Re: Iron Chef Optimization Challenge in the Playground XLV
Can you say what it was? I don't think revealing that would reveal your entry, as you've had time to read them all (I finally read all of Kayzan's).
If by brief you mean a little over 24 hours, you'd be correct. I have a feeling I'm going to sit the next one out, tired of my books now. I didn't clock it, but I know I spent at least 24 hours in judging, or a little over an hour per competitor.Blank 3.5 Character Creator Iron Chef Style Tables (in Google Sheets)

Re: Iron Chef Optimization Challenge in the Playground XLV
I would like to reiterate about the good job the judges did. My hat is off to you both!
I like when there are multiple judges to see the different styles. What one judge likes another may not necessarily like. It is interesting.Chairman emeritus for Zinc Saucier.

I actually did not know that there was a half dragon/draconic class advancement in races of the dragon.
Correct me if I am wrong but isn't it 3:30 something till the final time?Last edited by thethird; 2013-06-08 at 03:35 PM.

Re: Iron Chef Optimization Challenge in the Playground XLV
I'm only guessing, based on your comments from the first set of scores: Callin, don't be discouraged. Merely completing and submitting a build is an accomplishment to be proud of. This isn't for cash, or any particular prestige (pun intended), just for fun. Enjoy the process, including any lessons gleaned from the other entries and the responses of the judges.

Re: Iron Chef Optimization Challenge in the Playground XLV
Oh I know dude but I am really seeing that this competition just isnt right for me.
Edit: Its also not about where I place. Its about my expectation from ME and I am only competing against me. I have fallen so far short of that in 2 competitions now. That I feel I need to take a step back for a few mins. My reaction to the judging tells me this. Im competitive only against myself and how I feel I should be doing. I have fallen short.Last edited by Callin; 2013-06-08 at 03:42 PM.

Re: Iron Chef Optimization Challenge in the Playground XLV
If it's making you emotional, letting yourself cool off is a good idea. A min-maxing contest doesn't have to be stressful. I hope to see you compete again when you feel more confident.

Re: Iron Chef Optimization Challenge in the Playground XLV
I know what you mean, I feel like as contestants we pour a lot of time and thought on the builds. And we aren't perfect and we cannot transfer everything we thought to the judges. It gets frustrating sometimes. Alas it is life. And everyone works a lot it is nice to see what other people thought of and how you could improve the build. And to read the feedback, even if sometimes it sounds harsher than it actually is (but when written everything sounds hard, and our builds are our little children).

Also since I have not said this yet and I feel like a heel for not saying it.

I just hope there are less entrants into the next competition. 20+ builds really puts strain on judges.

Re: Iron Chef Optimization Challenge in the Playground XLV
Thanks, mattie_p! Again, hats off - this was a heck of a contest to get through.
Re: disputes, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I know that in at least one contest, Amph extended the deadline until a judge could respond to disputes (maybe Death Delver?). And if Kuulvheysoon decides to end on time, I still think it'll be fine - from scanning over things, it looks like you've judged things consistently across the board.

Re: Iron Chef Optimization Challenge in the Playground XLV
Well I had a minor nitpick but I don't feel like people should wait to get it resolved, so if it is the only one ignore it (I totally failed at reading and now I feel bad for my nitpick being more minor and more stupid that I thought; problem is that I already pmd the chairman).

Re: Iron Chef Optimization Challenge in the Playground XLV
If it is due to my judging and we move on shortly, feel free to PM me. I already had one competitor pm me (no, I won't say who) and we resolved it. We usually discuss for a few days after the competition officially closes, disputing scores is part of the deal, and why I took so long.
I really wanted to ensure even judging across the board, to the point where I did my initial overview from top to bottom, the 2nd reading/actual judging in a random order using dice, and the final review/UoSI from bottom to top.Blank 3.5 Character Creator Iron Chef Style Tables (in Google Sheets)

Re: Iron Chef Optimization Challenge in the Playground XLV
table updated. The three way tie at 1st place makes me chuckle. I picture all three characters in a podium fighting to stand at the top, and then MODDOKH COMES AND BURNS PUNY CONTESTANTS.

If it's not too much to ask, could you edit your judgings to reflect points added? It'll make cataloguing easier for the Iron Chef archive.
