Well, I'll start with what you mentioned tonight and I'll pester you about other things later if needed.

I have no idea. It's been going on before the war, Finns' love for coffee. I mean, during the time of rationing substitute-coffee was a huge thing as the proper stuff was too expensive and out of reach, and some people still call regular coffee with a nickname "substitute". You know you love coffee when you're willing to drink a watered down version of it made from wood bark.

I'm no coffee drinker myself... Chai tea latte's the only thing I can consume, really.

    Dearest Kneebs,

I prescribe you two whole pineapples to be consumed in the next four weeks. This is totally essential for your recovery. Dr Mammy Finn knows what's best for you. Get that pineapple down ya throat!

Just so you know, 30*C is normal for summer here. As in, 85*F-95*F is summer in VA (sans lots of rain or good luck), fullstop. Now, 100*F is a little more impressive, but that's happened a couple of times here this summer too, and we got no such warning.

Well, I think the correct tense is "are emerging", because I'm far from out of this yet. I've taken to refering to my condition as stable but fragile, but I've come upon a period of mood swings, so I guess I'm not sure about how much stability I can truthfully claim to possess...

I'm currently going through a lot of emotions as well. Good and bad, they've all come upon me at once and there hasn't been a moment without any for several days. It's a bit overwhelming, but I accept them nevertheless, for I haven't felt this much for a long, long time...

But fret not, I will keep striding until I've fully emerged, stronger than I ever was! :3

Well, Swedish is a very... enunced language (for lack of a better word), so don't expect my (actually rather present) accent to become any more prominent under the influence...

The same was true here in Sweden as well, with substitute coffee made from roasted grains and bark, and while we're not number one like you Finns, we rank pretty close to the top in the coffee-drinking league as well. I won't look up the statistics, but I think we're number two, actually.

Not that I contribute to that figure. Coffee tastes too bitter and I don't really need the caffeine...

Good, very good perks! I always think people should only have as much responsibility as they can handle, and not a bit more, because then things get dangerous.

If that is the word for the fear of having blood taken this yes, it is terrible, but not something I am willing to do anything about. I'll just have to manage. I heard that next year there were gonna be different plans for how Medi-Cal works and I may be eligible. Let's hope so.

It's the word for the fear of needles, which at least is what I'm inflicted with. If it's rather a fear of blood, I'd assume it's called hemophobia. I don't know what a specific fear of having your blood taken would be called, though...

Oh, well then yeah that would work. I hate needles. It also has to do with something I believe in, that I shouldn't go into here. But it makes the thought of having blood drawn so much worse to me.

Well, buy it together with other fresh greens then.
Of course all the houses are near each other as the town is surrounded by the forest that bears its name. It's a nice little place, I wholeheartedly suggest visiting it if you just so happen to be driving through that part of the world.

The advantage of shipping them unripe is that they would ripen during the trip, rather than waiting until they're ripe before shipping which would result in them possibly being overripe at the destination. Preservation may come into it, but the fruits that are shipped long distances usually keep well anyway.

That would require walking home with a box of various fruits and vegetables. In the sun. I don't like pineapple that much.

Such deceptions will never work! Besides, I don't keep it among my possessions.
However, while you are here, I shall set water to boil for tea and search the cupboards for fruits and grains such that your expedition to my household need not be completely in vain.

@Kneenibble: It is indeed good to hear that your date went well. Hopefully it is a sign that your recovery continues unabated.

Anyway... News from the world of Elemental: I've come down with something and I feel a touch ill. Which is very inconvenient as I need to finish drawing an avatar for someone, clean the ceiling of the kitchen and the dining room, empty a cupboard in my room and continue to sort through boxes.
On the one hand, I did manage to find a book that contained photos of my grandma and great aunt when they were young. Apparently, the population of the town they grew up in was small enough for them to feature in a photographic record.

Ouch. Can you document your boss asking you for overtime? You should always ask your boss for proof-in-writing of work orders. This way you can get a lawyer should you need one. I always make it clear to my employees that: 1, I expect them to complete only exactly their assignment; and 2, they should try to spend only company time working on their assignment.

