Well, I'm allergic to some types of pollen and some types of animal hair, but not cripplingly so. Then again, I don't normally try to eat those, so...

Now, I enjoyed my 5am to 10am sleeping schedule!

*nods* Yeah... VA's sort of in the middle in this respect, as we get reasonably hot summers, and reasonably cold winters... Some people still hate the weather at certain points (I can't stand the summers here without AC or lots of fans), but it's fairly temperate here; it has to be exceptionally hot or cold to really be out of line for what we get. You'd probably find our summers comfortable and our winters extremely cold, though.

Well, you could use xanthous, although my skin isn't tinted yellow right now... I've been drinking properly lately.

Well, it's so similar to Danish and Norwegian that we can understand eachother for as long as we don't speak too fast, but the three languages all have a very different tone to them. Finnish has a rather similar tone (when learning Finnish, we're told that 'u' is pronounced like 'o' and 'o' is pronounced like 'å'), but it's still not quite the same. Well, aquired tastes is a thing, but yeah, I believe a vast majority of the coffee drinkers I know aquired it during their high school or university studies because they needed the caffeine.

And yes, there's something certain about the smell of coffee. Coffee roasteries don't smell very good, though. You want it to be a fine aromatic backdrop, not have your breathing space saturated with it...

Ah! Germanic. I know...like three words of german, but my last name has a town in Germany named after it...does that count? Truely - I'm a mutt. But mostly scottish and german. As with the last problem, I'll have to listen when I get home in any case, so take your time, that'll be a few hours still.

That's interesting. Hmm. I like sweet teas for the most part, but I dislike iced tea unless it is raspberry (which I've found to like). Guess that means I like REALLY sweet teas. I generally have things like apple cinemon, caramel, blue berry, raspberry, so on. What consists of a swedish soda?

Well, my favourite of the Swedish ones is the classical julmust, but I also like the soft drinks Trocadero and Portello (the latter being completely unrelated to the one marketed by the Coca-Cola Company). I don't think I'll ever manage to do them justice if I try to describe them, though...

Yes, this I can agree with, though my optimism tends to come and go. I have articles saved online to read to help refresh my belief in humanity. I am also considering writing a list of names of people who believe that I am a good person, to help pull me out of those very depressed and self-demeaning times. I like the idea.

This makes sense, yeah. Stress can lead to illness, as many can attest to these days. And glad I can help!

I wish I could! I do believe that Celsius makes more sense, but I've been raised with Fahrenheit and most thermometers here use it, so I am a bit stuck. And I still do not know the formula to convert between the two. I should look it up somewhere.

Yeah, I like to play a little with words and call things by other names. You needed something to remove the taste, so I took to refering to whatever you'd use as a detergent, since it'd wash the taste off.

And good thing you got rid of that evil taste...

    The formula is °C * 9 / 5 + 32 = °F. For a frame of references, water freezes at 0 °C and boils at 100 °C, regular body temperature is 37 °C, regular room temperature is 20-25 °C, your refrigerator is probably at 4-8 °C and your freezer at -18 °C.

And I have to agree with this. Both are very good for throats and other uncomforts.

Hmm really...nice idea. I can see what you mean by it. Though I have already frank through a bottle of water and a full can of soda, so I should get something else to drink. Probably that milk.

In that case Finn, I suggest thick curtains and cloth wall hangings. Alternatively, getting to bed earlier, but seriously, we all know redecorating is significantly easier than changing one's sleep schedule.
I do hope that you begin to feel better shortly.

Seriously? Twenty-five degrees? How... How do you even handle standing in a kitchen with the oven on?
Anyway... It's official Finn. You must now visit Queensland.

Yes I can imagine that being a great deal harder to stand than a needle. Unfortunately I fear both, in a way. Not knives, no I don't fear them unless some psycho person holds them. But just losing blood at all is a very very bad thing.

Aww hope you feel better soon Elemental! Got over my sickiness for the most part now we must wish well for you. *hugs* Quite a bit on your plate there, I know the feeling.

