Elsee grunted as she took a looong sip of her grape juice, almost slamming it back onto the table as she followed it up with a beltch. "Could say that" She started. "We've got that darkvision thing fera reason yaknow, 'nd it's not cuz we like knowin who's too cold at night."

"Thank you," the woman says. She looks a bit better.

Jadeite returns with Alim once the goblin's dressed. When he sees the look on Artorias' face, he asks, "What did that woman have to say?"

[Dusk Eclipse]

"She and some others found a dead corpse in an alley, no wounds, so I'm guessing it was magic. Figured out you would be interested" He then notices Alim"There you are Alim are you up to some investigation work?"

[Devmaar]

"Always, just let me grab a bite to eat."

[Athedia]

The Badger wrinkled her nose. "That makes the job so much harder. Want I should talk the town and read if anyone has gone missing who sounds like the corpse?"

[Dusk Eclipse]

"Probably a good idea; but I say we first take a look at the body, the gal who found him told me they told the watch, so it probably will be either with them or at one of Astrid's temples.... Is Elsee ok?"

"Fascinating," Jadeite says, visibly perking up. "I believe I would be able to identify what magic, if any, caused his death."

As the group finishes their breakfast and debates how to search for more information, they decide that there are two places to look: The watchtower or one of the several temples of Astrid. Where are they going to head first?

I know where the best place to go first is but obviously I'm not going to say it. And no, you don't know the location of the murder or where the body was found at this time.

"I think we should head towards the Watchtower first, any objections? No? Good, then let's move out" Without giving the others a say in the matter Artorias begins the walk to the Watchtower.

At the watchtower, Artorias and the group are greeted by the same woman from the long orange hair from last night. Her back is turned to the group as she removes her armor, but everyone can head her loudly yawn. She dons a slim sword and is about to walk out the door when she sees the mercenaries and stops.

"You again? My shift ended five minutes ago; what is it now?"

[Dusk Eclipse]

"Yes, yes it is us again, I was told the watch was informed of a a dead body that was found, I was wondering if you would be so kind to tell us where they took the body" Artorias begins to talk in his usual snarky way; but as he speaks he softens his voice, trying to avoid infuriating the woman.

"Well, you should have come here a few hours ago since he's not here any longer," the guard retorts as she pins her hair back. "You honestly think we'd leave a corpse stinking up the post in the middle of summer? The clerics came around early this morning, probably took him to the main temple and told his parents. Now if you'll excuse me I need my beauty sleep."

With that, she leaves.

Elsee smirks as the human leaves, gently patting Artorias on as high of his back she could reach as she spoke.

"There there loverboy you'll get the gerl someday. Maybe you can envite her to sometheng you both enjoy, like catching serial killers and pickpockets."

[Athedia]

The Badger held back a laugh trying to keep a calm face for the benefit of the group. "We should find out who the parents are. Question them if the boy had any enemies." She started walking toward the temple, assuming the rest of the group would follow.

[Dusk Eclipse]

Elsee smirks as the human leaves, gently patting Artorias on as high of his back she could reach as she spoke.

"There there loverboy you'll get the gerl someday. Maybe you can envite her to sometheng you both enjoy, like catching serial killers and pickpockets."

"Not right now Elsee, we've got work to do. "

The Badger held back a laugh trying to keep a calm face for the benefit of the group. "We should find out who the parents are. Question them if the boy had any enemies." She started walking toward the temple, assuming the rest of the group would follow.

"Problem is we don't know who the boy is, let's look into the main temple"

[Athedia]

"That is why I am going to the temple. Maybe the priests have contacted the family already." She tapped a finger to her forehead to indicate she had thought of that point and continued walking. Naga trotted beside her occasionally sniffing the ground.

The temple to Astrid is large and open. The morning sun filters through the atrium and bounces off the gleaming twin statues of Chilmado and Salblaze, Astrid's sacred dragons.

Sorry for the short post, the last class before spring break is about to start.

""We've got work to do"" Elsee mimicked in the best best "Artoias" voice she could muster, idly following the group towards the temple of the ever-popular goddess. As the group got closer to the temple, Elsee found herself sinking to the back of the group, somehow reaching out to try and grab Alim's wrist to pull him back with her in the process*.

"Weee should probably wait outside 'er somethin. These types aren't really known 'fer loven our-types."

The Badger paused before the entrance. She had no great love of the gods, they did not seem to care about the people they called their "children", but she accepted that others believed in them and was more than glad to use the services that the temple offered. Of course, they never liked it when she tried to bring Naga in, something about animals drinking all the holy water or some nonsense. What animal would drink that stuff?

"Naga, guard Elsee and Alim."

The bloodhound trotted over to the small goblin and sat by her feet. His eyes met hers as he looked up at the creature he was to protect.

"Hmm, probably a good idea."

Elsee silently sat on the ground and gently pet the small canine, resting her head on her fist wich was propped up on her leg.

"Well eye can already tell that this'll be fun."

Inside the temple:

The temple is quiet, as morning services finished almost an hour ago and it's another two before afternoon prayers. There are clerics and alcolytes milling about, their rank denoted by trim or lack thereof on their purple cloaks. There are also citizens waiting to receive blessings and spells. If the group listens closely, they can hear the most sorrowful sobbing, although the large echoing chamber seems to swallow sound and reverberate it at the same time, making it hard to tell the original source without some effort.

Outside the temple:
The already hot day is starting to become sticker, more like Runitian summer weather. After a few minutes of sitting around and doing nothing, Elsee looks up to see a small kid in old ratty clothes tear past with a thrilled yet slightly nervous look on his face. He's clutching something close to his chest as he runs.

The Badger listened closely, trying to hear where the sound came from.

Elsee grinned as she watched the boy run off, kid probably stole some bread or fruit or something from a local vender, she gave a mental cheer for him as she watched him run off, sinking herself to lean against the branches of a bush between her and the wall of the temple, still gently petting the canine with one hand as the three of them waited.

Thanks to her "on-the-job" training, Badger can easily pinpoint the sound's source. It's a small room off to the side, out of the way and easily passed over. The door's slightly ajar. There are at least three figures inside, and you can feel cooler air coming from within.

Outside the temple:

Less than a minute after the kid runs past, an older man, probably in his early twenties, runs along the road as well. He looks around frantically for a moment, then clenches his fists and stomps the ground with a curse.

Elsee shifted her weight a pit to prevent a particularly strong branch from jabbing her in the back as she observed the older man, quirking an eyebrow at his frustration. Seemed likely that this was the guy the kid from before stole from, she didn't see any need to tell him where the kid went, but figured she may as well ask.

"Somethin wrong ser?"

The man jumps a bit; he didn't see Elsee out of the corner of his eye. With a sigh, he asks, "Did you see a kid run past? He stole my wallet."

Elsee shifted her weight a pit to prevent a particularly strong branch from jabbing her in the back as she observed the older man, quirking an eyebrow at his frustration. Seemed likely that this was the guy the kid from before stole from, she didn't see any need to tell him where the kid went, but figured she may as well ask.

"Somethin wrong ser?"

The man jumps a bit; he didn't see Elsee out of the corner of his eye. With a sigh, he asks, "Did you see a kid run past? He stole my wallet."

Elsee makes her best apologetic face as she shakes her head, lifting her arms up an an "i dunno" fashon.

"Sorry ser, seen alotta keds 'round here, most of 'em runnin fera game or somethin. Wouldn't know 'im if eye did."
