Lou shuffled down the hallway, his hands shoving one AR feed after another out of his way after only cursory glances. The drones would fix the damage to the walls beautifully, thanks to the autosofts he'd loaded them up with. By the time they were done, the bullet holes would be next to impossible to see. Still. It was his job to monitor them, so he did.
As he paused to pick up a missed shell casing, a trio of researchers pushed past him, already having mastered the art of not looking at him. It never took the new ones long. He was only a janitor, after all.

It wasn't their fault. Well. They wouldn't admit that it was, at least. Still, he knew that it took all kinds to keep the company running smoothly, and while they had deadlines and managers breathing down their necks, Lou was relatively free to do as he pleased - so long as he kept the drones running and kept things clean, he wasn't pestered much. Quarterly security inspections and occasional random reviews, but by corporate standards, he was a free man - he could do as he pleased.

As he surveyed the damage done to the facility by the intruders the night before, Lou stopped in front of a dark reddish patch on the linoleum floor - the remnants of the firefight that had taken place. He had to wonder what on earth had possessed these criminals to risk their lives like they had. Sure, the trids showed shadowrunners in a glamorous light, but they rarely ended up with their grey-matter splattered on a wall in the trids. Was it greed? Desperation? For the life of him, Lou had no idea why these people thought the company was so bad, but then, they just didn't understand how it worked. The good things it did, and the way it cared for its employees.

    Dissent into Darkness

    System: Shadowrun: 4th Edition
    Player Count: 2 - Myself and 1 friend - Galvain7
Style of Play: We're both fans of Roleplaying, so heavy on character interaction and development. Combat in Shadowrun always tends to be fast, dirty and lethal, so we'd like it to be uncommon, but memorable when it is. Sometimes, combat is just inevitable. Welcome to the shadows.
Allowed Content: This is more a list of books we're using to make the characters and have access to -

    • Book #1 = Shadowrun 20th Ann. Ed.
    • Book #2 = Unwired
    • Book #3 = Augmentation
    • Book #4 = Runners Companion - we'll be using the karma generation system from this, so this one is pretty set in stone
    • Book #5 = Arsenal
    • Book #6 = Street Magic

    Character Creation:

    • Backstory: We're both starting off as characters working for a corporation (Ares, right now, though it can be changed) - the idea for the story is going to be the both of them going from upright corporate citizens, through hardship, corporate betrayal and a fight for survival, and eventually down the dark path of shadowrunners. Rather than starting as bitter, hardened runners, we're hoping to build up to that point, and then onward, seeing how far they can go.
    • Experience: Right now, we're going with the 750 karma build, though both of us are considerably lower than that right now. We're not optimizing the characters, and neither are tanks by any means - one is corp security, built on the template from the book, the other is a janitor / drone maintenance character, and neither have anything mystical ect about them yet, so providing a challenge for them really shouldn't be all that hard.
    • Wealth: We're just using the standard karma-gen rules on wealth, but neither of us is going crazy with that either. Our characters are upstanding, hard working corp citizens, so they're making enough to be comfortable, but they're not wealthy by any means.
    • Ability Scores: Again, standard Karma-gen point buy for their stats.
    • Hit points/Health: Standard, again.
    • Alignment: Here's where things get a little harder. Shadowrun has never really used much of an alignment system - characters work the jobs that come their way because they have to pay the bills. The world is dark and unforgiving, and you do what you have to, to survive.
It won't be much different for these two - eventually. Right now, they're hard working, honest, and loyal. The question is - what happens to destroy their illusions? What does the corporation do to betray and alienate them? That is what drew us to the idea for the game - looking at the world of shadowrun from a slightly different angle.

    Other Notes:

    Why only two players?
If you're on the Giant Forums for long, it becomes readily evident that a great deal of pbp games die - there's never a shortage of players looking for a game, but they almost inevitably die out, and lead to frustration and apathy. Why even try, when so many games die, some before even making it through their first combat.

Because we're here to have fun and enjoy something we're all passionate about - roleplaying.

We thought we could start the game off with two players, since it seems like a good way to keep the posting rate up, and since we're friends in real life, we can keep on one another about posts and inactivity.

If you're interested, send me a Pm, and we can go from there, thanks!

Trying to get a DM interested in running some Mutants and Masterminds, 3rd edition. Pretty much anything's fair game with me, provided it can accept an OC. Put up an interest thread and got a grand total of ten people interested in playing, but nobody willing to run it.

Looking for a DM for a level 1 Pathfinder game (in for the long haul).
There are only two of us as of right now and would be willing to find two or three more. Hopefully having it hosted over Maptools & Skype.

Hoping for a traditional setting but we're rather flexible.

