    Default The Insightful Mind [BASE CLASS 3.5, PEACH + HELP!]

    Hiya everyone I've been working on the following class which is not finished yet and i was wondering if i could get you all to give me your thoughts thus far.. its far from finished (especially the later levels) but i could really use some ideas and help.

    Think kinda master tactician meets the modern interpretation of Sherlock Holmes...

    The Insightful Mind



    ”Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world”

    The Insightful Mind is a master tactician, scholar and tireless observer of the world. They perceive that which is unseen to others and relish the opportunity to expand their understanding.

    GAME RULE INFORMATION
    Insightful Mind’s have the following game statistics.

    Abilities: Intelligence is of paramount importance to an Insightful Mind as it powers most their key abilities. Dexterity is also important as is both improves their armour class and can increase their chance of striking a foe with certain weapons. Constitution is always important to an Insightful Mind as it may help bolster their otherwise limited number of hit points.

    Alignment: Most Insightful Minds hold a lawful outlook on life, but must accept and understand the inevitable existence of chaos within both their plans and the world. Few Insightful Minds are chaotic, but many possess eccentric natures and extreme world views which seem alien in their complexity to anyone but themselves. In truth many Insightful Mind swings wildly between these two polar opposites, conducting themselves in a chaotic manner whilst holding firm to the fundamental laws of reality.

    Starting Age: As cleric.

    Starting Gold: As cleric.

    Class Features
    All of the following are class features of the Insightful Mind.

    Weapon and Armour Proficiencies: An Insightful Mind is proficient with all simple and martial weapons as well as all light and medium armours. An Insightful Mind is also proficient with all shields (except the tower shield).


    Insight (Ex):

    An Insightful Mind is ever watchful, constantly drawing inspiration and understanding from both their surroundings and those that they encounter. This constant focus provides them with an insight into events which borders on the supernatural, enabling them to manipulate events to their advantage and alter the fate of others.

    This insight is represented by a pool of tokens, hence forth called “Insight tokens”, which the Insightful Mind may channel into a number of abilities.

    Gaining Insight tokens

    At the start of an encounter the Insightful mind receives a number of insight tokens equal to their intelligence modifier (to a minimum of 1). This total further later increase by 1 for every 5 levels of insightful mind the character possesses. This total also acts as the maximum allowance of insight tokens the insightful mind may hold at any one time.

    Additionally as soon as an Insightful mind successfully strikes a foe with a melee of ranged attack they generates 1 insight token. They may only gain 1 such token each round.

    An insightful mind may also choose to spend a standard action to return their quota of insight tokens to their maximum allowance.


    Stratagems (Ex):

    As an Insightful Mind gains experience within the field they learn a number of tactical manoeuvres and motivational techniques which can help them get the best out of their allies.

    As soon as an Insightful mind successfully strikes a foe with a melee of ranged attack they may activate one of the following stratagem abilities from list below. Later at 5th level and every 5 levels thereafter they may improve their stratagem by selecting additional abilities which combine together, forming a collective of affects.

    An insightful mind may also opt to activate their stratagem by performing a standard action. However, regardless of the activation method they choose the Insightful Mind may only initiate this ability once each round. The effects of multiple stratagems, produced by different Insightful Minds, do not stack but may overlap, providing bonuses to those effects which differ between their stratagem collectives.

    The Insightful Minds may choose to augment all the effects within their stratagem collective by spending 1 or more insight tokens. The total amount of insight tokens which an Insightful Mind may spend to augment their stratagem may not exceed a total of 1 (+ 1 token for every 4 levels of Insightful Mind they possess).

    The targets of all these ability must be able to discern the insightful minds verbal or gestured instructions for this ability to have effect.

    Attack: An Insightful Mind understands the ways of battle and has mastered the arts of war. She will regularly bring these gifts to bear upon her foes, guiding her allies to smash them with a series of precise attacks.

    Both the Insightful Mind and all her allies within 30 feet gain a +1 insight bonus to their attack rolls until the start of the Insightful Minds next turn. If the Insightful Mind chooses to augment their stratagem collective the bonus provided by this ability increases by 1 for each insight token spent.

