Well. Dangerously Genre Savvy all around.

I'm guessing that's an Elder Elemental?

    And second.

Wow. MiTD showed... competence. Really, really well done.

Very eager to see where this goes from here. The boss fight against the Silicon Elemental is going to be awesome, I can just tell.

Okay, so they didn't go into the Rift to escape Xykon and the gang. Now they have to deal with this silicon elemental, which should be interesting to see.

The MITD outsmarting Xykon will surely add much fuel to the fires raging in the debates over what it is.

Aww, and for a moment I thought they were going to get out okay. Though. Ow this gives them more of a reason to head into the rift without being followed.

And that was an impressive moment for the mitd!

    Coolness .

    Si -- A silicon elemental?

Now THAT is a cool end of strip. And way to go plot development for the monster in the dark. That was actually a fairly interesting degree of subtle deception. Maybe he has more INT and WIS than he has demonstrated so far.

As expected, Redcloak and company easily beat our heroes to Kraagor's gate. No doubt they will be busy with the ritual when our heroes show up to save the day.

It also confirms something I had thought: Xykon lost none of his powers just because he lost his legs. They could easily wipe out the party if the MiTD hadn't chimed in with the possibility of a larger threat elsewhere. And that , neighbors, is why lying and deception are chaotic but not necessarily evil in D&D.

    ...

So at some point we're going to see what he does, right?

Anyways, really GREAT strip. Enjoyed it immensely.

    ...

but where is the Linear Guild? Please don't tell me they show up in the next book too...

    Respectfully,

Wow, can't believe I got in on the first page for once! Great comic as usual, and interesting to see more of MitD's intelligence show through. He's really developing as a character. His motives are slightly puzzling though. He obviously wants to find Mr. Stiffly, but teleporting away from the heroes brings him no closer to O-Chul than letting Xykon kill them. Perhaps our creature in the shadows is of Good alignment after all?

Well, that's not good. I don't know if they can still escape into the rift but they may have no other way out of this bind.

For people who have more experience with this sort of thing, how tough would a silicon elemental summoned by Summon Monster IX be? Other than "tough enough to wipe out the Order", I have no clue.

Wow... MitD outsmarting Xykon and Redcloak? Felt almost out of character... And it's still calling O-Chul O-Chul. That's nice.

Edit: I kinda hate it when people cheer that they managed to snag first page, but that the hell... First page! Woo! =)

Sand is silicate, SiO2. Does this mean that an elemental can control anything that contains it's element, even if it's totally different chemically?

"Slightly tougher than the young adult black dragon." Challenge Ratings in the 9-11 range for single creatures summoned by Summon Monster IX.

Should barely inconvenience the Order at this point--if they were all there. But I doubt Redcloak's calculations are that far off.

Well, he didn't know O'Chul really DID go to the other gate, now did he?

I imagine we'll find out what MitD is when he has to stop Xykon from actually blasting O'Chul.

This was just flopsy, though. He probably figures Mr Stiffly is nearby, and just not seen yet.

He just knows they're friends with O-Chul, that's a good enough reason for him to save them.

This strip is excellent, as usual, and hell, just going and powering through Kragor's gate isn't AWFUL, since the OotS has no way of getting there quickly (right now).

Someone needs to start playing "The Opened Way".

So MitD is a classy guy, and the Redcloak/Xykon tension is underlined. Now would be a good time for Tarquin to draw some fire.
