Almost 50 pages last thread and you snatch it like Durkon snatched Belkar from Makack's jaw.

Honestly I was kind of expecting this, if you read the DStP bonus strip there was a mention that
SpoilerBelkar was gonna save Hinjo's life twice.

Re: OOTS #871 - The Discussion Thread
Now, it seems it does not look good for Durkon instead of for Belkar. "Posthumously"? Yeah, sounds about right.
Malack might now pick someone better suited as friend/offspring than Belkar.Ser Ilyn, Ser Meryn, Queen Cersei, King Joffrey, The Tickler, The Hound, Ser Amory, Polliver, Raff the Sweetling, Weese, Dunsen, Nale, Ser Gregor Clegane and Chiswyck: Winter is coming!

Re: OOTS #871 - The Discussion Thread
Ha, this is great. Agreeing with Mauve, the title was completely misleading in the best way. I love the Durkon characterization that has been appearing throughout his interactions with Malack. And the utter brilliance of using Mass Death Ward now... Excellent work!

@OOTS Fandom: Ha haaaaaaaaa...... [snicker]
@Strip: Oh, dang, but I still can't help but find it charming how genuinely Malack values Durkon's friendship. This likely won't end well, but as of right now I still can't feel myself disliking the guy.

Re: OOTS #871 - The Discussion Thread
The misleading title is magnificent.
Belkar saved (for now) it's a masterful twist.
...but Durkon's "yuck" face is priceless!Do I contradict myself?

Re: OOTS #871 - The Discussion Thread
Hmm... Will Belkar be mad at Durkon for "saving" him? The Belkster wasn't happy to have been saved from Miko's Smite Evil. Even if he didn't know Malak was a vampire, I wonder if Belkar wouldn't have minded being a bloodsucker himself.
Killing, with style? Fits Belkar's self image. Thanks to Ceika (X2), Yeril, Holammer and Dr. Bath for the Avatars!

Re: OOTS #871 - The Discussion Thread
Hey, Mr. Scruffy is attending to Belkar. I'm not certain, but it looks like he's licking his wounds to clean them. Depending on how vampirism spreads here, this could get interesting.

Seriously though, I wonder how this divine vs Divine fight will look, if there is a fight at all. Divine battles have been purposefully made bland in the past, an our two casters here are roughly the same levels Red-Cloak and the Sapphire Cleric were when they fought.Last edited by Doxkid; 2013-02-25 at 06:39 AM.

Re: OOTS #871 - The Discussion Thread
I had a feeling Belkar wouldn't be "drawing his last breath, ever" quite yet, even to come back undead. Predicted the rescue wrong though, I thought it was going to be V randomly stumbling onto the situation. Interesting to see Malack helping Durkon research that spell coming back on him that quickly.
If vampirism here operates under standard D&D rules that shouldn't work, a vampire would need to either use energy draining slams or it's constitution draining bite to spread the disease. Also, I think under standard rules animals can't become vampires, but I could certainly be wrong.Last edited by Joseph_Lavode; 2013-02-25 at 06:43 AM.

Re: OOTS #871 - The Discussion Thread
Finally, first post!
A little Mass Death Ward foreshadowing, maybe? However I think, if Malack has to come down to this,
SpoilerBreak Enchantment. *turns Belk into vampire, and turns him on Durkon*
That way, all predictions stay the same, and adds Durkon's posthumous return to the roster. Durkon might turn him, but only after he had wounded him severely enough for Malack to finish him off (he wasted a standard action, I think on MDW.Last edited by Shadebolt; 2013-02-25 at 07:54 PM.

Re: OOTS #871 - The Discussion Thread
Well, I can understand Malack's reasons for his vampirism in the first place, but serving blood and wart tea to palace guests? That's just crude.

Blood and warts?! I'm surprised it still tasted anything like tea.
...assuming it still tasted anything like tea, that is.