    Bolster: Even an evil Insightful Mind refuses to waste her resources unnecessarily and will act to prolong their lives and usefulness for as long as possible.

    Both the Insightful Mind and all her allies within 30 feet gain a +1 insight bonus to all saving throws until the start of the Insightful Minds next turn. If the Insightful Mind chooses to augment their stratagem collective the bonus provided by this ability increases by 1 for each insight token spent.

    Damage: Insightful Minds understands that at times an overwhelming display of force is necessary to overpower her foes.

    Both the Insightful Mind and all her allies within 30 feet gain a +2 insight bonus to their damage rolls until the start of the Insightful Minds next turn. If the Insightful Mind chooses to augment their stratagem collective the bonus provided by this ability increases by 1 for each insight token spent.

    Defence: Even an evil Insightful Mind hates to squander her resources and knows all too well he benefits of a sound defensive strategy.

    Both the Insightful Mind and all her allies within 30 feet gain a +1 insight bonus to their armour class until the start of the Insightful Minds next turn. If the Insightful Mind chooses to augment their stratagem collective the bonus provided by this ability increases by 1 for each insight token spent.

    Heal: An Insightful Mind often knows her allies better than they know themselves and is able to draw upon every ounce of their strength, inspiring them to fight on, beyond their own perception of their true physical limitations.

    Both the Insightful Mind and all her allies within 30 feet heal a 3 hit points of damage. If the Insightful Mind chooses to augment their stratagem collective their allies heal an additional 3 hit points of damage for each insight token spent.

    Manoeuvre: An Insightful Mind knows the importance of controlling the battlefield, of dominating that space and using every inch to their advantage.

    Both the Insightful Mind and all her allies within 30 feet may move 5 feet without drawing any attacks of opportunity. If the Insightful Mind chooses to augment their stratagem collective they may select a single ally within 30 feet for each insight token spent, empowering them to move an additional 5 feet (again without drawing any attacks of opportunity).



    Tactical Movement (Ex):

    An Insightful Mind has is a master of battlefield tactics and is able to empower her allies to outmanoeuvre and overwhelm her foes.

    Beginning at 1st level an Insightful Mind who strikes at least one foe with a melee or ranged attack may select an ally within 30 feet and grant them a free swift or move action. This action must be performed immediately by the chosen ally and is in addition to their normal number of actions permitted each round.

    The target of this ability must be able to discern the Insightful Minds verbal or gestured instructions for this ability to have effect.

    The Insightful Mind may also opt to activate this ability as a move action. However, regardless of their method of activation the Insightful mind may only choose to initiate this ability once each round.


    Warn (Ex):

    An insightful mind is ever observant, constantly encouraging, assisting and advising her allies to avoid all distraction and strive for the best results.

    At 1st level an Insightful Mind gains the ability to spend insight tokens at any time within an encounter in order to allow a willing ally within 30 feet to re-roll an ability check, attack roll, damage roll, saving throw or skill check. The outcome of this re-roll must be accepted, even if the result proves to be worse than the original roll. Only 1 such re-roll may be performed upon each roll.

    Each use of this ability costs 1 Insight token and is deemed a free action. The target of this ability must be able to discern the insightful minds verbal or gestured instructions for this ability to have effect.


    Inspire (Ex):

    An Insightful Mind has is a master of psychology and is ably to swiftly discern those factors which motivate their companions, inspiring them to greater deeds.

    Beginning at 2nd level an Insightful Mind who strikes at least one foe with a melee or ranged attack may, once per encounter, select an ally within 30 feet and grant them a free standard action. This action must be performed immediately by the chosen ally and is in addition to their normal number of actions permitted each round.

    The target of this ability must be able to discern the insightful minds verbal or gestured instructions for this ability to have effect.

    This ability may be used in conjunction with Tactical Movement (see above) upon the same ally, providing them with both a free move and a free standard action. However, these actions may not be combined to provide the creature with opportunity to perform a full round action.


    Scholarly (Ex):

    The insightful mind is an intellectual of the highest calibre with a broad and substantial knowledge spanning across all manner of disaplins.

