Re: Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil OOC
Not exactly sure. With Anderkent still gone and the prospect of a new PC I assumed going ahead with an assault on the temple right now would be impractical for OOC reasons; unless of course said PC turns out to be a prisoner we free. Maybe fill the time with interrogating the goblin or PC-PC talk?

My librarian wizard dwarf is not going to do well at interrogating. TFO, do you want to take the lead on that?

Re: Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil OOC
What kind of emphasis does hobgoblin religion/culture put on loyalty to your superiors? In MMV hobgobbos got a somewhat pseudo-Japanese thing and I wonder if that holds true here.

Re: Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil OOC
Was 'sheld' intentional or an accidental misspelling of shield? I think I know what he's saying, although if that's a second goblin term things could vary.

Re: Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil OOC
Uhm... hello everyone. So, before I post IC, I thought it would be good form to introduce myself here. I'm the replacement player Sallera contacted, and I'll be playing Gwern, our friendly neighbourhood
necrcleric.
If nobody minds, I'll be posting in purple. I'm looking forward to play with you.
Any questions, curiosities, comments, generic random banter please do feel free to throw it at me.
I'll be posting IC in a few minutes. Let's get this show on the road.

Re: Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil OOC
Enjoy your weekend.
By the way, just to let you know, I made two minor changes to my sheet: made him 10 years younger to make it consistent with my background (the forty was a leftover from when I was thinking of a different kind of backstory
) and purchased a spare holy symbol.

Re: Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil OOC
Disclaimer (just because none of you have ever played with me): I swear I don't want to be difficult, but Gwern is a (lawful neutral) cleric of Wee Jas. He's not going to randomly disregard what he considers to be his missions to go attacking goblins.
Don't worry, we'll definitely make this work, one way or the other. May just take a bit of back-and-forward, is all.

You're not the first to make that mistake Strawberries. It's Tironius, not -ious. Latin.
Would Tironius know of Emridy Meadows add modifier as applicable - (1d20)[7]

Re: Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil OOC
Emridy Meadows is famous enough in the area that most everyone has heard of it; it was the battle twenty-two years ago that routed the original forces of the Temple at the height of their power.

Re: Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil OOC
I think so? We are trying to go back to intimidate the hobgoblin, aren't we?

Re: Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil OOC
Arr, still haven't figured out how to write the next part. I think it's a problem with the character; I don't 'feel' him like my other ones. Those just flow naturally, I know what they say and how they act almost instantly. They just feel more alive, and I haven't managed that yet with Tironius.
I think it's partly because the whole inner darkness and dichotomy thing got lost along the way. I wanted go get into that the first time he's truly pressed in combat, triggering a short burst of anger and loss of his usual cold control. It just never happened as with luck and Invisibility nothing's hurt him much yet. And as he is he feels a bit too static.
Sorry to leave you hanging, but I need to consider in which direction to drive Tironius to make him a better character.

Re: Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil OOC
Thanks for the support
I notice I didn't really consider the differences of PbP. In my old RL group one guy played a very cold and unemotional wizard. It was quite awesome when he said 'You have my sincere and honest gratitude' in a complete deadpan voice. But PbP is different. A character lacking emotional and facial reaction range is hard to write about. I ran into this with a Warforged before, wonder why I forgot. I like to describe my characters' tone and movement along with their speech, and with Tironius I noticed a couple times I just can't figure out what to say because he is rather static. So perhaps it is not necessarily I can't imagine what he does; it's also that often he does too little worth writing about.
Any ideas? I'm open to suggestions.
