Re: Which D&D Organizations Have the Most Traction? (Any Edition)
The Zhentarim, the Harpers and the Red Wizards of Thay have to be up there a bit.

Re: Which D&D Organizations Have the Most Traction? (Any Edition)
The Red Wizards of Thay. The Harpers, obviously. I don't care a whit about Zhents, however, and since I've never played in an actual campaign on the sword coast, Shadow Thieves pretty much never come up. But the Red Wizards? Those dudes are everywhere, man. Just, head tattoos as far as the eye can see.
The Knights of Solamnia are a fixture in my friend's campaigns, so I hear a ton about of them.

I don't know what you're talking about, sir. It says No Items plain as day...
On a more serious note, I'd say that most of the answers are going to be older Forgotten Realms stuff.

Re: Which D&D Organizations Have the Most Traction? (Any Edition)
id also agree red wizards they are one of the few that’s fairly distinctive even outside their primary setting.
I think an important criteria is how often do people who don’t play (or read books set) in their setting of origin know of them.
Forgotten realms numerous video games gives it an edge when it comes to notability.Last edited by awa; 2012-12-19 at 01:07 PM.