    Upon attaining their 2nd level the Insightful Mind receives a bonus to all knowledge checks equal to half her Insightful Mind class level.


    Sharp Mind (Ex):

    An insightful mind studies her foes, drawing upon her insight to overcome them in battle.

    Starting at 2nd level an Insightful Mind may opt to spend 1 insight token before making a melee or ranged attack in order to apply their intelligence modifier to all their subsequent attack rolls this round.

    Later at 6th level the Insightful mind gains the Razor Mind class feature which no longer requires them to spend insight tokens to activate this ability. Instead the ability is deemed constantly active if they possess at least 1 insight token.


    Vigilance (Ex):

    Few are more aware of their surroundings than an insightful mind. Her intuitive sense of the environment allows her to quickly master the field and press their advantage home.

    Upon reaching 2nd level the Insightful Mind and all allies within 30 feet of their location may, at the start of each encounter, opt to re-roll their initiative. If a character chooses to re-roll their initiative they must use the result, even if it proves to be worse than the first.


    Insightful Initiative (Ex):

    An Insightful Mind’s minds incredible analytical speed allows her to instinctively take advantage of as situation and form her strategies before others have time to take the initiative.

    At 3rd level an Insightful Mind may apply their intelligence modifier as a competence bonus to their initiative.


    Objective (Ex):

    Upon reaching 3rd level the Insightful Mind may, as a swift action, place one of three different tokens (hence forth known as objective tokens) into play. Each of these tokens works slightly differently, as described below.

    In later rounds the Insightful Mind may, as a swift action and for the cost of 1 insight token bring a different objective token into play. However, only 1 objective token of each type, which belongs to the Insightful Mind, may exist at any one time.

    The Ally Objective Token: An Insightful Mind learns many methods of motivating, advising and otherwise facilitating her allies in battle, allowing them to accomplish feats beyond their normal capability.

    This token may be placed upon an ally within 30 feet of the Insightful Mind. All attacks made by the ally targeted by this token inflict an additional 1d6 points of damage. This bonus damage increases by 1d6 every 4 levels hereafter (2d6 at 7th level, 3d6 at 11th level, 4d6 at 15th level and finally 5d6 at 19th level). This bonus damage does not stack with bonuses provided by other objective tokens.

    In later rounds the Insightful Mind may, as a swift action, expend 1 insight token to move this token to a different ally within 30 feet of their current location.

    The Foe Objective Token: An Insightful Mind has an instinctive understanding of her foes and knows best how to exploit their weaknesses in battle.

    This token may be placed upon a foe within 30 feet of the Insightful Mind. Any attacks against the target of this token by either the Insightful Mind or her allies inflict an additional 1d6 points of damage. This bonus damage increases by 1d6 every 4 levels hereafter (2d6 at 7th level, 3d6 at 11th level, 4d6 at 15th level and finally 5d6 at 19th level). This bonus damage does not stack with bonuses provided by other objective tokens. If the foe is defeated this objective token is removed from play (return it to the Insightful Mind).

    In later rounds the Insightful Mind may, as a swift action, expend 1 insight token to move this token to a different foe within 30 feet of their current location.

    The Location Objective Token: An Insightful Mind’s understanding of the battlefield allows her to uses the environment itself to her tactical advantage.

    This token may be placed upon a 5-foot square within 30 feet of the Insightful Mind. All attacks made against any foe within 5 feet of this location inflict an additional 1d6 points of damage. This bonus damage increases by 1d6 every 4 levels hereafter (2d6 at 7th level, 3d6 at 11th level, 4d6 at 15th level and finally 5d6 at 19th level). This bonus damage does not stack with bonuses provided by other objective tokens.

    In later rounds the Insightful Mind may, as a swift action, expend 1 insight token to move this token to a different 5-foot square within 30 feet of their current location.



    Insightful Reflexes (Ex):

    An Insightful Mind’s mind can interpret an evolving threat almost instantaneously, enabling her reaction times to become truly exceptional.

