The punchline is that she was startled and slammed the laptop closed so he wouldn't catch her watching it. Then she realized that he's a cat, not a person. "Wait, what am I doing? It's just Mieville."

Quick question, is that a common or even semi common thing with girls? I see it get brought up in a number of various comics where at least one girl there finds two guys to be hot and squeee worthy. Is it just authors trying to subvert tropes about guys looking at girl/girl stuff? Or is it an actual thing?

It is very definitely a thing, Here's the TvTropes article on it.

Yes, many women do find guy/guy hot. It's surprising for a number of straight guys to learn this because there's a lot of social pressures that have made the straight male view the default view of society, so anything a straight guy would find hot is default hot and anything he would find repellent is default repellent. That women actually have desires and opinions of their own regarding what's hot and what's not was, of course, a big surprise that not quite everybody has come to grips with yet.

Well, it's amazing what a simple web comic can at times tell you about your fellow Playgrounders... Just for the record, I can say that about half my female friends do would be considered Fuyoshi according to that link (also, MoonCat, how can you link to tv tropes just like that. You know that requires multiple warning labels). I guess it's just the same as with girl/girl for men... More of what is considered attractive on its own.


Also, on today's comic: Awwwwwwwwwwwww is back. And I'm kind of reminded of the amous "just because you're paranoid doesn't mean you're not being followed" even if it doesn't precisely apply.

It took me a few seconds to recall where I saw the spider from before. Too be honest, I likely would have reacted in a similar manner to hannerlore. Or run away screaming in sheer terror. Bit of a 50/50 thing really.

I don't know... it might fit her kind of but I think it's unlikely. For some reason I can see Hanners or so much more likely to be a vegan instead of Emily.

I had a really hard time realizng that the last line wasn't disconnected from reality, and suspected that she had taken a blow to the head. I thought he was holding a standard disposable cooling pack to his face, and had to read the comic four times to realize that it said "peas" on it.