If you think you'd like to be our DM please send me a message here. We can establish Skype contacts there.

    Default Re: Seeking a DM

OK this is a request for a DM for a D&D 3.5 Solo game (for me obviously!)

    Rule Based Stuff
    Spoiler
    Show

    Players: Solo (Me)

Starting Level: Ultimately up to DM, but I'd prefer somewhere around level 12 to 15 (see hooks)

Finishing Level: I've never played epic, so if it went >20 I may need some hand holding, basically I'd like it to go as long as we're both enjoying it

Type of Game: I'd prefer sandbox style, although I'm happy if the DM wants a number of plots,earth-shattering or tiny going on in and around, that I can interact with (See hook(s))

Setting: Homebrew is fine, Forgotten Realms is fine, I'm not too familiar with Eberron, so would rather not, but I'd still like eberron material to be accessible

Character Generation: Gestalt(allowing PrC's on both sides of the gestalt at the same time, but no dual progresion PrC's), preferably fractional BAB/SAVES, 5d6b3/36pt buy, or similar high level stat generation

Houserules/Banlists: No multiclass penalties, Leadership ALLOWED (See hook(s)), Ban list at DM's discretion but would prefer a fairly light ban list, with agreement, that neither of us will go too nuclear on optimisation/cheese

Sources: I have access to most/all 3.5 WoTC books, and would prefer most/all open, setting specific stuff on agreement

Homebrew: If the DM wants it, fine, I probably won't use it however.

Optimisation: Below is a possible(Certainly not finalised yet) build stub, I believe in practical optimisation (being good at my role) but not TO, just because I've got illumian, archivist, and wizard in the stub, don't expect me to be wanting all the spells ever, or doing any early entry shenangians, wish loops, spell traps, or anything else too crazy/cheesy

    Build Stub:
    Spoiler
    Show

    Illumian Archivist/Walker in the Waste // Factotum/Wizard/Master Specialist/Mindbender/Lore delver

    Hook(s):
    Spoiler
    Show

The basic character concept that I'd like to play, is a seeker after knowledge, with the (pretty much all) consuming desire to gain as much knowledge, and thus as much power as he can.
While his motivations, and certainly his actions may seem at the very least ethically grey, if not outright evil, this does not need to be an EVIL game, my character is doing this in a pursuit of almost pure power, not power to hurt others, not power to help others, not power to enslave the world, not power to free it.

As a result of this, I would like a reasonably large part of the game to be finding, and exploring old ruins/dungeons/temples etc I basically want to gain all my new (apart from the ones given by level ups) archivist/wizard spells, by exploring and finding said spells in these sorts of places. These places can be just in the material plane, or in planar locations whichever you wish.

    Adventure Hooks
--I would like the ability to get a stronghold, to use as a base of operations, I'd prefer it to be gained in the course of an adventure, but this is something that we can talk about, and negotiate, including details of what sort of stronghold. This is the main reason I'd want leadership on the table, so my cohort/followers can mind the farm while I'm away adventuring. I may occasionally take my cohort with me, but not always.

If starting at ECL < 15
I'm planning on hitting Walker in the Waste level 10 at ECL 15, which means at ECL 15 I'll want to undergo the Sere right, and become a dry lich. If we're starting below level 15, I'd want some form of adventure to find the Dusty Conclave, to meet requirements. While I don't need my stronghold to be in a desert/waste region it'd be helpful if in a homebrew world there was a desert/waste region somewhere!

Anyway if this sounds like a campaign you'd be interested in running PM me, and we can talk further, I'm open to negotiation on most stuff, so if you like the look of a lot of this, but there's one or two sticking points PM me and we'll talk it out!

I will also, if it's something you'd be interested in, offer to DM a solo campaign for you in return for this wonderful service. Check my sig for games I can run.

    Thanks

I was hoping that there would be an ST willing to run a modern day or close to modern day Vampire the Requiem game for mid to old ancillae or even young elders that would be a more introspective chronicle that focused on the characters and their relationships with each other and the relevant NPCs.

Would prefer a small group; no more than 4 or 5, or if there is a lack of interest a solo or two person chronicle as well.

Alrighty then. I've been trying to find a new DM for a low-mid OP, light-hearted D&D 3.5 game that I originally requested over about a month ago.
We did have a DM who set a Big 16, but then disappeared and so far, we have 8 completed character sheets (though some back stories are still in the first recruitment thread) built to those 16 and ready for selection.

If anyone would be willing to take a look, here is the second thread.

We would appreciate it if someone is willing to take this over.

    Default Re: Seeking a DM

I’m looking for someone to DM a solo campaign for me where I play as an assassin.