    At 4th level an Insightful Mind may apply their intelligence modifier as a competence bonus to their initiative.


    Uncanny Dodge (Ex)

    Starting at 4th level, an Insightful Mind can react to danger before her senses would normally allow her to do so. She retains her Dexterity bonus to AC (if any) even if she is caught flat-footed or struck by an invisible attacker. However, she still loses her Dexterity bonus to AC if immobilized.

    If an Insightful Mind already has uncanny dodge from a different class she automatically gains improved uncanny dodge instead.


    Decisive Action (Ex):

    The Insightful Mind’s keen reflexes and lightning analytical speed allow her to act both first and decisively.

    At the start of any encounter, immediately after the initiative order has been defined, the Insightful Mind may perform a single swift or move action. This action is a bonus action which occurs outside the regular initiative order (regardless of her position within it).

    If the Insightful Mind is the victim of a surprise round this bonus action takes place after all active parties within that phase have taken their action.

    If the Insightful Mind is a participant within a surprise round this bonus action take place at the start of the surprise round instead.


    Art of War (Ex):

    The Insightful Mind is a master tactician and strategist with a peerless understanding of the crafts and ways of battle.

    At 6th level the Insightful Mind gains knowledge of a three of specialised tactical arts which they can implement, as a free action, for the cost of 1 insight token.

    When an Insightful Mind gains knowledge of an art they must form it within their mind. To do this they must select both a condition by which the art may be activated and an effect that will trigger as a result of this activation. Once an Insightful Mind has formed an art it remains within their knowledge, using up an Art Know slot permanently.

    At later levels an Insightful Mind gains knowledge of additional arts, shown in the Insightful Mind’s class table. When forming an art the Insightful Mind may not use a condition or effect to form an art if they already used within a previous art. For example an Insightful Mind who has already formed “Mitigating Defence” as one of their arts may not select either the Mitigating condition or Defence effect when forming future arts.

    At the start of each encounter an Insightful mind must select a number of different arts known to them which they may use during the course of the encounter. Each art may be activated only once for the duration of the encounter.

    At later levels an Insightful Mind may select an increasing number of arts which they may bring with them into an encounter.

    Abating: The Insightful Mind fails to strike a target with a melee or ranged attack.

    Breaching: An ally within 30 feet of the Insightful Mind defeats a foe.

    Exploiting: A foe draws an attack of opportunity from the Insightful Mind.

    Forestalling: The Insightful Mind is struck by a melee or ranged attack.

    Incisive: An ally within 30 feet of the Insightful Mind draws an attack of opportunity from a foe.

    Leading: The Insightful Mind defeats a foe.

    Mitigating: An ally within 30 feet of the Insightful Mind fails to strike a target with a melee or ranged attack.

    Overpowering: An ally within 30 feet of the Insightful Mind strikes a target with a melee or ranged attack.

    Penetrating: The Insightful Mind strikes a target with a melee or ranged attack.

    Recovering: An ally within 30 feet of the Insightful Mind heals 1 or more hit points.

    Shielding: An ally within 30 feet of the Insightful Mind is struck by a melee or ranged attack.

    Thwarting: The Insightful Mind is required to make a saving throw.

    Unrelenting: A foe within 30 feet of the Insightful Mind heals 1 or more hit points.

    Warding: An ally within 30 feet of the Insightful Mind is required to make a saving throw.

    Activation: The Insightful Mind may select a single ally within 30 feet who may immediately activate a magic item with an activation time of no more than a single standard action.

    Assault: The Insightful Mind may immediately perform a single ranged or melee attack. This attack action is a bonus action and does not affect the individual’s normal quota of available actions.

    Defence: The Insightful Mind may select a single ally within 30 feet whom receives an insight bonus, equal to the Insightful Minds intelligence modifier, to their armour class. This bonus persists until a ranged or melee attack targets the ally or until the start of target allies coming turn, whichever is first.

    Defiance: The Insightful Mind select a single ally within 30 feet who may choose to become immune to fear effects and negative moral penalties until the end of the encounter.

    Insight: The Insightful Mind gains 1 insight token.

