Brainstorming/Thoughts: One Class to Rule Them All
So, we've seen the growth of menu-based options with most Pathfinder classes, and other classes such as Baron Corm's Generic Class. Stuff such as this makes characters more customizable and to the player's liking than many previous classes.
As such, I was wondering what people would think of a game where there was one standard class with the option to choose from a menu to choose their abilities, increase their BAB and saves, and other stuff. Would this be feasible? If so, how so? If you don't think so, why not? What's your general opinion on such a class?Newest Work: Pyromancer - My submission for Base Class Contest X

It generally sounds like a full point buy system almost like GURPS except with probably more heroic, probably howebrewed, options. To say whether I would like it or not as well as others is purely how you structure it and what is offered.
Classes make it easy it to define a character so long as the class was good overall, however we all know that isn't always the case. A single class with lots of options while will likely produce a good character so long as the player knows what they are doing it also does beg the question of definition(role) of the character. It is easy to stick in a Jack of All trades with other specialists but not so much with other Jack of All trades players.Last edited by Amnoriath; 2013-01-09 at 10:49 AM.

I mean, you could just use the linked baron crom system... possibly with more options if you think it needs them.
I think it would feasible if the players were willing to figure out what sort of character they wanted to make. It wouldn't be quite as idiot proof as the normal class system... but people with a character in mind would be happy to piece together a class with the point buy and menu system.

True20 sort of does that. I mean, it has three example classes (warrior, expert, mage) but includes very clear and detailed rules for how to make your own.
