Default The Unleashed [3.5 PrC Based on LoL Champ Syndra]

    Unleashed
    {Scrubbed. Please do not use copyrighted images without permission of the rights-holder. Simple credit is not sufficient.}

Background: Most Unleashed are selfish, caring only for the pursuit of power, unlocking their own potential. This doesn’t always mean they are cruel, and even the most dedicated of Unleashed can use their colossal power in widely good ways. What every single Unleashed shares is one thing: Power. Masses of power, and a lust for more.
Races: Any race can become an Unleashed, as long as they possess the ability to use magic.
Other Classes: Unleashed have a tendency to look down upon classes that do not draw upon the supernatural as being weaker, considering magic the only true path.
Role: An Unleashed is a caster, and should do so from a distance.
Unleashed in the World: An Unleashed is most commonly viewed as a threat. Their overwhelming potential, and lack of regard for others makes them a major danger to anyone nearby. However, some Unleashed are willing to use their power with a little care-sometimes only to aid others, more commonly just out of hearing.
Inspiration: Really, the art doesn’t tell you? :P

Weapon and Armour Proficiency: An Unleashed gains no new proficiencies.

Spellcasting: When a new Unleashed level is gained, the character gains new spellcasting abilities as if he had also gained a level in a spellcasting class he belonged to before adding the prestige class. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained, except for an increased effective level of spellcasting. If a character had more than one spellcasting class before becoming an Unleashed, he must decide to which class he adds the new level for purposes of determining spells per day.

Dark Spheres (Sp): An Unleashed has the spell-like ability to summon balls of violent energy, that cause devastating damage to those nearby when created.
In addition, the Unleashed gains three spheres that orbit her constantly. She may not dismiss these spheres, but may manipulate them, make them smaller, weaker, or even near imperceptible.
She may use the spheres, whether the three she controls directly or those she creates, as weapons. This is a supernatural ability.

Creating a sphere is a standard action. It is treated as a spell like ability, with a spell level equal to half the Unleashed’s caster level, with a maximum of nine. It deals 1d4 untyped damage per caster level, plus the user’s spellcasting ability modifier, in a diameter of 10ft. This diameter is placed anywhere within close range-25ft+5ft/2 levels. A successful reflex save halves this damage, and spell resistance applies. Spheres remain for 1d6 rounds after they are created, unless she has less than three spheres, in which case they return to orbit her after this duration.

Using a Dark Sphere as a weapon requires an attack action. It has a range of 10ft+5ft/2 caster levels, and is a ranged attack roll using dexterity. It does not provoke attacks of opportunity. She may attack using any sphere she sees, measuring range from that sphere. After being used to attack once, a sphere returns to orbit the Unleashed, and cannot attack again that round. These Spheres deal untyped damage equal to 2d4+spellcasting ability mod.
Spheres may be used with Two-Weapon Fighting, and an Unleashed qualifies for Multiweapon fighting, as if they had three limbs. (They cannot make more attacks by creating more spheres) Using spheres in this way does not allow spell resistance.
For the purposes of using Dark Spheres, an Unleashed treats her base attack bonus from Unleashed Levels as being equal to her class level, including any increase in her number of attacks that this may imply. When used as weapons, Dark Spheres are considered natural weapons.

Unleashing: The power of an Unleashed does not lie in control, but in going beyond their power. Whenever they create a Dark Sphere, cast a spell, or use any ability that uses their caster level, they may draw upon their excess power. If they do, the spell’s caster level is increased by the number in the table. However, on the Unleashed’s next round, she may not cast spells or use her Dark Sphere ability.

She may still use existing Dark Spheres as weapons, and the roiling energies enhance them. Until the end of the round after the round she Unleashes, her Dark Spheres deal bonus damage equal to 1d4 for each level her Unleashed raises her caster level.

Force of Will (Su): At 2nd level, an Unleashed becomes capable of fine control of her spheres. As a move action up to twice an encounter, she may lift a sphere in sight, pulling it to her. She may hold it for up to (spellcasting ability mod) rounds before resetting its (1d6 rounds) duration and dropping it. Each round it is held requires a swift action to maintain.