    Inspirational Strike: The Insightful Mind may select a single ally within 30 feet. The target ally may immediately perform a single ranged or melee attack. This attack action is a bonus action and does not affect the individual’s normal quota of available actions.

    Manoeuvre: Both the Insightful Mind and a single ally (of their choice) within 30 feet may immediately move 10 feet without drawing any attacks of opportunity. This movement is a bonus in addition to their normal movement quota.

    Objective: The Insightful Mind may, for no cost, immediately move all of their active objective tokens to a new target or bring an objective token which is not currently active into play.

    Precision: The Insightful Mind may select a single ally within 30 feet whom receives an insight bonus, equal to the Insightful Minds intelligence modifier, when making their next attack roll. If the target ally has not utilised this bonus before the end of their coming turn it dissipates without effect.

    Recuperation: Either the Insightful Mind or a single ally of their choice within 30 feet may immediately heal a number of hit points equal to the Insightful Minds character level +3.

    Resilience: The Insightful Mind may select a single ally within 30 feet whom receives an insight bonus, equal to the Insightful Minds intelligence modifier, when making their next saving throw. If the target ally has not utilised this bonus before the start of their coming turn it dissipates without effect.

    Restoration: The Insightful Mind may select a single ally within 30 feet who receives benefit as though they were the target of a Lesser Restoration spell. This effect is not magical, it is extraordinary, and offers no saving throw or opportunity for spell resistance by the target.

    Ruthlessness: The Insightful Mind may select a single ally within 30 feet whom receives an insight bonus, equal to the Insightful Minds intelligence modifier, when making their next damage roll. If the target ally has not utilised this bonus before the end of their coming turn it dissipates without effect.

    Stratagem: The Insightful Mind may immediately activate their stratagem as though they had struck a foe (spending insight tokens to augment its effects if they so wish). If their stratagem is already active they may alter the bonus it provides.




    Psychoanalyse (Ex):

    An insightful minds read the surface emotions of those they encounter with an intense analytical clarity which allows them to discern their true intentions.

    Upon attaining 6th level an Insightful Mind receives a bonus equal to half their Insightful Mind class level whenever they perform a sense motive skill check.


    Razor Mind (Ex):

    An insightful minds observes her foes with such clarity and focus that she can anticipate their movements and take advantage of their weaknesses with ease.

    Starting at 6th level an Insightful Mind is no longer required them to spend insight tokens to activate their Sharp Mind ability. Instead the ability is deemed constantly active if they possess at least 1 insight token.


    Cohesion (Ex):

    Those who have travelled with an Insightful Mind for some time find that her incredible sense of readiness soon rubs off upon them.

    Starting at 7th level all of the Insightful Minds allies within 30 feet receive a +2 insight bonus to their initiative rolls. Only allies who have accompanied the Insightful Mind for a period of 24 hours over the last week benefit from this ability.


    Everwatch (Ex):

    An insightful minds takes in her surroundings with an uncompromising attention to detail.

    At 8th level the Insightful mind may, as a move action, generate 2 insight tokens.


    Lore Keeper (Ex):

    An insightful minds constant desire for learning enables her to conjure information from the depths of her mind.

    At 8th level the Insightful mind may take 10 on any knowledge check, even if rushed or threatened.


    Flawless Stride (Ex):

    An insightful minds places great value upon control of the battlefield and has developed the ability to automatically adjust to difficult terrain without impeding her movement.

    Upon reaching 9th level the Insightful mind moves through any form of terrain which impedes movement (Undergrowth, Rubble, etc...) at their normal movement speed and without taking damage or any other impairment.

    This ability provides no benefit against terrain which requires a climb or swim check to navigate nor does it assist the Insightful Mind in traversing terrain which has been magically manipulated to impede movement.


    Revised Strategy (Ex):

    An insightful mind is never afraid to alter her strategy and places great importance upon taking time to observe and adapt to changing circumstances.

    Upon reaching 9th level the Insightful mind may choose to spend a standard action in order to reselect their arts as though the encounter had just begun.


    Scrutinizing Gaze (Ex):

    An insightful mind’s powers of observation are so honed that they rarely misses anything of importance.

