Re: Old Ways OOC III
So he'd succeed if he rolls 14 or under then? (His DC would be 15 after the +1 to his 14 Int)

Re: Old Ways OOC III
Considering how many people, both PC and NPC, in the party are wounded, it would be nice if someone did a Heal check for them all.
If it would not take too much time, anyway.

Re: Old Ways OOC III
If you really wanted to roll high, though, the math would be:
1d20 ≤ (Intelligence + 1)
1d20 + (Intelligence + 1) ≥ 21It is a joyful thing indeed to hold intimate converse with a man after one’s own heart, chatting without reserve about things of interest or the fleeting topics of the world; but such, alas, are few and far between.

I meant, who is/isn't wounded? How many retainers?

Re: Old Ways OOC III
Looks like I messed up the rolls again. I either should subtract 1 from the roll, or add 1 to the DC. In this case it didn't matter.

Ok, Mycah will try to sneak off into the woods, but apparently with all the grace of a bull in a china shop. Yay.

Re: Old Ways OOC III
Roland, what's the terrain like around here? Is there anywhere we can get a good vantage point over the land and camp safely? Also keeping an eye out for caves to avoid (bears) and a place that's easy to defend if the snake people want to fight instead of making a reasonable agreement (for the meeting place tomorrow).
Also, how's our experience doing? Anyone going to get close to leveling after the last encounters?

Re: Old Ways OOC III
The terrain is mostly wooded hills with an occasional open plain. The best one could do is camp on a hilltop. The snake camp is in a particularly wooded area. One could camp on a neighboring hill, but no excellent spy vantages exist.
I'll have to check on experience. I don't think anyone would be close if experience were doled out now.

Re: Old Ways OOC III
Alright, thanks for the update. ^_^
I think the party could camp a couple/few hills away and in a wooded area for the sake of some shelter in the trees from prying eyes. The casters and most injured should sleep as soon as possible, leaving the rest of the camp duties to those who fair better (like Ash). A hilltop between the two camps can be used as the meeting point (easier to spy the other guys from there).
She'll also recommend a heavier watch tonight - and for those who wear heavier armor and are up to it to try to be a part of watch. Spread out over the shifts - if Brandon or Nathros are not too injured, they'd be good choices.
Dwarves see better in the dark than humans, right? Or is that just in later editions?
Also, no fire tonight unless efforts are made to shield the fire's light from onlookers. Don't want to give away the position and hopefully the dark of night will help in hiding the party's tracks.
Ash intends to be on watch in the early morning (12-4am or so.)

Re: Old Ways OOC III
Mycah is uninjured, and a non-caster, so he can take a middle of the night shift with interrupted rest.

Re: Old Ways OOC III
FYI, web is a second level spell so I'll study it anyway. My other option would be protection from evil which I don't know will work here.

Re: Old Ways OOC III
I know web is second level though Ash hasn't the slightest understanding for the difficulty of the spell.
Is there a way to take a simple spell in the place of a more complicated one if one wishes to? (I've seen it done in 3rd, but I am unfamiliar with the magic methods in earlier editions.) Web is more useful when you can use it to crowd control in a confined area/space, like a cave.
Also, I believe Protection from Evil is a 1st level spell too.

Re: Old Ways OOC III
Not that I'm aware of, no. Web is the only 2nd level spell I know.
