I actually agree - although I prefer baked to fried. But I coat it in my own blend of spices first (and I mean COMPLETELY coat it) and then the spices form this crunchy outer shell on the already yummy skin and it all ends up tasting pretty okay.

2. Take drumstick (or several drumsticks) and place in oven, preferably on some kind of baking pan or sheet. Or a pie tin. Anything that will both keep the chicken from touching the oven and contain the grease chicken tends to leak.
3. Bake for 15 minutes.
4. Coat in spices. My preferred mixture is one of Lawry's seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion salt, Jane's krazy mixed-up salt, and cayenne pepper, but those less accustomed to spice may wish to leave off those last two.
5. You probably didn't coat the chicken well enough. Pour a bunch of spice onto the pan/sheet/tin and roll the chicken around in it. it should be rather discolored by the amount of spice you're using.
6. Bake for a further 17-20 minutes.
7. Consume.