    Upon reaching 10th level an Insightful Mind may roll two dice and uses the highest result whenever they perform a spot or search check.


    Mind Vault (Ex):

    An insightful mind is gifted with an exceptional memory allowing her to not only recall but visualise her memories with perfect clarity.

    Upon reaching 11th level an Insightful Mind may, once per hour, enter a trance like state where they can visualise up to 5 minutes of their own memory with perfect clarity. While most memories visualised in this way are observed with a sense of analytical detachment some, particularly those of traumatic events, can carry strong emotions which can quickly re-open old mental scars.

    An insightful mind may never view any memory which falls into the first 10th of her lifespan. These experiences fade and wain as they would for any creature.

    In addition the Insightful Mind may take 20 upon any autohypnosis attempt to memorise (or recall) numbers, patterns or similar details they have observed. If the Insightful Mind has no ranks in this skill they immediately gain 1 rank.


    Ploy (Ex):

    Upon reaching 11th level the Insightful Minds may opt to spend 1 insight token when placing an objective token to imbue it with one of the following abilities.

    Location: Bombard

    Any foe who moves within 5 feet of this objective token immediately draws an attack of opportunity from either the insightful mind or any of the insightful minds allies. In either instance the subject performing the attack of opportunity must be within 30 feet of the objective token to make this attack. This ability does not provide an individual with additional attacks of opportunity and thus uses up one of their regular quotas of such attacks.

    Location: Target

    Any foe within 5 feet of this objective token is considered to be flat footed by both the insightful mind and their allies.

    Ally: Evade

    The first 30 feet of this ally’s movement each turn draws no attacks of opportunity.

    Ally: Overwatch

    The total number of attack of opportunity this ally may perform in a round is increased by 1.

    Foe: Mark

    All attacks of opportunity performed against this foe receive a +2 bonus to their attack rolls and damage.

    Foe: Confound

    This foe may perform no attacks of opportunity.



    In later rounds the Insightful Mind may, as a swift action and for the cost of 1 insight token imbue an existing objective token with one of the abilities listed above. A single objective token can be imbued with the effects of multiple abilities but never the same ability twice.


    Mass Flawless Stride (Ex):

    Upon reaching 12th level all of the Insightful Mind’s allies gain the Flawless Stride class ability (see above) for as long as they are within 30 feet of the Insightful Mind.


    Group Think (Ex):

    Upon reaching 13th level an Insightful Mind and all her allies within 30 feet of her position may convey simple messages between one another without alerting those around them. These messages are passed silently via an extremely complex and subtle language of facial movements and gestures which seem entirely mundane if observed.

    While complex this language is not a complete lexicon and it’s impossible to convey information in the same way as one may communicate vocally. That said, almost any tactical instruction, including recommendations regarding which spells an ally might cast or action an individual may perform are perfectly possible – indeed this is the main purpose of the language.

    An illiterate person views this language in the same way they view the written word and therefore fail to grasp its concepts at any level.

    Only individuals whom have spent a period of at least 1 week with the Insightful Mind may communicate in this way.


    Perfected strike (Ex):

    An insightful minds begins to view combat with such tactical assurance that they often know what their adversaries moves will be before they do.

    At 14th level the Insightful gains the ability to make touch attacks whenever they are performing a melee attack or a ranged attack against a foe no more than 30 feet away.


    Blindsight (Ex):

    An insightful minds forms all her sense into a perfected network which allows her to function even when unsighted.

    At 16th level the Insightful gains the Blindsight ability to a range of 60 feet.


    Group Blindsense (Ex):

    An insightful mind hones those around her into a single harmonious and perceptive unit where each member of the team begins to operate with a precision beyond their own innate ability.

    At 16th level all the Insightful Minds allies gain Blindsense to a range of 30 feet as long as they are within 30 feet of the Insightful mind.


    All Sight (Ex):

    In time an Insightful Mind no longer has to actively seek information from the world, instead such insights seem almost drawn to her.

    At 17th level all the Insightful Minds gains 1 insight token at the start of each turn.


