Re: LGBTAitp 34: <3!!
Birthdays depress me, and they should depress everyone else too. That's why, this year, I'll strongly imply I want a surprise party and then go into hiding at a Motel 6 for a few days. Hah! I won't be the only one disappointed.

Re: LGBTAitp 34: <3!!
Thanks for the support guys, it means a lot.
Like I said, I will take a break from dating.
If someone comes along that's great, but I no longer have the strength to search.
I have my big homebrew project(and I could use some advise if anyone is interested to help) and I am DM-ing two games(and hoping to gather players for third), so that will keep me busy for now. And also work and sleep, that should fill up my time. But enough about me.
Hugs?
I don't have any skulls but how about a happy birthday and a friendly smile(I do have a beautifull smile)

Re: LGBTAitp 34: <3!!
*hands over bags of wasp "skulls"*
Apparently they eat spiders.
Yeah I checked my books. Human Molecular Genetics says "46,XX or 46, XY in the case of normal human chromosome preparations", "human females and males are respectively 46, XX and 46, XY". Molecular Cell Biology has a table where Homo Sapiens is listed as having 46 chromosomes. Both of these books are some twenty years old, so it's possible they've changed this since then.
The thing is, though, that these are not offering a definition for what it is to be human. They're using shorthand - we all do. So I don't think one should be too hard on them.Avatar by CoffeeIncluded

Hugs for everyone who needs them.
Happy birthday, Lea! I have a couple of skulls here, but they are Ork, and well, kinda trophies of battle.

Re: LGBTAitp 34: <3!!
Nice article.
Happy birthday!
Wow, that doesn't even make sense.
That's great. See, it worked out.
I also went shopping for new shoes with my mum yesterday, which I was a bit nervous about cause I didn't want boyish shoes, but I managed to find some nice neutral Converses which I quite like.

Also had a good conversation with my therapist about my anxiety issues and other things last Friday.
Textbooks:
SpoilerMy Physiology textbook from this semester has a section on reproduction and development. Let's see...I was going to quote the page, but it's a pain. No direct statement of "humans have 46 chromosomes", just an indirect one, which does say 46. Next page, it indirectly mentions that chromosomes can be missing when it says that XXY and XO are possibilities. Well, it's an intro-level book.
My Genetics textbook says, "Human cells, for example, contain 24 distinct kinds of chromosomes..." in the introductory section. Let's see...the section on aneuploidy is far enough in that they assume you know that normally humans have 46 chromosomes, and just goes into what aneuploidy is and some common examples in humans (Turner, Klinefelter, Down, a few others).Jude P.

Re: LGBTAitp 34: <3!!
SpoilerWell, they go into chromosomal abnormalities - especially the one on Human Genetics.
And always remember, girls, boys and others, that as you walk down the path of life to stop and pet the cats. They may not be particularly interested in you, but it feels good anyway.Last edited by Asta Kask; 2013-05-13 at 09:33 AM.

Re: LGBTAitp 34: <3!!
The movie is surprisingly true to the source material. Yes, the story of the movie has nothing to do with the short stories, but the themes and more importantly the feeling of high adventure are very well translated to movie screen.

Re: LGBTAitp 34: <3!!
Happy birthday! Well, I don't have any skulls or money, but I do have some hugs and...
Wait, that makes no sense. That isn't feminist...
*wanders off for a bit, distant screaming*
Where was I? Happy birthday, I got you a skull! Fresh, too. In entirely unrelated news, I don't think the guy who said that will be on the internet much now.LGBTA+itP

Re: LGBTAitp 34: <3!!
So she asked you ages and ages ago to not be out around her dad, or...?
I suppose it's still possible that since no one suggested you that they figured you were verboten, but that does make it seem a lot less likely, aye. Seems like you might want to have a chat with at least the hostess in the near-to-immediate future.
I was suggesting that if you didn't have one on one meatspace time that you were pretty much left with IMs, Email, Letters, that sort of thing.
And, really, if they have that little respect for you that it ruins seeing them and destroys the pretense of friendship, you're better off doing it sooner rather than continuing the charade.

No idea Asteron Questar, it's blocked in my country.
SpoilerConan the Barbarian with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Neo Leviathan linked to Conan the Barbarian the Musical in response to Lentrax's birthday wishes to Lea Plath, if I'm following this all correctly.
Speaking of which, Happy Birthday, Lea!

Re: LGBTAitp 34: <3!!
The point is that it's most of the time brought up in wrong contexts. The origins of queerness have 0% relevance when talking about human rights. And it's very tiring sometimes because opponents talk about the origins and reasons all the time to tear you down... and to hear it come from allies as well then and it also can carry a feeling of being a curiosity sometimes rather than just a human being who you empathize with.
(And I'd be careful with using curiosity as a justification, cause I've encountered a lot of intrusiveness and disrespecting boundaries with that used as justification. Not saying that you do that.)

Re: LGBTAitp 34: <3!!
Is this it? This works in the US. Or at least where I am.
I think it's neat for like, a classroom setting, because neurobio and genetics are cool. If I were talking about human rights I wouldn't bring up the how or why of it because that's not relevant.Jude P.

Re: LGBTAitp 34: <3!!
@Asta
That might be so, but Dawkins is usually a very outspoken guy and has no problems with talking about genetic or memetic origins of faith with religious persons. I was surprised to see him struggle so much while talking science of his chosen specialisation just because it's about the 'gay gene'.
I think that when talking about something that might sound wrong, it's easier to avoid errors when talking fluently.

Re: LGBTAitp 34: <3!!
Glad you liked it!
Luckily most of us don't have to deal with the likes of Grace though. >.>
(Which reminds me, it might be neat to have a little list of queer-related webcomics and other media in the original post?)
Hm hm.
It was a pretty nice boost in confidence after all the anxiety of the weeks before~
Hm hm, definitely. I think it's just something to watch out for outside of those contexts, you know? Like, I think it's probably best to not assume that because someone is queer they're also interested in causes and origins.

You can call me Juniper. Please use gender-neutral pronouns (ze/hir (preferred) or they/them) when referring to me.
