Hey, Vaz, I didn't know you were a judge in this. I must have missed the post.

I have a trip this weekend and I really want to knock it out before then, so I'll have plenty of time for disputes. Not sure that is going to happen with 23 entries.

Are those still around somewhere? I'd like to go take a look at some of the ones from before they moved here. There were some on both BG and minmax, right?

    Wow Great Work Mattie P.

On another note, I'm cringing over my entry because I just realized another mistake Note to self check everything 25 times with proper resting before submitting.

No, no, I'm not, I've managed to get a couple of entries in (sorry!); I still like to read through every entry though. I figure it's only polite, but seeing so many entries, I just balked, and had a quick skim of the summary.

As to the Iron Chef entries, was that back when they were Team entries?

Anyhow; found a quick link to the eyebleeding "design" of the BG post; sadly with them going down, and I don't think they were ported to Min/Max

I've had a chance to read through all the entries (I'm not a judge, I'm a contestant), and there are several that stand out to me as a cut above.

Unfortunately, none of them are mine.

So now my new goal is to be in the top half of the entries. *fingers crossed*

They are, I found some of them the other day. The themes were a little wonky, IC 1 was Beastmaster, IC 2 was ordained champion, Suel Arcanamach was 4, but IC 3 was "A Holiday" and IC 5 was the Avengers, I believe.

I'm just happy that I submitted an entry at all. I'll let this be a learning experience, no matter my score. In fact, I've learned a few things just from some of the other entries.

Was there ever a debate to limit entries to one per user? Not that i would like it that way, but from a judges point of view 23 builds to judge in 2 weeks isn't exactly some 15 minutes of work.

Some what related question: how many judges are working on the current dishes?

That's only fair. I'm just glad we have someone brave enough to judge our 23 entries.

There might have been a discussion, but I believe that we decided to leave it up to the chef to determine how many builds to submit. It's partially because chefs haven't really abused it. I think 3 is the highest number of entries by a single chef, and that's only happened once.

so he can summarily destroy them to power his terrible class features for a little longer.

that beholder eye assassin thing looks weird and terrible. I'd be open to doing an IC on it.

master transmogrifist is a super fun class. I've never had occasion to use it IRL since it loses so many caster levels, I can't justify pulling it in a real game. but if everyone's operating at the same handicap, I can see it being fun.

truthfully, a problem I forsee is that there won't be a lot of variety in the way people enter since it requires alter self and polymorph.

slimelord/oozemaster as discussed earlier in the thread would be hilarious ingredients as well.

well, i actually didn't see any builds that went exactly like mine would have. i saw entangling exhalation a few times, but no fear blasting. i only saw 1 kobold. i guess my originality would have been higher than i thought.

I think Kayzan is also judging. But as far as I know it is just the two of us.

As far as time investment, I have devoted quite a few hours so far with 12 through stage 2 of the judging.

I need to upload a picture of what my work area looks like. Maybe I'll do that tonight when I start judging again.

Sorry mate, your PM box is full, just wondering where I send you the money to get the 1st and 2nd place? You missed it off your last PM.

Did anyone have that feeling where they use an ingredient, and think, "oh, hell yes, that's awesome, no-one will use that!" and the four parts (two on each) that I thought wouldn't be used were. Hada sinking feeling when I saw [X] entries with [X] and another entry or two with [X] and [X].

    Nooooo!!!!!

There was, on more than one occasion. It was determined to be a reactionary restriction that wouldn't have a meaningful impact, because folks who wanted to could merely ask friends to submit their builds in their stead.

We've had a run of a few in a row with large entry numbers; we've had stretches where 8 entries was "a lot" by comparison.

I find using the books allows me to look at several things simultaneously, looking for synergy, flaws, and errors as I do so. Those photos are an example of how the room looks each night as I scramble to judge.

@Amphetryon: Hah! I know what you're talking about. Some of my well-read books look like that. But most of my 3.5 books have been kept safe in those perfectly sized milk crates, unfortunately for me seldom used in the past few years.

I now predict a rush to identify all the books in my collection. Many of them are readily identifiable, even with the glare from my cell phone.

Although, I will say I have one additional milk crate not pictured, also containing 3.5 books.

Also, please note, these pictures are not an attempt to brag or show off, merely showing how I've been spending my free time book diving for the past few days.

My kids got a hold of a few of mine. Even dunked my Complete Arcane in the toilet a few years back... Colored in them and some minor dings bashes and scrapes.

Now true I have worn out some books of my own... My first 3.5 PHB has the spine ripped out of it from over use.

Hell most of my 2ed books are in better condition than my 3.x books.