    Elementary Deduction (Ex):

    An insightful mind at their zenith of their ability views the world with perfect clarity, able to predict that which may happen from a seemingly endless amount of variables.

    At 20th level the Insightful may, for the cost of 1 insight token, take 10 on any dice roll which requires a twenty sided dice.

    I am interested... not sure what to make of it. I must say, a lot of the abilities require that you hit, but you gave it a bad BAB progression...

    Hiya thank you for your thoughts.

    The idea was that the class is not supposed to be a great warrior. Instead they are best off thinking tacticaly and attacking easy target they can hit, which allow them to trigger their abilities. Its really only important that they hit "something", after which they come in to their own. There is the ability to bolster their attack rolls from level 2 onwards (sharp mind then razor mind) which should make hitting a lot easier as well.

    I have thought about giving them the ability to make all their ranged and melee attacks as touch attacks at higher levels if they spend 1 insight token. This would then improve to allow them to no longer have to spend insight tokens and simply require that they have at least 1 token in the bank.

    You may be right however! This is quite a departure from most the classes i normally make as I wanted to try something different. I'm sort of going for a support class which is more fun than being "mr passive bonus" and gives you the player a bigger tool box to help your team with whilst also doing something yourself each turn.

    On my phone atm but I think that the insight points should 1/2 class level. On top of that I think one should get two insight points for sacrificing a standard. Fluff wise you realize you can't hit the target so contemplate on the situation to better your chances.

    I think by increasing points you give more versatility.

    I'll read it again and see what else comes to mind.

    Do you mean the maximum insight tokens? because at the moment that sits at equal to your intelligence modifier + 1 per 5 levels.

    You can also re-set your tokens to maximum by spending a standard action.

    I see I misread quite a few things. Your way was even better than my fix. I was wondering why you limited the objectives to one each. And why did you decided to have damage being the only bonus?

    Some ideas that came to mind for either a different class feature or maybe increasing the objectives. In addition to those objectives I was thinking you could designate a number of areas as being threatened by all allies. For example the insightful mind designates safe areas where everyone can have sight of these 'danger areas'. I was thinking if in the area the characters may be considered flat footed as well.

    I see an example where the party is being over run but everyone can make an attack of opportunity in all those squares. You put it as line of defense. But the danger squares don't have to be next to each other. I think it would add a little more control to the battlefield. I find the objecting lots of enemies would be over kill but control areas might be within reason.

    What do you think?

    Oh and I love the conditions and effects, and glad you made it so that they can be reformed during an encounter.

    I limited it to only 1 objective of each type to avoid the Insightful Mind spamming the entire play area with them. They are suposed to represent key areas or individuals of importance, rather than a blanket "everything is important".

    I have thought about making a feat which allow you to have 2 of each objective type active, but i'm not sure.

    That said, I think your idea of using the location objective as a trigger to draw attacks of oppertunity is awesome! I will most certainly use that :) It would be fantastic to use such an ability in a bottleneck, the party cutting down foes as they comes.

    I was thinking of the bottle neck too. I was going to suggest a class feature called that but it seemed too limiting. I then had to go over the objectives and other class features to make sure I didn't step on any of their toes. Attack of opportunity just seemed to fit.

    I get the non-blanket effect, and I understand the objective thing better now that you explained it. I like it even more.

    The feat might be pretty good. Everytime I read this class I keep thinking either how great it is or getting new ideas. Feats would be a nice addition. I think all homebrew classes and races should come with their own set of homebrew feats. Just seems fair since there are so many feats for all the core base classes.

    I like the ploy but does the one per objective type hold true(max 3)? Or is it 6 now? What if you could a max of one of each type per 6 levels. 3 ally, 3 foe, and 3 location objectives by lvl 18.

    I think that many (9) objectives being active at once would sort of break the idea and become very powerful.

    Probably a better way of doing it is to have a maximum number of active objectives start at 3 (at 3rd level)and increase by 1 every five levels thereafter (4 at 8th, 5 at 13th and 6 at 18th).

    Additionally you would not be able to have more 2 objectives of the same type active at once.
