    I really recommend it. If I recall right, she was pretty monstrous once given attack magic, and pretty much dodged everything. Very much like Serra, now that I think about it, whom I also like using.

    I had to get the game to find the chapter I was stuck on.

    It was chapter 18.. I couldn't beat it with all my units still alive.. I always lost at least two..

    The annoying part is that it's just past the route split so you won't have all your best units, and you won't have the time to bring up your other units. Oh well. Give Ephraim a bigger share of good units and hope for the best.

    Well, a little more RNG screwiness here, with Franz missing an 80, and Neimi missing two consecutive 77s. Final boss was fed to Seth because it was technically a promoted unit (With 3 Str, 1 Skl, and 2 Def), meaning Seth could get a decent amount of experience out of it. Unfortunately his level could have been better. Speaking of levels, Eirika is doing very well, and Lute is… not.

    Further talk about Neimi and Colm.

    Seeing as I forgot to mention it last time, Neimi has the ability to promote into either a Sniper or a Ranger. The Sniper is as you would expect, but with the addition of the “Sure Strike” ability, which gives 100% accuracy upon activation. Unfortunately, most Snipers already have accuracy near 100%, and this skill has been largely written off as redundant by the fans. Her Ranger form is essentially a renaming of the Nomad Trooper, meaning that she gains a horse and the use of swords, but at the cost of her ability to use ballistas.

    Colm, on the other hand, has the choice between the Rouge and Assassin classes. The Assassin class is a critmaster class, but with its increased focus on combat, looses some of its thief abilities. The Rouge, on the other hand, masters the thieving skills. Rouges gain the “Pick” ability, which allows them to open doors and chests without the use of lockpicks, removing the need to keep stealing lockpicks from other thieves forevermore.

    HP: 55%
    Mag: 50%
    Skl: 55%
    Spd: 40%
    Luk: 25%
    Def: 15%
    Res: 55%

    Artur is a Monk, and our first offensive caster. Personality-wise, he is a Nice Guy ™, with all the rights and privileges thereto. “Rights and privileges” apparently includes the right to be a magic tank, judging by his high HP and Res, decent Spd, and then bolstering it with his solid Mag and Skl growths. Really, Artur’s only weakness is his Def, which means I will be keeping him out of arm’s reach.

    When Artur promotes, he can become either a Bishop or a Sage. The Bishop gains staves and the “Slayer” skill, which will cause his magic to do triple damage to any monsters we encounter, while the Sage has been buffed to use both Anima and Light magic, plus staves.

    Lute


    HP: 45%
    Mag: 65%
    Skl: 30%
    Spd: 45%
    Luk: 45%
    Def: 15%
    Res: 40%

    Lute is a Mage, our second offensive caster, and is our Kazooie to Artur’s Banjo. She believes herself to be the most powerful magician ever, and with that Mag growth of hers, one can see why. Alas, the RNG has seen fit to enforce the “I am superior” trope to its fullest, and cursed her level-ups to suck.

    When If Lute promotes, she can either become a Sage (as discussed above) or a Mage Knight, which is essentially a Valkyrie of the previous game, with Anima and Staves on a horse. (The actual Valkyrie class has been changed to use Light magic.)

    I will try to do these at levels that are multiples of 5 from now on.

    Eirkia has above average HP, Spd, and Def, and is average in Str, Skl, Luck, and Res. I was worried about her Str for a while, but if she can keep her other abilities in line, I will forgive her if she falls a point or two behind there.

    Franz


    Franz has above average Skl, Def, and Res, average Spd and Luck, and below average HP and Str. His levels have been up and down, and after doing the math, he is not quite as bad as I had feared. I will keep using him for now, and see what becomes of him.

    Gilliam


    Gilliam has above average Str, Skl, Luck, Def, and Res, with average HP and Spd. However, he has only leveled up twice, so unless he keeps improving Skl, Luck, and Res, he will fall back to average there quickly.

    Next chapter I have a kill the boss objective for which I may bring seven units plus Eirika and the Cleric I will pick up at the start. I am thinking of bringing Seth, Franz, Gilliam, Vanessa, Ross, Neimi, and Artur. Also, there is an arena here. Due to my “no elongating the battle” rule, it is unlikely that I will get a lot of grinding in. I’m thinking about rushing Seth to the arena, so he can gain some experience without robbing it from the rest of the team.

    Well, if Ross can't go to the enemies, the enemies must come to Ross. Play defense and baby Ross. This also has the nice side effect of giving Seth more time in the arena without violating your "no drawing out the chapter in order to arena grind rule.

    You know...I never really believed Joshua's coinflip was a legit coinflip. Natasha doesn't see the coin land, and anyway, Joshua knows how to cheat, too. So I always got the vibe that the whole thing was a pretense on his part, ala Edgar and Sabin's coin toss from Final Fantasy VI.

    He knows what he wants to do, the coin is just his way of making permission to do it without damaging his image or pride.