    Source: I'm a boss.

Unfortunately, I have to admit that though I can do this now because I'm in R&D, I used to be on the trading floor, and unpaid overtime was expected there due to the difficult nature of the work.

For my part of random banter, I had possibly the worst nightmare last night. Do you know what's scary? Thinking there's a serial killer in the house with your family, and not being able to do anything about it.

I will never laugh again at those incredibly cheesy horror movies...

Heheh. Nope, verbal request only. Thing is, I work in a high-pressure modelling (er, code modelling that is) environment, and working on at home after hours is certainly not uncommon. This time the overtime request is just explicit. We're going live next week, so it's understandable I guess. It's just not fun :/

Someone mugged our Kneen? Who do I have to sit on with my gigantic, cuddly, marsupialed self? (and when did you say that you had, I can't believe I missed it!)

I'm currently going through a lot of emotions as well. Good and bad, they've all come upon me at once and there hasn't been a moment without any for several days. It's a bit overwhelming, but I accept them nevertheless, for I haven't felt this much for a long, long time...

Glad to see some forward movement. Despite what some people might say, feeling is a good thing. We're all rooting for you here.

I've always been curious to learn about Swedish. Its one of those languages that you don't hear about often, that I'd like to know more about. For instance - is it like any language? Or is it out there on it's own? I know virtually nothing about it, I'm embarassed to say.

I don't like coffee, and don't drink it ever. I'm told it's an aquired taste, but if I don't like something the first time, logic dictates I don't try it again until I do. I suspect that better in time thing is more the dependence on the caffiene anyway...and that others like the taste.

Me, I love SMELLING coffee. It's really a much better experience than consuming it.

Poor Teddy. ::Hugs:: Whatever it was, I hope it goes away and you're able to drift off swiftly.

I'm detecting a lot of blue emenating from this post. What you need is a good sprinkling of some green ($). Are they requiring you to work, but paying you regular hours? Is there any way to dispute this? Or is this common practice at your place of employment?

Yes I can imagine that being a great deal harder to stand than a needle. Unfortunately I fear both, in a way. Not knives, no I don't fear them unless some psycho person holds them. But just losing blood at all is a very very bad thing.

I suppose it is possible, but no I can't really think of particular foods to me that are always bad. Closest is donuts which I sometimes feel unwell after eating. After that it is purely a case by case basis per eating. I'll look into it though.

Oh I am absolutely certain it is a texture thing. I know that is why I do not like to eat strawberries or coconuts, the texture is so off. As well as some other foods. I tend to like the first bite into an apple for the crunch but afterwards I hate trying to eat the skin, I really do.

Awwwe thank you muchly Wombat. I know the difficulty of making friends. Most of my life it has been pretty tough to. So know, I tend to treasure kind people more than in times past. Hugs are always appreciated, that is how wonderful they are. And these are of the OMNOMNOMNOM variety. I give out the internet worth cookies only individually and for much win, rather than for heartwarming. Though only now do I see this as a strange distinction.

Darn the sickness strikes again! Well has been striking I guess. Either way Zodiac I wish you the best in your healing. Shall I do a healing chant?

Wow, just wow. I thought my grandma and mom were odd yesterday...

ION: Morning or some such to all! Woke up a bit earlier than I had planned so I may need to nap later. Possibly. Or not. Also got to hang out with my mom, sister, and other grandma yesterday. The circumstances of our meeting up were so accidental and nearly impossible to recreate that I have to believe that there was a bit of fate in it. If I had not stopped to eat, or walked to one bus stop then another, or left my friend's a bit earlier or later...no meeting, no hanging out and catching up. And it was quite pleasant, small stomach troubles aside. Guess it was mostly just the illness from Friday and had been trying to fully shake it the last few days. Feeling alright now, other than tired.

I don't know. I looked it up on urban dictionary, but from what I gleaned from their conversation, the definition I heard was wrong.
