a request for Ziegander, the King of Fighter Fixes, that I am really proud of. Tell me what you think!

Kymme, you know, you don't have to put backgrounds. You can just not have anything in the background and it'll work perfectly. Mine is like that.
@V:Good point. Okay.

So I made two members of the Redfir clan for Draconi Redfir:
and
I like the first one better, but they're definitely better than many avatars I've made in the past.
