Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Does this need to be spoilered?
Now with: Dryad, Gnomes, Bugbears, Pixies, Squid-thingy, Troll, Minotaurs, Non-specific Snake-People, Non-specific Bird-People, Troglodyte, Warforged, Grippli, Insectoid, and Centaur.
I hope someone notices the subtle reference to a certain Playgrounder. :)
@Elder Tsofu: I thought the footage seemed a little fast. By how much are the videos sped up?
@Gurgleflep: Thanks . It makes sense for Dwarven women to have facial hair, and I was inspired by the Thuntonian version as described in Goblins.
About the fire-head goblin: I would try taking the red and yellow flame shapes and swapping their colours. Fire changes temperature with how hot it is. Red fire is relatively cool, while yellow is much hotter. Generally, flames are hottest near their source, i.e. the goblin's scalp.
@asdflove: Some good work here. I really like the druid/bard's hat and hair. The animal companion doesn't seem to have been updated though. And why do I get the feeling that I've seen the exact design of Yrago's wings somewhere before?
@Crimmy: Hi Crimmy! I don't read/watch/listen to Homestuck, but every now and then I see it pop up in various places. The magic effect on your avatar looks cool.
@Eldan: I agree with Elder Tsofu, your avatar has major personality. The only thing that I'd change is the feet. They're really far too small/short.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
I love the warforged, and it's not just because it looks like Haro from Gundam. The birds are cute, and I think I forgot to mention before that I like the dragons and the other reptiles. If I had to nitpick, I'd point out that the minotaurs should probably have tails if every other animal race does.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Huh. That's weird. 3.5's Monster Manual entry has a tail, Pathfinder's Bestiary doesn't have a visible one, but the Fiendish Minotaur in the same book does, as does most of the other art of them I've seen. But as I said, I brought it up mostly for consistency; I see a lot of bird races without them, so it's always yes or no, I suppose.
And speaking of which, I actually really like those birdies. Maybe it's because they remind me of some of the more cartoony depictions of Chocobos, which are cute and fuzzy.Spako Highclaws by Ceika.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
I looked up the minotaur mini in question... It didn't have a tail because it had armor - I know it's the one because it's the only one I saw with a sword >_> I also checked the pictures and they do have them in the game system (honestly, I'd never noticed them before).
But I stand by what I said, they don't all have tails
Also, the template is pretty awesome. I especially like the halflings, brain devouring octopus headed creature (my absolute favorite thing to send at my players and play as), pixies, grippli, warforged, and how the bug (their race name escapes me) appears to be telling a story and saying "I swear guys, the fish was this big!"Last edited by gurgleflep; 2014-01-12 at 02:39 AM.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
*pokes head in*
Hey everyone, I see you're all producing great art as always. I'd love to go through and comment on them all, but I'm afraid I don't have the time. Keep up the great work, though!
I will comment on one thing in particular, though.
Kurien, I particularly love the curled horns you drew in the miscellaneous body parts section. I was wondering if you'd mind me modeling my own similar horns off of them for future avatars? You've managed to convey the depth they need to look really good, and depth is something I struggle with.
Also, I made a thing. Kirk and Dena again, celebrating Christmas!

@Ninjaman: That looks great! The hair is awesome looking and so are the swords
@Gulaghar: She's gonna deck his halls and jingle his bells The colors go great together, and I like their poses
@Derjuin: Adorable! I don't know anything beyond the original generation of Pokemon but that's nice

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
I'd say that the sheet has become exponentially better with the new additions, great work!
I especially like how the feet have been handled.
The videos have a speed of 700 percent, I originally made them in 500% but felt it was a bit slow since you'd have to sit around for half an hour to watch. ^^
Nice idea with the shadowplay, but if you go with shadows it makes the picture seem to have more depth in it - and thus makes his loincloth stand out like a sore two-dimensional thumb. It might be the lack of outline too, since everything but the swords have one.
Cute, I don't know what it is supposed to represent but then again I haven't kept entirely up-to-date with the pokémon games.
I assume it is some singing/musical insect?

Crimmy, that looks rather frightening. I'm diggin' the colors though.
He's from a game right?
Also, I've got a comic strip thing made (Savannah gave me the idea for it over on DA). It's fairly large though so it's gotta be spoilered.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
The head is too small. Alternatively, the body is too long and thick. The arms could be longer, yes, but they're not completely off proportions. Check on the feet pose, unless you were aiming for a Magneto-float thingie, that looks like he's standing on his tips.
And as personal taste goes, I'm not a big fan of unoutlined oots art, but that's my personal taste only.Last edited by Crimmy; 2014-01-16 at 05:21 PM.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Nice. The lack of borders around the hair and sword and towel is really weird in this piece, but I like the gleam of the swords and the positioning. Also the eyes are off, like, just they look really weird.
Ooo, very nice. I like how you color in the eyes. Very in the season. (I-is she not wearing any bottoms?)
I don't know anything about pokemon but that one sure is pretty. Very elegant-looking. The eyes really pop.
Oh, Crimmy, wow. o.o Your stuff always blows me away, it's so good. I don't know anything about where it's from or why he doesn't have arms. Only thing is the leftmost leg (his right?) seems bent a little funny, in the foot area. Otherwise great job, good colors.
His body looks too long, actually. Making it thinner would just make that look funnier. Also you should try adding borders, it blends way too much for OotS art. Otherwise those are some good color choices.
I decided to be creative.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Thanks!
And she maaay not be wearing bottoms. <.< >.> These two are a couple, and clearly Santa needs presents, too.
(Kirk makes a poor Santa, though. He wouldn't wear the beard or anything!)
And I like your avatar, too. Very, very creepy.
@Crimmy: Wow, that looks great. Boy does he look angry.
@Ninjaman: I share the opinion that borders look better in oots art, but hey, experimenting never hurt anyone. Maybe try some way of making the different parts contrast more, though. I'm not sure what the best way to go about that would be, though.

Thanks! The individual who requested it still does not have it set as their avatar, and I think I made it like almost 2 weeks ago...I'm thinking of using it myself.
Looks good, though in its avatar form some of the images on the dress are a little hard to make out.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
Do any of the people here make avatars on request? I posted a couple of times in the Request thread, and I looked at the "Calling OOTS Avatarists" thread that's linked in the first post, but nobody replied in the former, and the latter seemed pretty much abandoned.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase VI
That'd be because you don't post in the Calling OotS Avatarists. It's reserved for avatarists. You PM the avatarists that are listed there.
And the RAOSA thread might be your best bet. Here's just a showcase thread, not a request one.
Now, let me level with you: Asking over here might hurt your chances of actually getting an avatar done, seeing how it might look like you wanna jump over the others requesting at the RAOSA thread. That's bad form.
My usual standards for making one are that you be someone with... a certain time in the forums, so as to know my drawing will not be used by someone who posts twice then ghosts forever. The other one being that you're concise, ask for something cool but not too over the top. I'd say that's usually gonna get you avatarists because it's not liked when a guy comes in to ask for 50 million detail in your avatar. Check your request and make sure it's not too over the top.Last edited by Crimmy : Tomorrow at 26:72 DM.
