Can that actually work? I mean, can a set of rooms be designed so you can hear one room, but the other room cant hear you? It just seems that if sound can pass in one direction, it should be able to go the other way too right? Also, I cant wait to see what the "now" is going to do.

Some people thought V would stop Roy, and the IFCC would be involved. Looks like that's going to happen.

So we've got proof of service tunnels, V almost finds the party, and now we have the three fiends ready to take over, and we have some snide comments regarding passwall. Nice job, Giant.

Well looks like the bill for selling your soul is about to come to V. I can only wonder about the world within the gate however and why the IFCC would want the gates to be destroyed.

Ok, wow. Good stuff! Looks like a few plot threads are coming together. The demons are indeed able to call in their marker before V's death, and she hadn't told the others about the world within the rift. Interesting. I feel the end of the book coming on.

ETA: so, what the hell (arf) is the fiends' agenda here? They want the gates destroyed becasue a freer Snarl= More Chaos, More Conflict? Or because they know the Snarl isn't real and they want the Gates down for...reasons? Also, V's assumption that there is some risk to lives on the world in the Azure City rift from Roy's destruction of Girard's gate seems to be a pretty big assumption.

Can't wait to see how this plays out.

Huh. I thought you could use Disintegrate in situations like this. Maybe V was worried about hitting something in the room above, or something. That said, at least now we'll finally get some more insight into the Fiends' game plan. Maybe.

Looks like it's time for the IFCC to cash in their chips. So, do they want the gates destroyed (are they trying to quiet V) or are they going to use V to keep the gate safe? Will be interesting to find out.

Ouch! Suddenly things go from praying that neither Xykon or Tarkin get to the gate to praying that they do, because the big fire bellow has caught up with the plot. Also, nice that Roy has made amends with Belkar.

It looks like it. I'll admit, I was holding onto a small hope that the bill wouldn't be called due until V has slipped this mortal coil. But, obviously, the contract wasn't written like that. One of the lessons of fairy tales is to negotiate the price up front. Owing a favor of an undefined nature is not good.

Yes, you can. It's in the shapes of the reletive rooms.

Where the sound goes is controled by the shape and the hardness of the materials it interacts with. It takes a certain amount of cleverness, though.
