It's also a font, but the font takes its name from the country. Now, practically no one calls the country by that name to start with. We generally refer to it as Switzerland instead.

Also, fonts have such a wide variety of names. I can't be entirely certain that I won't be giving any future kids the same name as a font by pure accident...

It is never referred to as Helvetica. The name is Helvetia from the Helvetii who dwelt there in Roman times.

Phew, 4 and a half hour of sleep, and then an exam. All because I was stupid enough to light my bedside lamp before actually making sure that it was time to get up. It's funny how impossible it suddenly gets to go back to sleep when you actually have time to do so...

Oh well, the exam went splendid, apart from the third to last question, which told me to explain the difference between inheritance and aggregation, the latter being a concept that was quite heavily glossed over in the very first lab we had, and then mentioned just about never again (and certainly not in the slides). Well, at least my grade won't be threatened by this...

Also, there were quite a lot of stupid errors in the exam. Apart from some simple spelling errors, they told us to write an equals method for "the personclass" [/liberal translation shenanigans], when the code they presented to us (to work on) was for a class named Book. And in the very next question, they give us code to a method named return, despite the fact that return is a keyword in Java that can't be used in method names. The code wouldn't even pass compilation!

All in all, I must say that it didn't look all too prefessional. Or at least not like something a professional actually spent a sufficient amount of time on putting together...

    ION:
I've got all my Christmas shopping done for now. The last piece was a Donald Duck book, preferably with Don Rosa, which I was hunting down for littlest brother. There is a comic store in my town, but I've never set my foot inside it before. Nevertheless, I knew that if there was anywhere I should turn in my search, then it was there, and I turned out to be correct. I'd barely gotten through the door before I found exactly what I was looking for. The feeling of a swift and total success is quite hard to beat.

Now I just need to do a bit of wrapping and I'm all done for the 24th.

That may be the case, but it still does not change the fact that Switzerland has never been referred to as Helvetica.

This is my main problem with most of the serif fonts on this forum: they get way too cluttered.

As I thought, it looks better when enlarged. Although a size of 2.5 would've been more optimal...

Also, I can barely see any difference between them two. Is there any, or is ClearType just messing with my eyes?

correct, the classical roman name for Switzerland is Helvetia, not Helvetica

My computer defaults to Calibri or Cambria, depending on if the bit of text is marked as a heading or body. This is good because Cambria is slightly larger than Times New Roman, which as far as I can tell would otherwise be the default serif font. Thus, a two-page paper it's shorter. Teacher never thought of mandating a particular font, just a size.

I have no preference for font, honestly. If I was doing something that required font having, I'd entrust someone else to pick a good font. As long as it's clear and readable, it's good.

Trebuchet MS is the best, if only because it has the word "trebuchet" in it.
