A bit of technical help
I am getting an ipod classic for christmas and I was wondering. Will I be able to take my mp3 player, and copy the files directly into my ipod? Because that would be a HUGE time saver.

No. To add songs to an ipod you need to sync it through iTunes, or one of the other third party media programs that also have sync capability.

Re: A bit of technical help
I think the iPod maintains an index of files stored on the device, so you need software that can access and update this index. I recommend iTunes or Winamp.

Re: A bit of technical help
So, wait, does this mean I wont be able to rip and burn the songs I have on cd onto my ipod either? It doesnt work as easily as my mp3 did? I think I just went through windows media player or something, ripped a copy of the music off the cd into the library, then burned it onto the mp3.

You just need to add the mp3s that you ripped from the cds into itunes, then you'll be able to put them on the ipod

Re: A bit of technical help
I't actually rather easy, iTunes does it all for you. There's just no way to get anything from any source directly onto your player, like you would do with most other players.
Not to spoil your fun, but that's the reason I prefer other companies for my mp3 players.Si non confectus, non reficiat.
