Long Term Game IC: Chapter I - The Herald of Chains

Due to the somewhat experimental nature of what has gone into play, Leo decides to stay in town for a while longer to make sure all goes well with the Gnolls. He then retires to his quarters after spending his night in the tavern.

The following morning the Mystical Sha-Lue meets the others over breakfast.

The Mystical Sha-Lue sees wisdom in leaving soon. He declares in a hushed tone. "As it happens a great many people like The Mystical Sha-Lue yet over time people no longer care for the same shows, nor pay the same coin. After a while we can return, but The Mystical Sha-Lue will only wait two days before taking his leave of here. After all the world is big, and there is more to be seen! After all children do not wait to grow old and wirrysom, and all must see my arts before then.

I agree that there is not much sense in staying here. We might return after some time to see how things are going, but generally we won't be needed here, while some other poor village might need our help.

[drack]

Pausing a moment to allow others to raise a new point The Mystical Sha Lue declares "Good, two days it is." And leaving to entertain some poor farm folk at the edge of town.

Leonardo agrees, and then heads off to meet with the Herald of Chains.

The Herald fixes his bird-like gaze upon you as you enter, waiting for you to speak.

A pleasant and comforting smile appears on Leonardo's face. "Hello Thocbod. How are you liking Dragon's Dale?" he says, starting off with some pre-interrogation banter.

[rweird]

"It is better than what we had." He answers simply. "The people aren't fully accepting of us, or us of them... yet, though I think there will be further progress on that front."

[afrenchpenguin]

"That is good to hear, hopefully that will all get sorted out." He pauses. "What do you think would have happened if all of this didn't turn out the way it did.?"

The Herald looks a bit taken aback by your question, he pauses before saying. "Well, we would have attempted to locate the prison, and release the Chained Lord. He'd give us our place in his society."

"Mhm, and there is no chance of you attempting to do this now... Is there?"

[rweird]

"Unless we are exiled once again, no, there is not."

[afrenchpenguin]

"Glad to hear it." Leonardo portrays a genuine smile. "I apologize but my curiosity has gotten the better of me, a while ago you said that the Coming had hastened. Though this may be irrelevant now I wish to know, how so?"

[rweird]

"Making progress finding the prison, we've narrowed the area down somewhat, though the area still truly is massive."

[afrenchpenguin]

"Which prison are you speaking of? I may have heard of it."

[rweird]

"The Prison of Ages, it is lost, made just for him, and then hidden away centuries ago. Heard of it?"

[afrenchpenguin]

"I'm not familiar with the name, give me a second to remember. I might have heard a thing or two while traveling from town to town."

"Yeah, doesn't ring a bell. This sounds like a lovely addition to my mental collection of stories, do you mind telling me more about it?."

"No, though I don't know much about it. It holds him in, though prisons are made to keep things in, I don't know of the defenses, though we believe it to be in either the north or the west of here, and at least 20 miles from this town. We know little else of it."

"Hmm, is this some kind of regulated prison? Because If so there must be some form of documentation on it."

[rweird]

"We don't know if it is regulated, it is not regulated by your government, and the regulators would not venture into the outside world, unless the go in disguise, making me suspect the majority, if not all of the workers do not die naturally, and have no need of food or drink. The Hobgoblins might know more, I believe the documentation would be inside the prison, if any exists."

"How did you find out about this prison?"

[rweird]

"The gnolls remember his legend, it just has truth in it. The prison is mentioned. Why it is hardly known is because few have the time to listen to gnollish legends, and fewer still think the legends are worth the time, if they think we have them at all."

[afrenchpenguin]

"Interesting, well thank you for your time Thocbod, hopefully our paths shall cross again." Leonardo begins to walk away, back in the direction of the tavern.

the Mystical Sha-Lue is handsome, and who could be stranger? He greats her with an overly exaggerated bow, tells a few jokes, exchanges a few jabs, and moves on.

Kirinith finds some handsome strangers she befriends. They seem to have ordinary lives, excepts for a passing traveler, who walked through town, seemingly uncaring of you, making no acknowledgement of your presence no matter what you say.

Leo spends the rest of his day in the tavern, he performs for strangers and meeting new people.

You set out down the road towards the capital, after about 20 minutes, two horsemen come into sight, riding fast and clad in armor. As they approach they slow down and stop in front of you. "What is your business here?" one of them calls.