    Campaign and Character info:
    Spoiler
    Show
I don’t necessarily need to begin play as one, but its something I intend to move towards fairly quickly, or be introduced to (e.g. by being approached by a guild). I’m still finalising my character concept, as much of it actually depends on the world the DM provides for me, but I can see him beginning as an unthinking apprentice to an assassin’s guild, that becomes disillusioned with their system and seeks to reassert balance by removing their leaders, or perhaps an avenging figure, almost batman-esque, that seeks to eliminate the corrupt and depraved government that oppresses the people. He could even be both; realising the error of his ways and vowing to use his skills to right the world he wronged from the shadows. As such, I imagine he will swing across the alignment scale somewhat.

This is something I plan on investing a lot of time into, and I can maintain a very regular posting schedule.

I’d prefer things to be on the low end of the power scale, with magic being seen as something fairly unordinary and mysterious and my character remaining at a non-ridiculous level of strength, even at the higher levels. This campaign is all about the climb, so I’d like to start at a fairly low level. Eventually, I’d like him to be running his own assassin’s guild- something which will become an eventual goal for him, and a legacy to leave behind.

The Big 16, such as it is
    Spoiler
    Show
    1. The system will be D&D 3.5

    2. I’m looking for something dark and gritty, and largely urban, but the DM can take this anyway they wish. Something challenging where high-leveled anything is rather exceptional.

    3. The game will be a solo campaign, played by post over these forums.

    5. Starting status and experience is flexible pending on DM. I’d prefer not to begin high-level as I actually rather enjoy working my way up, and this campaign is about the climb. If I start with a few levels, or if the DM wants me to begin at rock bottom and work my way up, I’m fine with either. I’d prefer to begin at rock bottom, personally.

    6. Starting funds would be standard WBL, DM pending.

    7. I’d prefer the DM to be flexible about PrC requirements. The classes I’d be looking at (potentially) would be rogue, swashbuckler (with Daring Outlaw), Swordsage, Invisible Blade and, of course, Assassin (with no alignment restriction). However, this is just a general idea, and its very unlikely I’d be looking at using any more than 3 of these.

    8. I’d prefer the world to be primarily human, or ‘human-like’ with a focus on humans. I myself would be playing a human.

    9. I’d like to start with a 34PB, as I’m going to be having to cover a lot of bases as a solo character. HP would be max on first level and rolled thereafter, with re-rolls on a one.

    10. I’d prefer to steer clear of objective alignments if possible. No alignment restrictions, and a more ‘black and grey’ approach to general morality than ‘black and white.’

    11. I’d prefer no multi classing penalties.

    12. Rolling can be done however the DM prefers.

    13. As far as homebrew rules go, the only one I’d prefer is that there are no penalties for cross-class skills (1 point = 1 point), though the same upper limit still applies. If possible, I’d also like to use PF feat progression (every even level), though I’d be ok not doing so.

14/15. I like my RP, so there will be a lot of that. This is the kinda campaign I see myself living by my wits, always treading a knives edge kinda thing. A lot of my time will be spent interacting with NPCs for the purposes of tracking down my targets, gathering information for infiltration and so on. As such, I’d like to gain RP experience and XP for stuff like this on top of just combat, which (if my character does his job right) should actually be somewhat minimal.

    16. Content-wise, I’d like access to ToB for Swordsage, and general access to splatbook material to which I can provide links and the like. Chances are I won’t actually be using most of it, but I prefer to keep my options open.

I’m very happy to discuss any of this with the DM. In return, I’d be happy to look at DMing a solo campaign for you, if that interests you, and there’s very little I won’t be willing to tackle. I specialise in more low-level campaigns, and I have a profile up on the DM registry for reference, if this offer interests you.

Some friends had the right spirit, but couldn't get in; here's the link. They need a GM to guide them.
I wish I could say something classy and inspirational, but that just wouldn't be our style. Pain heals, chicks dig scars, glory lasts forever. It's been an honor sharing the field of battle with you.

Hi there! If anyone is willing to run a game of Mummy: the Curse, I have a recruitment thread going on here.

Looking for a GM for a Skull and Shackles PbP, for myself and a few others.

The request was for no-third party, no homebrew, with the optional guns included. There are currently eight interested players, and we'd like a GM to step forward so we can get started.

    Thanks in advance.

Looking for a DM for a high-level (20+) Pathfinder game, in any setting, preferring to keep mostly to Paizo PF material for character crunch.

We have five players that were already selected from a different recruitment thread, but that DM had to cancel before the game started.

If it turns out that some players also have to cancel, or that you'd like to have more than five players, we're not averse to opening it up to a general recruitment thread.
