    Default Mastery of Ectoplasm... (3.5, ToB, Psionic, PrC) (PEACH)

    Exoplasmic Master


    While many Shapers learn the Astral Construct power, few focus on it. Even fewer focus on a little known adaptation of it that allows them to wield the construct's might as their own.

    Those who do are called Exoplasmic Masters, and respected

    Entry Requirements

    Skills: Psicraft 9 ranks, Craft (Sculpture) 5 ranks
    Feats: Boost Construct, Extend Power
    Maneuvers: Must be able to initiate maneuvers of at least 2nd level, including at least two of the Iron Heart discipline.
    Powers: Must be able to manifest the Astral Construct and Ectoskeleton powers.

    Class Skills: Balance, Concentration, Craft, Jump, Knowledge (Psionics), Martial Lore, Psicraft, Swim, Tumble.

    Skill points at each level: 2+Int modifier


    Weapon and Armor proficiencies: An Exoplasmic Master gains proficiency with no additional weapons or armor.


    Manifesting: At each level except for 3rd and 9th, you gain additional powers known and power points each day as though you had gained a level in a manifester class you have levels in.


    Maneuvers: At 1st level, and every three levels thereafter, you learn a new maneuver from the Iron Heart or Scarlet Bravura discipline, or from one discipline of your choice you had access to before taking your first level in this class, chosen at first level. You must meet all prerequisites in order to learn this maneuver. At 3rd level and every three levels thereafter, you can ready an additional maneuver.


    Stances: At 5th level and every five levels thereafter, you learn an additional stance from the Iron Heart or Scarlet Bravura discipline, or the discipline you chose at 1st level. You must meet all prerequisites to learn this stance.


    Expert Constructor (Su): An Exoplasmic Master focuses on use of the astral construct power as a force multiplier. As such, he develops a number of constructs that he favors the use of. At first level, you may designate a specific astral construct design as favored. When manifesting astral construct to create a construct that is favored, you may use the power as a standard action, instead of a 1 round. At 5th level, and every five levels thereafter, you gain an additional favored construct design. At 4th level, and every two levels thereafter, you may change any of your favored construct designs.


    Free Augment (Ectoskeleton) (Su): At 3rd level, your expertise in use of ectoskeleton and astral construct has enabled you to skip a minor step in converting your construct to additional strength. Whenever you manifest ectoskeleton, you are treated as though you augmented it, for no cost above that of the power.


    Extend Construct (Su): At 5th level, your mastery of the astral construct power has revealed to you a way to ease the difficulty of maintaining it. Whenever you manifest astral construct, it is treated as though it were extended. You do not need to pay additional power points or expend your psionic focus. If you manifest ectoskeleton in the same round as astral construct, that too is extended.


    Free Augment (Astral Construct) (Su): At 7th level, you have uncovered a way to skip a minor part of the manifestation of your favored power. Your astral construct power is treated as though you had augmented it by 2 pp whenever you manifest it. You cannot exceed 9th level constructs with this ability.


    Improved Construct (Su): You have managed to get a little more mileage from your Astral Constructs than most. From 9th level on, whenever you manifest astral construct, the construct created gains an additional ability from the ability menu one weaker than the maximum it can access. (Ex: Simon manifests astral construct, creating a 4th level construct. The strongest abilities it can access are from Menu B, so it gains an additional menu A ability).

    Sort of confused as to what purpose the maneuvers serve, as they aren't used at all.

    Well, first off, there aren't many Psi-gishes using ToB. I dislike that, since ToB makes EVERYTHING better.


    Second... What's an Astral Construct? A giant robot, basically. That should say all that's needed to be said.

    What Pyromancer said. There seems to be very little synergy here. You get a few construct improvements, a few free augments, and maneuvers, but it seems like you took three class ideas that share little in common and stuck them together. Find a few ways to make the features interact, perhaps? Let your construct use your maneuvers? Do something with the Ectoskeleton and constructs like letting the character use his construct as a kind of power armour? Use maneuvers to improve powers? Use powers to improve maneuvers?

    While this is a gish in that it gets two sets of class powers, all the interesting gishes do something that combines the two power sets in an exciting new way.

    Why those disciplines? Neither of them seem very close to psionics or shaping.

    That's exactly what Ectoskeleton does. Convert construct into armor.

    Use maneuvers to improve powers? Use powers to improve maneuvers?
    ...Stance time.

    Ecto-Sustaining Stance (Su): At 5th level, your mastery of both arms and shaping has revealed a way to maintain your constructs for longer periods of time. As a swift action by expending your psionic focus, you can lose the benefit your current stance to gain the benefits of this ability. When you activate this ability, select an active astral construct you created. That construct will not run out of duration. You can maintain this stance for a number of rounds equal to one half of your Initiator level.


    Replacing Extend Construct, of course. Name is changable.

    Because, it wasn't so much "Psionics and Shaping" that inspired this as it was "Astral Constructs are basically robots. Ectoskeleton lets you pilot them. Therefore, Astral Constructs are potentially mecha. Obviously, something must be made using that fact."

    Basically? I saw the power combination, and thought "Super Robot", and those two disciplines sprang to mind as appropriate for a person with a super robot.

    My bad. You just mentioned the thing about Giant robots and the class gives martial maneuvers and I look at your avatar and it screams "Sentai/Power Rangers" to me.

    I know what an Astral Construct is.

    That said, if you're going for a mecha sort of deal, you might want to go with a boost when Ectoskeleton is in effect. Possible enhancements could include increasing the level and/or size of the Astral Construct when Ectoskeleton is in effect, granting it better abilities(including ones off a mecha-themed menu just for this class, if you're willing to put in the work), or even enhancing maneuvers executed through the Astral Construct when Ectoskeletoned or otherwise.
