My copy of Draconomicon is pretty damned beat up too - the cover's actually loose in the back, to there's a 'page' with just the back cover on it after the cardboard backing.

And my copy of Complete Psionics was mis-cut during production, so every single page has an inch long gash (at about a 10 degree angle) in the middle of the top of the page.

I would totally want to see. However I don't think an IC contest would be required to do so. I think a normal thread would suffice. Maybe there's a specific build that combines classes, feats, and Infinite Variety in an entirely unique way that wouldn't be thought of unless made for IC but eh...I don't think so.

Ironcally I'm actually quite in favor of picking SI's that aren't too terrible. I think that too much terribleness stifles creativity. Heck some of my favorite IC contests have been with SI's that were relatively powerful (Assassin and Blade Bravo for example).

However I think MS is a little too powerful. It's features don't seem particularly hard to make use of if you enter using a limited-list caster. Plus IC is for things that haven't gotten the spotlight. While MS hasn't really been used much, the spells it's focused on-Alter Self and Polymorph- havve been explored pretty thoroughly.

that beholder eye assassin thing looks weird and terrible. I'd be open to doing an IC on it.

master transmogrifist is a super fun class. I've never had occasion to use it IRL since it loses so many caster levels, I can't justify pulling it in a real game. but if everyone's operating at the same handicap, I can see it being fun.

truthfully, a problem I forsee is that there won't be a lot of variety in the way people enter since it requires alter self and polymorph.

slimelord/oozemaster as discussed earlier in the thread would be hilarious ingredients as well.
Man the Eye of Xanathar PRC isn't that bad. It continues the important things for a rogueish character and also gives increased versatility. The only bad part I can see is that it makes you more MAD by giving the character Wis and Cha dependance. I do think it would be a fantastic IC ingrediant though.

You can totally justify pulling MS in a real game. As I said before, just enter using a PRC or base class with a limited list. That's what Akal did in the build he mentioned earlier in this thread.

I don't think that MS's spell requirments are really a problem. There are a ton of ways to transfer spells from one spell list to another.

Slime Lord/Oozemaster would be cool too yes.

I lurk in the IC competitions pretty consistently, but haven't submitted anything yet due to lack of confidence in my op-fu. I considered turning in a Bard 6/ToT 10/Bard 4 build for this one, but chose not to, which is a good thing, because two other builds did that schtick better.

As always though, I picked up some new things from the contest. Specifically, after several hours happily wasted, I now have a build which I'd have been delighted to put forth and lose horribly with had it occurred to me a few competitions back. I don't suppose there's any chance of a "leftovers" round in Zinc Saucier or anything?

I'm a little worried that we're going to see a certain PrC in the near future that, erm, I really don't want to see. It was mentioned in another thread, but I won't say much more than that for fear of egging on the chairman.

The one PrC I've been looking forward to for a while is Thief of Life. Eye of Gruumsh is another that I think would be fun, as would Shadow Sun Ninja or Hellreaver.

I also agree that somewhat more powerful PrCs can bring their own type of fun too, though.

I'd be interested in seeing what the playground could do with blade dancer. It's not great, but it could certainly do something with the right build. What does the playground think?
I wholeheartedly support Eye of Gruumsh and Hellreaver, though the latter might be a bit too good.

Please...by all that is merciful...no Shining Blade of Heironeous! I couldn't do a thing with that class, and I have really tried! I play primarily low-op games and that class would be majorly underpowered there.

If I may, I'd put my vote behind Dread Fang of Lloth or the Pale Master. Just two classes I'd like to see done. Not that I expect my input to really count much.

Pale Master is probably out, since it's 9/10 casting (i.e., good) and its best class feature is a Leadership clone, which would be out due to contest rules. Might be sorta cool to see what could be done with all that weird crafting stuff they get, though.

pale master doesn't get anything related to crafting. are you perhaps thinking of fleshwarper?

I was thinking of the Undead Armor Affinity feature; I incorrectly remembered them getting some special ability to craft those kinds of armor, rather than just reduced ASF from wearing them.

I...actually can't see a single similarity between the two (aside from 7/10 BAB). Eye of Xanathar is a stealth focused PrC that advances sneak attack, gives a bunch of Beholder-themed SLA's, and lets you use a bunch of divination effects/enhanced senses. ToT is a dragon-themed gish PrC that gives casting advancement, breath weapons, and buffs to social skills/fear goodies, then lets you dominate dragons as a capstone.

    Am I missing something?

OA could be an interesting one. BATTLE MAIDEN!

Quite possibly one of the most stupidly "broken" abilities on a mounted warrior; Ride check to Initiative, Armour Class, and to ranged attack bonuses.

Looking at some of the things mentioned here to increase Ride checks (Improvisation, Divine Insight, and Guidance of the Avatar, you're looking at +42, 23 ranks, +6 increase from class, that's an AC of 79, without factoring in Dex*2, or any other obscure increases. Even just the boost to Initiative is gained at 3rd level.

    Still, some horrrendous pre-requisites.

Iaijustu Master; we all know how "good" that could be.

Ninja Spy, Shadow Scout, yeah, no, they're all terrible.

Actually, the Battle Maiden gets her Ride bonus added to other checks. Not her Ride check. So an increase to initiative (3rd level), AC (5th level), and attacks from horseback (7th level) of +2 (at 1st level), +4 (at 5th level), and +6 (at 9th level). Which is not quite so stupidly broken.