I do not remember the formula to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit (silly American me ) But from what little I can remember I can honestly agree with you. Needs more cold weather here!
As far as I can determine, it's quite common to not like certain foods prepared or served in certain ways, but then like them when they are served in other ways.

Alas, there is no other method for one's blood to be analysed to determine the state of one's health. Eventually, I am certain science will invent a device that can peer through the skin, count blood cells and determine the proportions of dissolved nutrients, etc. But I rather doubt it will happen any time soon. So, until then, needles remain the most practical and least traumatic method.
As for losing blood, do not worry, a tree sheds many leaves a year, but they still grow strong.

I am already much improved. I have determined that the reason behind my feeling terrible yesterday was the fact that I had not eaten combined with a terrible night's sleep.
It is indeed good to hear that you have also recovered.

Personally, I just use Google, and will continue to do so until America embraces the metric system. I live in hope that the day will come eventually and I can stop having to convert everything.

You'd probably find our summers comfortable and our winters extremely cold, though.

Well, you could use xanthous, although my skin isn't tinted yellow right now... I've been drinking properly lately.
Yeah... I need a fan to sleep at night during the Summer. The heat makes it even harder to fall asleep. But I'm usually fine during the day.
And of course I'd find your Winters extremely cold, it snows over there. On the other hand, I can without a shadow of a doubt, assure you that not once has it snowed during recorded history where I live. In fact, it's still August, and thus still technically Winter, and I have decided to shun all attempts to dress warmly as it's no longer worth the effort.
That is why I have decided that when I decide to finally get around to my tour of America, that I am travelling during either the Spring and Summer, or the Summer and Autumn.

Hmm... You should be careful to avoid that in future... I'd rather your health not be so terrible as for you to become jaundiced. Not that a yellowish discolouration of the skin always mean jaundice, but its the first thing that popped into my mind.

Yeah, you're right about this. Either way, it's rather common for tropical fruits to arrive still not perfectly ripened...

Hmm, I assume this fruit market lies rather far away from your house, yes?

    Anything starting with "xeno-"?

Thank you all for your kind thoughts! As you probably can tell from my post above, I'm feeling a lot better today, but your care for me is warming nevertheless!

    *hugs for all*
    That's the spirit!

That just shows there were no delays when shipping. After all, the system is very efficient:
Fruit gets picked, packed, moved to port, shipped, moved to the shop, unpacked ready for sale. If they've done their job right, there should be almost no waiting around. After all, if they do arrive ripe, then they need to be sold practically immediately, and that's not going to happen all the time.

I am uncertain of the walking distance due to the route being an unusual shape, but yes. At least twenty minutes each way, with the way back involving the carrying of a box, a task my arms would object to due to the uncomfortable nature of it.

Hmm... I completely forgot about that prefix...

That is indeed good to hear. I hope that you will continue to be better.

    I do. Thank you.

No it isn't! It's just differently useful! 0*C and 100*C tell you when water freezes and boils. 0*F and 100*F tell you when you're allowed to complain about the temperature.
Just get a fan, you'll be fine.

You are aware that zero degrees Fahrenheit is about negative eighteen Celsius? If it reached that temperature around here and stayed there for more than a few days, it would be a local mass extinction event? The Nile has frozen over more often than the Brisbane River. As such, I reserve the right to complain whenever the temperature is such that the floor fogs up around my feet.

And before I forget to ask his opinion: Amidus, how long does it take for one to get use to one's fingers feeling different after taking up the guitar?

Of course it'd be a local mass extinction event for you, it's not part of your climate for it to get cold. Whereas for me that's just a cold snap in the middle of winter. And what's wrong with your floor that it ever fogs up around your feet?

I know. But using Fahrenheit as the basis for temperature based complaints is flawed, which was my rather poorly articulated point.
As for the floor, it's polished hardwood and gets cold during the night in Winter. Thus, if you then stand on it with bare feet, your feet are warmer than it and it caused the moisture in the air to condense on the floor. It's actually pretty cool, but it is also annoying.