At any point while she holds a sphere, she may throw it as a standard action to disrupt the stability of an area, slowing all those within. This does the same damage as the initial creation, but with a 20ft diameter. All within this area are entitled to a reflex save to halve damage. If they fail, they are also Slowed, as the spell, for one round per class level.

Bend to My Will (Ex): A 3rd level Unleashed does not believe in subtlety. She gets by on sheer might. She may make Intimidate or Bluff checks instead of Spellcraft checks.

Scatter The Weak (Su): A 3rd level Unleashed can scatter hordes with a display of her power. Whenever she uses her Unleashing ability she may make an intimidate or bluff check, as if using a standard action to demoralise with intimidate, targetting all non-friendly beings within 30ft that can see her. A being that saves against this fear is immune to additional Scatter The Weak triggers from the same Unleashed for the next 24 hours.

Ultimate Power (Su): At fourth level, an Unleashed can release a cataclysmic attack by launching every sphere she has at her foes. By spending a full round action, she may make a ranged touch attack, using the higher of her spellcasting ability modifier and her dexterity modifier. If she misses, there are no ill effects other than the waste of her round.

If she hits, each of the spheres she currently possesses strikes the target with terrible force, each doing 2d4+1/2spellcasting modifier untyped damage. The spheres are destroyed by this impact, and the Unleashed only regains orbiting spheres by creating new ones. After this technique strikes a foe, the Unleashed cannot use it again that encounter, even if she replenishes her spheres.

Transcendence: At fifth level, an Unleashed power greatly enhances.

Her created Dark Spheres now last for 1d6+2 rounds, while ones used as weapons return to her immediately after attacking, allowing her to make as many attacks as she can make using them.

Her Force of Will can be maintained as a free action.

Her Scatter the Weak applies even against foes immune to fear, reducing the immunity to a +4 bonus, while bonuses to fear are reduced to nothing. Other creatures are frightened if they fail their save.

    Prestige Destiny
A Prestige Destiny is an alternate class feature given to a base class to replace some feature with that of a prestige class. Its intention is to solve the problem that a character may be created based on a PrC, and then require five levels of uselessness before they reach it.

    Untapped Power
Replaces: First level of Wizard, Sorcerer, Arcane full spellcasting classes
Lost: Spellcasting. An Untapped knows one less spell of level 1 and level 0, and remains one behind indefinitely..
    Gained: Following ability:
Loyal Sphere (Su): The Untapped is orbited by a sphere of energy, which they can propel at their foes to cause powerful damage.
Using the Dark Sphere as a weapon requires an attack action. It has a range of 10ft+5ft/2 caster levels, and is a ranged attack roll using dexterity. It does not provoke attacks of opportunity. After being used to attack once, a sphere returns to orbit its master, and cannot attack again that round. These Spheres deal damage equal to 2d4+spellcasting ability mod, and are considered natural weapons.
And: Intimidate as a class skill.
End: If the Untapped ever takes the first level of Unleashed, she achieves this destiny. Her sphere is now one of the ones described in the Dark Sphere ability. An Untapped who takes the first level of Unleashed learns an additional 1st and 0th level spell when she does.

I'm not very familiar with the inspiration for this class, but this is a very well made, interesting class which stands on its own.

You've left out class skills, may I suggest the wizard list plus Intimidation and Bluff, I might be tempted to suggest the Warlock list but, this class seems to be more geared toward wizards than warlocks and it would be odd for a mage enhancing her ability to wield uncontrollable energies to to increase learning things like sleight of hand, hide and disguise, fluff wise at least.

Are the Dark Spheres orbiting an Unleashed dismissible by the character her self? Diplomatic encounters would take on an interesting tone when one character is surrounded by volatile, swirling energies at all times. Something roughly equivalent to a fighter who has to point his sword at anyone he talks to.

Did you consider having some effect to the area around the Unleashed? Perhaps something like a small amount of damage to people standing adjacent to the character or even penalties to actions taken in the same area.

    Thanks!

Yeah, I was very tired when I posted it. The skill list will be based on sorcerer, plus intimidate and a few things they SHOULD have.

Hmm. I'd probably prefer it if they couldn't be dismissed, but they can be reduced in power.

AoE is... interesting, but if you're that close to the opponent then you have problems anyway
